SETTING INFORMATION

  • City Name: Font, the Enduring Hope
  • Classification: Urban Center
  • Location: Verun
  • Affiliation: The Ascendancy
  • Population: Moderate; Roughly 200,000 citizens with an additional 10,000 students.
  • Demographics: The demographics of Font mirror that of the Ascendancy as a whole: mostly human. Font is no exception to the Ascendancy's xenophobia, and it shows in their demographic makeup.
  • Wealth: High; despite being located in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mostly poor mining settlements, Font prospers because of its status as an academic city. Hosting one of the most prestigious technology-focused universities in the entire Ascendancy, wealth is drawn to the city as though a magnet.
  • Stability: High; The city is at once stable and unsafe for the traveler. While it maintains its peace and prosperity with relative ease—and its people have no qualms with its government—a traveler (particularly a non-human one) would find themselves face to face with a restless folk. Outside of this, however, the government is easygoing and the people are calm.
  • Freedom & Oppression: People, at least human people, are granted a considerable degree of freedom behind this city's walls. Once they leave, however, some rules take effect. Most notably, a citizen must always be accompanied by an entourage of armed guards to leave the city walls due to the hazardous wildlife. This rule doesn't affect most citizens as they tend to keep behind the walls, however for those who need to make the journey from the city to one of the neighboring mining colonies for any number of reasons, this can be a hassle. Other than these rules, however, citizens live a largely unaffected and normal life of law and order.
  • Description: A beautiful sprawling city, the bastion of hope and technological innovation, Font is the second largest city on Verun and the first among equals, so to speak, in education. This is evident in the prototypes vehicles that can be seen flying around the city or over its surrounding yellow grasslands. Repulsorlift transports travel up and down the river carrying materials to and fro, while as the night sets in the lights of the various academies, universities, and residential districts begin to illuminate the eye with a twinkle that takes the breath away. If one didn't know the history, "the Enduring Hope" would be an earned name from the view alone.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Font Institute of Technology (Technology University)
  • College of Ascendant Minds (General College)

SECURITY
[ Provide a Security Rating (choose from: None, Low, Medium, High, Maximum) and any specific security assets in list format. What defenses does this location have, including internal and perimeter defenses? Please note that the rating is relative to the type of location this is. Normal civilian locations have a different scope in security, compared to military locations. As such a primarily civilian location with a Maximum security rating is not on the same level as a military base with a Maximum rating. Consider the ‘Stability’ and ‘Freedom and Oppression’ fields when working on this section, and make sure these reflect each other in your final submission. Please link rare or uncommon tech/equipment to the SW wiki article or Factory-approved submission. Common canon items do not need to be linked. ]

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
[ Include a description on the city's history here. Detail how it came to be created and why. Talk about the people involved in this city's history and expansion; and what role it played and still plays. For historical cities, if you so desire, you can include events from the Chaos Canon timeline or board history where appropriate. ][/LIST]
