It'd taken a while, but I finally made up my mind. I've been hopping around the edges of the galaxy since I was twelve. Done a little of everything. Smuggling, mercenary work, and some good honest soldiering for some not-so-honest governments. I've been dark places, man, and I knew where this road with the Fringe was leading. Did I enjoy being a spec force guy? Sure. And the cause looked good enough from the start. But stick around long enough and you always see the ugly side of things.
Coruscant... Coruscant had been too much. Killing Jedi ain't my idea of a swell time. I wanted to get back to the reason I'd come to the Fringe in the first place....hunting monsters, not peace-loving space monks.
So, I'd turned in my paperwork and come to a place that specialized in killing big, bad fuglies.
The waiting room at AEL HQ smelled like leather and other stuff that I couldn't place. It smelled gritty. Manly. I wondered if they could bottle it and sell it as cologne.
In my hand I clutched a piece of flimsi, most of it was legalese garbage, but basically it read "Seeking former military monster hunters," in fancy-speak. Well, here I am.
