Forged in an age when Mandalorians still believed gods and beasts shared the same sky, the Godshackles known as Fjölnirveðr are a relic weapon-system designed not to kill, but to deny dominion. They are chains and shackles etched with ancient glythscript runes, heavy beyond reason, merciless in purpose. Where blasters end life and blades end resistance, the divine shackles end defiance itself. They were never meant for armies. They were meant for legends that refused to stay dead.

The system consists of modular shackles sized for arms, legs, necks, and torsos, linked by rune-inscribed chains capable of extending, retracting, and phasing through space via ichor witchcraft and Mandalorian runesmithing. Once bound, prey is not merely restrained, it is claimed.

• Stasis Lock Invocation: When fully engaged, the Fjölnirveðr can invoke a stasis seal, freezing the bound target in suspended temporal inertia. This state halts physical movement, Force manipulation, and regenerative effects, preserving the captive exactly as they are. • Adaptive Bonding Geometry: The chains are semi-sentient through ichor binding and respond dynamically to the physiology and metaphysical profile of their captive. Shackles tighten where power flows strongest, constricting limbs, joints, or energy nexuses unique to each species or entity. Against beasts they immobilize muscle and tendon. Against gods and Force-wielders they anchor the soul itself, locking motion and will into stasis.

• Siphon Resonance: At the heart of the holy chains lies a parasitic rune lattice that reacts violently to Force usage. The more a bound target draws upon the Force, the more aggressively the chains siphon that energy into themselves. This feedback loop punishes exertion, turning desperation into self-inflicted collapse. Jedi attempting clarity find their focus drained. Sith attempting dominance find their rage consumed. The chains do not resist the Force, they feed on it.

INTRINSIC STRENGTHS​

Anti Escalation: Unlike many Force-dampening technologies that weaken under sustained pressure, Fjölnirveðr grow stronger the more it is challenged. A Force user attempting to break free only accelerates their own exhaustion as the chains swell with stolen essence. In prolonged engagements, the shackles all but guarantee victory through attrition.

Containment Protocol: The shackles were built to hold entities beyond mortal understanding. Their sheer mass alone is crippling; to common civilians or non-augmented beings, the weight induces collapse, crushed bones, and respiratory failure. This makes them effective even without rune activation, functioning as brutal physical restraints before metaphysical effects even engage.

Phycological Domination: Beyond physical and mystical restraint, the presence of the chains carries immense symbolic terror. Shackles forged to bind gods do not inspire hope. They inspire submission. Bound enemies often cease resistance entirely, recognizing that struggle only deepens their imprisonment. The chains break spirit as efficiently as they bind flesh.

DESIGN FLAWS​

Weight & Handling: Even for Mandalorians, the Godshackles are burdensome. Without exoskeletal reinforcement or divine augmentation, prolonged use causes fatigue, joint strain, and reduced mobility for the wielder. They are not a weapon of speed, nor suited for chaotic battlefields without preparation.

Ritual Dependency: While physical binding is immediate, full activation of siphoning, stasis, and adaptive constriction requires ritual invocation or sustained contact. If interrupted during deployment, a target may temporarily evade full containment, especially if allies interfere.

Environmental Vulnerability: Heavy electromagnetic disruption, extreme cold, or consecrated null-zones can interfere with rune coherence and ichor circulation. While not easily disabled, the chains are at their most vulnerable in environments hostile to mystic resonance.

Nullwake Stasis: In the presence of Force-nullification fields, ysalamiri-based dampeners, void-forged sanctums, or consecrated dead zones where the Force is severed entirely, the Godshackles suffer a catastrophic reduction in efficacy. Their siphoning lattice starves, their adaptive geometry loses metaphysical reference, and the chains revert to near-mundane mass and restraint. While still physically oppressive, their true purpose falters. Against such environments, Fjölnirveðr bind flesh but fail to bind fate. This vulnerability is known and accepted. Defiance of The Unchained: Fjölnirveðr was designed to drink from the Force, not from conviction. Certain beings possess an unshakeable will that does not rely on mysticism, rage, or serenity, but on sheer existential refusal. Against such minds, the chains struggle to find purchase. The runes tighten, siphon, and constrict, yet encounter resistance not as energy, but as identity. In rare cases, captives have strained against the bindings not with strength of body or Force, but with an ironclad sense of self. This internal pressure destabilizes the runechains, causing flickers, fractures, or temporary failures in stasis seals. The chains do not break easily, but they can be argued with by a mind that refuses submission as a fundamental truth.

Rebound Risk: When a captive's will destabilizes the rune matrix, Fjölnirveðr risks entering a feedback collapse. In this state, siphoned energy floods back into the chains unevenly, causing violent oscillations that can injure the wielder or sever the summoning bond entirely. Domina Prime herself is trained to recognize the signs of such resistance and must decide whether to reinforce containment or allow the test to conclude. Myths speak of star-beasts, living storms, and god-things that followed ships through hyperspace. The chains were the answer not destruction, but containment through supremacy.

Originally mundane in function, their evolution began when Prime runesmiths inscribed binding glyphs meant to anchor monsters to reality. Over generations, witchcraft, Force study, and battlefield refinement transformed the chains into a hybrid relic. Equal parts prison, weapon, and theological statement.
