End of the Beginning

Always a test.

The pits was where Raien Keth taught, where the harder of body and mind survived or were broken. There were a hundred ways to train an apprentice, Raien’s apprentices were forged from fire, died or were burned out, there was no other way he knew how to train, then to see their ultimate force potential realised at any cost, having done so perhaps a dozen times now.

He had carved out a small area, seen it built up to exacting standards, hot stone underfoot, training pillars in the center with bladed weapons, fires at the edges, and not for dramatic effect, for underneath beasts lay snapping at the heels of the unworthy or those ill fated steps.

Stone, uncompromising, the suited armor of Krayt’s last memory sat kneeling at the core of this place. There were not many lessons left in him, time was short, and if the apprentice should approach he’d hear the voice in his ear, of one who carried that last legacy in his very bones now. He would do well however to not confuse finality with weakness, for that would prove a deadly mistake.

“Answer your approach.” A challenge from the very beginning, why was he worthy, why did he approach? The phasing voice of Darth Surtr demanded, in truth there was need of one final apprentice, and if he was worthy, he would be given more than he could understand, a future, and destiny, it was for him to take or die trying.

Desired Teachings:

Tutaminis: The skills associated with tutaminis all related to the idea that, through the Force, somone could draw potentially harmful heat or electrical energy into their bodies and diffuse it or channel it away completely. Viewed as a starting point for further study in the Force, the Council of First Knowledge designated the study of tutaminis to be taught during the very first classes at academies. While the basics were expected to be mastered upon graduation from the academies, development of these skills would come over an entire life time. In addition to deflecting energy weapons, this ability could eliminate the harmful effects of other energy based Force powers such as Force lightning. With additional effort, after absorbing a blaster bolt or Force power the user could utilize the absorbed energy to heal his or her wounds or manifest other Force powers. Tutaminis was also described as a "non-harmful Force drain." can block lightsabers.

Force Lightning: Force lightning was a purely offensive, energy-based attack that channeled Force energy down the user's limbs, hurling arcing bolts of electricity from the wielder's fingertips or palms; Force lightning could be executed with either one or two hands.Powerful discharges would branch out into dozens of smaller forks; thus, skilled practitioners could target several foes at once.

Double Bladed Lightsaber tecniques: The original double-bladed lightsabers devised by the original Dark Lords of the Sith Empire were of a sophisticated design, consisting of a single lightsaber mechanism with two sets of emitters, one on either end of the hilt. One of the finest examples of such a weapon was the lightsaber of Exar Kun, which was converted from a standard lightsaber after Kunprocured the schematics from a Sith holocron. The doublesaber design was simplified in later years, retaining a single mechanism, but featuring an enlarged hilt. Whether this was an intentional design change or simply the result of contemporary manufacturers being incapable of replicating the original mechanism is unknown. However, most saberstaff designs were extremely simplistic, consisting of two separate lightsabers with connected pommels, rather than a single mechanism. This design, while less elaborate, also resulted in a considerably lengthened handle, though it otherwise remained the same.

Jar'Kai Tecnique: Jar'Kai was originally a style of swordplay that utilized dual blades, developed by the Yovshin Swordsmen. A similar dual-blade technique referred to as Niman was developed by the Royale Macheteros of the Kashi Mer monarchy.Niman was adopted by the darksider group known as the Legions of Lettow during the First Great Schism, as well as the Jedi Order itself. Niman was developed into the sixth form of Lightsaber combat, retaining its name, while Jar'Kai became something of a blanket term for dual-blade combat. It should be noted that the fourth form of lightsaber combat, Ataru, was also known to employ dual blades as part of its training regimen.

Telekinesis: Telekinesis, abbreviated TK, was a neutral ability that most Force-sensitives had which allowed them to manipulate physical objects, air currents, air pressure and air pockets, as well as creating and/or controlling physical impulses and forces, such as pressure, friction, kinetic energy, and even gravity, all with the power of the Force. The ability was virtually ubiquitous among Force sensitive individuals and organizations, though the techniques could differ greatly. It had a tremendous number of applications, both combative and utilitarian.

He handed the datapad filled with every plan of combat he had to [member="Raien Keth"] for his approval. It wasn't easy getting its contents however he had to rummage through the ruins of the temple in Coruscant and his reckless assault had left him wounded. Spesifically two blaster shots on his left shoulder. He had not get them treated, for every wound was a lesson and every lesson was a key to survival.

His chosen education had been the most appropriate for his fightning style, for his father had always teached him with a staff, and Jakkar had come up with the idea of an unorthodox fightning style. Use of two lightsabers through the uncommon Jar'Kai tecnique with both of them having the ability to strap on to one other creating a double-bladed lightsaber and utilizing both of this tecniques in one fight. It would be hard to master, but it would give him many advantages.

