STRENGTHS

MASTER TACTICIAN - FN-999 is an incredibly formidable tactician, well versed in military doctrine and possessing decades of battlefield experience to reference. Extremely clever, flexible, and intelligent on the battlefield, the Baron closely studies the environment, enemy units, opposing commanders, and even the culture and customs of his opponents to secure an overwhelming victory. Ever since joining the late New Imperial Order the Baron has played a key role in several major campaigns, including the storming of Bastion, the successful evacuation of Csilla before its annihilation by the Maw, and the rapid suppression of the Chiss Rebellion. Age has only honed his tactical genius, giving him time to study, emulate, and even improve upon the tactics of legendary commanders of the past.
VETERAN - As a foot soldier or frontline commander for the majority of his life, FN-999 is a highly skilled combatant with excellent battlefield intuition, great marksmanship, and great hand-to-hand combat skills.
SCHOLAR - Well-read and well-versed on the major factions and cultures of the galaxy, FN-999 is a highly intelligent man whose wisdom has grown steadily over his decades. He puts this great wisdom to use on the battlefield to skillfully predict and counter the moves of his enemies.
FIT - Despite his advanced age, FN-999 remains muscular and in shape, allowing him to fare well in a fight against most other humanoids.
RESILIENT - Due to his extensive frontline battlefield experience from his late teens into the present, FN-999 has superb physical and mental fortitude. He can shrug off anything short of a lost limb, significant blood loss, massive physical trauma, broken bones, third-degree burns, or a concussion.
CHARISMATIC - An outgoing, assertive, and confident leader, FN-999 commands the respect of all who serve under him. The Baron also puts his charisma to use in the political arena, presenting himself as an honest, straightforward, and principled leader in contrast to the scheming and empty promises of career politicians.

FLAWS

MENTAL SPIDERWEB - As a member of one of the earliest batches of the First Order's Stormtrooper Corps, the mental conditioning and steroid regimen that FN-999 was subjected to was far more experimental than later generations, laying the roots for mental instability from a young age. Additionally, the trauma he suffered as a child soldier, not to mention the trauma he has accumulated as an adult has manifested itself in the Baron's post-traumatic stress disorder.
WITHERING - FN-999’s physical decline has been slow but steady since his peak in his late 30s, and he can no longer recover from serious wounds within weeks as he once could. For the rest of his life, every major injury to a limb or joint will be a permanent debuff to his physical capabilities.
MAKE WAR, NOT LOVE - Having been bred to be the ideal soldier, FN-999 naturally functions at his best in battle. However, during periods of peace, the Baron struggles to find his purpose or any role to play in society, driving him to the brink of depression if not outright insanity.
OVERWORKED - A natural workaholic, FN-999 has a tendency to overwork himself both physically and mentally to the detriment of his health. Lacking any concept of retirement or even a vacation, the Baron will often find himself crushed by fatigue if pushed to his physical or mental limits.
FORCEOPHOBIA - FN-999 has a phobia of all known Force users, including Jedi, Sith, and everything in between. Prolonged encounters with Force users, whether they be friend or foe, can cause the Baron to have debilitating anxiety attacks.

PERSONALITY
One of FN-999’s most defining traits is his exceptional work ethic. His hard-working attitude began to emerge at a young age, fostered by his First Order instructors who saw no room for weakness or laziness in the young cadet. By the time he was a teenager, his dedication had created an entrenched ethos of hard work, further reinforced by his successes in the military academy and active duty. Into the present day, FN-999 is a classic workaholic who always puts 100% effort into any task given to him, even if he knows that success is unlikely. Incentivized by his highly decorated career as a stormtrooper and a steady stream of promotions, it is safe to say that FN-999 has the spirit of a workaholic etched into his very bones.

On the battlefield, FN-999 is extroverted and assertive, able to attract a crowd without much difficulty. As a result, he is generally well-known in military circles and is on good terms with fellow Imperials of many different stations of life thanks to his confidence, integrity, and his honest demeanor. On the other hand, outside the battlefield, FN-999 is much more reclusive and introverted, rarely speaking if not spoken to first. FN-999 does not easily form close friendships, with the notable exception of the Barran clan, out of fear that they may be swallowed up in the cycle of death and killing that has defined his life.

In active duty, FN-999 is serious and strict, dedicated solely to his Empire and his command. However, FN-999 can take a joke and will often joke around with people he is friendly with when not actively leading troops. Furthermore, FN-999 will respect even rude and vulgar comrades as long as they are effective in battle. For instance, while FN-999 often criticized the Galidraani commanders he fought alongside for their brash and rowdy nature, he highly valued their input due to the strength and ferocity of the armored divisions under their command.

In combat, FN-999 is a ruthlessly efficient commander who is willing to use every resource at his disposal and make temporary sacrifices to secure overall victory. Conscious of the complexity of warfare, FN-999 is highly thoughtful and meticulous, taking time before every battle to research his enemy's units, commanders, and sometimes even their social behaviors and cultural practices before making any moves of his own. Even when taken off guard by an unknown and unrecognizable foe, FN-999 has consistently succeeded in holding his own by securing and strongly fortifying favorable terrain. In battle, FN-999 is utterly merciless towards enemy combatants, unafraid to massacre them should they refuse to surrender. However, FN-999 shows a degree of honor towards civilians, refusing to directly endanger them unless absolutely necessary to win a battle. While himself a skilled fighter, FN-999 almost never chooses to enter the battlefield unless he believes his presence can have a significant psychological effect on his enemy, recognizing that his brilliant mind is far more valuable than his aging body.

