SPECIAL FEATURES
- Ion Pulse Explosive: This Droid is capable of Self-detonating an Ion Explosive embedded within their structure. Upon detonation, this pulse can wreak havoc or disable the systems of any non-Ion resistant technology within a ten meter range.
Strengths:
- Hard to hit: This droid is remarkably fast and small, making it a hard target to hit, for even the most capable of Starfighter pilots.
- Ion pulse: The Ion pulse delivered by this droid is easily capable of disabling an in-flight Starfighter. However, if there are multiple droids, they are also capable of dealing multiple ion pulses to critical parts of large ships, such as frigates and cruisers. They are nearly ineffective against most destroyers and larger.
Weaknesses:
- Low Armament: Aside from it's Ion pulse, this device has NO alternative weaponry, making it effectively useless unless it can get within it's Ion range.
- Self-Destructive: Although these droids have a function revolving around ION technology, they are susceptible to their own pulses, effectively making them useless after the pulse ha gone off. The necessary repairs outweigh the worth of the individual droid, so after a droid is hit with a pulse it must be discarded.
- Low Defense: Aside from a thin durasteel hull, this droid lacks any defenses of note, making it susceptible to all means of attack.
DESCRIPTION
With every problem there is a solution. Malvern Shipping & Trade's response to pirate Starfighters was the E-1 Ion Defense Droid. With design and programming consulting from Didact Defense Solutions Malvern Shipping was able to make a design for a fast-moving fleet defense drone.
The programming is the latest of Didact starship Hunter/Killer system writing. This makes the droids skilled while maneuvering through the void of space, as well as closing in on their target with minimal damage to the droid. A nonlethal means of pacification, the droid's systems are tasked with flying in close proximity to their target, and detonating their ion explosive. To aid with this task the droids are also outfitted with a metallic base, allowing them to attach to unshielded starships. Low armor and weaponry make these droids rather fragile, yet when sent into the fray of Starfighter combat, they offer a cunning edge.
