ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Mega-Class Turbolaser (x)
  • Secondary Engine Systems, WhisperThrust (x)
  • Reflec Camouflage, Dazzle Pattern (x)
Strengths:
  • Heavy Weapons: The FIV Falcata, staying true to its namesake, can bite deep. Armed with a higher than average loadout of weaponry, it is able to hit hard - even boasting a First Order proprietary Turbolaser.
  • Dancer: A petite profile coupled with powerful engine systems allow the Falcata to nimbly adjust course and avoid common firing lanes with ease. Given her below average armor plating, her speed and manueverability are paramount. Likewise on the assault, her speed and manueverability make her a hard target to catch. With speed and manueverability, the Falcata is capable of quicker turns and adjustment to the ever changing field of battle.
  • God of the Hunt: Equipped with several auxiliary systems and insulated with more of a keen eye to reducing excess electronic transmission and detectability, the Falcata is a natural born hunter, just like those who command and crew her. Equipped with both standard drives and an auxiliary WhisperThrust drive, the Falcata can slink about in dark corners of space or the edge of a battlefield without nearly as much attention as her peers. Likewise, a Dazzle Pattern of Reflec coating along the hull can aid her in returning inacurate or difficult to determine sensor readings on an enemy's console.
  • Lone Wolf: Over time and in addition to its advanced systems, the Falcata is still a pack hunter but boasts increased capabilities on its own. Not nearly as dependent on the "Pack", the vessel is well equipped to survive on its own for extended periods of time.
Weaknesses:
  • Glass Cannon: Lacking any meaningful anti-capital vessel countermeasures, once the jig is up - the Falcata better be on the move. Without the benefit of heavy armor, she relies on her speed and manueverability as her primary defense.
  • Paper Walls: Though she boasts a mean toothy offense, the Falcata's Ammunition Magazines are fairly thin. The risk of premature detonation is relatively high if the vessel experiences heavy volumes of fire. Being as large as they are due to the sheer number of explosives, they provide a larger target area and bear a greater risk to 'Citadel' hits.
  • Shield Coverage: Due to its specialized systems and reliance on offensive weaponry, the shield footprint has been reduced significantly near the engines and the offensive weapons turrets along the hull. Though strong enough to deflect a few glancing blows, direct hits drain significant amounts of the already low capacity shielding. Due to the decreased shielding, the ship's weapons and engine systems are more vulnerable to damage.
  • Power Routing: Unable to run both the standard drives and the WhisperThrust drive simultaneously, power must be rerouted from one to the other. To do so requires a notable vulnerability - engine downtime. While capable of re-adjusting power in the field and under fire, there is a noticeable gap in propulsion capability while the system is rerouting from one drive to the other.
Description:

Originally designed as a "Pack Hunter", the FIV Falcata has seen significant upgrades and modification that allow it to be more self sufficient. Even so, to crew the corvette is far from a safe task. Because of its dimensions, many commodities have been removed in favor of function. Comfort is not a consideration - from crew quarters to ameneties. Even the heads have been pared down in size. As the original "Chasseur-Class" failed to reach mass production, the Falcata has evolved over time. Systems added, modified, tuned. While it doesn't suffer from as many problems there are still plenty of growing pains.

The Mega-Class Turbolaser is by far one if its most notable features. The sheer stopping power it provides well above the capabilities of any standard production corvette. With slight modifications to the Falcata's weapons system, two additional Proton Torpedo Tubes have been added as well as several other auxiliary systems, though those are non-offensive in nature.

The first of these features is the inclusion of an auxiliary WhisperThrust drive. Though unable to operate both drives simultaneously, the addition of the WhisperThrust gives the Falcata a huge boost to its capability to stalk shadowy corners of space and the battlefield. It should be noted that because the primary drive system and the WhisperThrust systems cannot be operated simultaneously, there is a short period of vulnerability while rerouting power during which the vessel will be, in essence, dead in the water.