FN-999 has deep personal insecurities, mainly stemming from his battlefield traumas and his uncertainty about his role in society during times of extended peace. He mulls over every battlefield defeat or personal setback, no matter how minor, far longer than his victories and personal growth, projecting them into his psyche as the norm with his triumphs being only exceptions made possible by highly favorable circumstances. Despite being a soldier for over four decades, FN-999 has never grown numb to the sensation of death, feeling the loss of a comrade as a lieutenant colonel as deeply as he did as a sergeant and often spending lonely nights grieving over casualties he could have prevented. Furthermore, FN-999 has a profound sense of uncertainty about his future in a galaxy where peace prevails or where he grows too old and feeble to command, having no hobbies and believing he can provide little of value to society aside from his skills in killing and commanding killers.

POLITICAL VIEWS

Since his mid-fifties, FN-999 has supported an original ideology known as Imperial executive democracy (IED), a blend of mainstream Imperialism and liberal democracy with its emphasis on checks and balances. Unlike Imperial hardliners, FN-999 believes that constitutional limits on an Emperor or Ruling Council are needed to preserve a dynamic Imperial government that can rid itself of corruption. While FN-999 does not contest the idea that the executive should be dominant, he also backs genuine autonomy for the legislature and judiciary so that they are not simply rubber stamps for the executive. However, FN-999 aligns with Imperial hardliners in believing that a police state with a powerful military and extensive civilian surveillance is an ideal form of government.

FN-999 is also a passionate supporter of secular government, strongly opposing both Jedi and Sith rule. Instead, he believes that Force users seek political office, they should swear loyalty to the secular state above loyalty to the Jedi or Sith. FN-999 despises the Sith in particular, seeing them as agents of pure evil who deserve to be wiped off the face of the galaxy. By contrast, while strongly disliking the Jedi due to their history of opposing Imperialism, FN-999 is willing to tolerate them as long as they have a mutual foe.

——— ——— ——— PRE-ROLEPLAY BACKSTORY ——— ——— ———

On July 28, 840 ABY, a boy named Lucas Hilstar was born into poverty in the urban slums of the planet Corellia. Of his few childhood memories not warped by his First Order reeducation, none are pleasant. Hunger was a constant, and his destitute parents had no love for either him or each other, only held together by a fragment of maternal instinct. Even that however faded with time as the cost of raising the young Lucas brought his parents even further into destitution.

When Lucas was about six years old, he was abducted by an undercover First Order operative while fishing for scraps, after which he was taken to the First Order capital of Dosuun. Given three meals a day, a secure shelter, and a group of other abducted children around his age who soon became friends, the young Lucas did not protest for long and soon came to harbor positive feelings towards the First Order. Therefore, it took little persuasion for the boy to accept a stormtrooper serial number as his new identity, leaving the baggage of Lucas behind forever.

On February 21, 847 ABY, a boy named FN-999 was born in the military barracks of Dosuun.

When FN-999 turned 10, he began to attend Dosunn's military academy as a stormtrooper cadet alongside 998 other young boys and girls. Subjected to a cocktail of propoganda, steroids, and medical drugs, FN-999’s natural physical growth was accelerated while his still developing mind was twisted to instill absolute obedience and submission. A top student in his class, FN-999 grew especially close with other top students, including future longtime companion FN-445 (“Bigfoot”) and childhood crush FN-973.

After four years of physically and mentally demanding academy, FN-999 graduated from his class eager to serve the First Order.

——— ——— ——— CHAOS TIMELINE ——— ——— ———

After a year of distinguished service on Bastion, FN-999 was sent with his squad to Skor II.

After accidentally interrupting a meeting between First Order diplomats and Skor II’s rulers, FN-999 was pulled aside by Kyrel Ren of the Knights of Ren and subjected to a Force choke, nearly killing him before being released. It was the closest FN-999 had ever come to death, and it be one of the most important triggers for his phobia of Force users.

The other major contributing factor came only months later, when FN-973 and her squad were deployed to capture a Jedi infiltrator only to be overpowered and killed. After FN-973’s death, he would never again allow himself to entertain romantic feelings, and as he became more familiar with death over the following decades he would also lose his sexuality.

Near the end of 856 ABY, the First Order was brought down by a pair of catastrophic events: the disappearance of the Supreme Leader and the sacking of Dosunn by Ssi-Ruu invaders. Barely escaping Dosunn with his life, FN-999 would go into exile for the next five years, scraping by with bodyguard gigs and bounty hunting.

Initially devastated by the loss of the First Order and left adrift without any galactic power that inspired him, FN-999 would later see hope in the fledgling New Imperial Order. Just as in the First Order, FN-999 was taken advantage of for his fanatical loyalty and devotion to the cause, frequently being assigned to some of the NIO’s most dangerous missions including the storming of Bastion. Yet FN-999’s immense strength, stamina, and battlefield intuition allowed him to succeed in one mission after another, earning him a steady stream of promotions and an audience with some of the NIO’s top commanders such as Erskine Barran, who would later become Lord-Regent, ruler of the entire NIO.

It was also during this time that FN-999 was granted the title of Baron of Borosk, with the planet of Borosk becoming his base of operations for the next 25 years.

Eventually, court intrigue from within and mounting casualties from outside brought about the end of the New Imperial Order, and FN-999 was left as the independent warlord of Borosk. This was a period of deep reflection for the Baron, with his war trauma becoming blatantly obvious as his unwavering faith in his ideals was shaken. Nonetheless, he was able to hold it together professionally enough to keep Borosk afloat within a sea of squabbling Imperial remnants and greatly matured from his experience.

Now an aging but incredibly bright commander of men, FN-999 serves the Imperial Confederation as one of its most experienced generals.