Tutamnis ability gave him the ability to absorb lightsaber attacks, which Jakkar planned to utilize for the handle of his double-bladed lightsaber. He had read that the handles of the lightsabers were a very large and common target for the opponent who planned to destroy the saber. He planned to get rid of that weakness. But he didn't have the materials for these lightsabers. He only had the lightsaber he had taken from another Jedi.

Telekinesis would help with his combat and would remove him a massive thorn from his side.

Force Lightning was essential for him. And he would use it almost everywhere.

With that he turned to his new master, it had been fortunate for him, finding a master almost immidetly. He had every intention of being loyal, it was in his roots since his father had almost knocked it into him. So he spoke up, "Thy bidding, Master?"

To say his apprentice was organized was an understatement, the betrayer made certain he’d either be reinforcing that quality or balancing it, either to bring out potential to extremes or carve alternatives into his apprentice’s capacity. Such was the way his mind analysed and broke down a situation, what could be gained by every act.

Acts which were counting down, each moment was one less he’d have, like each wound he took.

The data pad was levitated in the force and brought in front of him, still kneeling on hard stone, several minutes of silence followed, one might say to test his apprentice's willpower or reaction. Standing slowly the one thing that was evident is Jakkar wanted deeper darkside techniques, which was a goal anyone should aim for, but he would need to find that inside of himself before they came forth to his command.

He needed purpose, reason, and it needed to be grounded as firmly in his mind and body as possible.

“What is the force.” Raien’s voice demanded still looking forward, he levitated a small knife off one of the training racks and it began to rotate, a second from other side followed its movements, he began to pull them inward. Cold metal certainty, coming closer, but gradually so toward the potential.

There wasn’t a lot of time for pleasantries, and with what he was tasked to teach, they had to cut right to the point of it. “And how does it serve you.” Two very simple, direct and defining questions.

"What is the force."

He stood there kneeling in the hard stone, before the man who would either turn him into a Sith, or kill him. Jakkar was being carefull to keep a stone face and not to show any weaknesses to the man in front of him. trying to hide his famous boiling impatience for he wanted to get into the demonstritive lessons immidietly. His impatience had been his most vital flaw and his now deceased father had managed to point it out almost everyday through his life. But he understood the point of his Masters questions, it would define who he is as a Sith.

With this thougts Jakkar spoke up the answer "'Tis everything Master. You, me, the galaxy the very air we breathe." It had been an essential question, he hadn't needed the force to sense the seriousness that was literraly oozing out of the air. But he didn't lose his footing for he intended to make his master proud and of course his family... Justice would be served.

"And how does it serve you?" The master asked the apprentice, not showing any approval or dissaproval. It had been very straightforward so far, but he didn't mind it. It got along with his personality

Immidietly Jakkar answered "Through emotion, my Master." It was true, for he had always caused the accidental powerful attacks when he was at his most emotional moments. Like when he killed all the pirates that had killed his family with a powerfull explosion of lightning, and when in the battlefield how he repulsed all of the battlefield backwards when he called back to his emotions.

"Emotions will lead me to victory, Master."

Now to show him how, exactly how.

Lining up the Knife.

Yes he was right, but more. “The act. Creation, destruction, all things that are, will or have been.” The action was what mattered, became real. A flicker inside of Jakkar… a string to pull, and a thread to use. Everything was a weapon and so a method to train to resist or harness it.

Twisting the Blade

Keth’s concentration once used to balance him on a knife edge with precision, lost to more primal tendencies, was turned inward, and not lost in the mind or focus on Jakkar. There was loss there from the acolyte, he could not be specific yet, but it was motivating from his apprentice, it could be twisted. The two knives facing Jakkar came closer.

Threats made real.

Always present threats. Any attempt to move the two knives was resisted in the force, held fast like the danger they were, always ready to kill. Symbolic.

“When you lost…” He had done this dance far more times than he’d had students, on enemies, allies, rivals to release potential from each. He was prodding to see what fell, what could be twisted, even without the details.

In a moment life and death happened. Cold steel and certainty of those weapons before Jakkar’s eyes, intended to remind him, to be his first test. “See their faces, know what they felt. SEE IT

And emotion made into technique.

He let his apprentice act on the knives, which picked up speed. To reach in the force to throw them, to expel them, else they may cut him like they did his family. Could Jakkar find the emotion, the connection between reason and action, the past and what he could be? Using it to throw those knives aside, or would he die like they did? Any psychological image given to Raien was attempted to be magnified tenfold in Jakkar's mind intentionally, vividly as if it were yesterday.

He had felt the presence of the knife even before it was revealed. Years of nothing but training on an isolated moon with a father with supreme military training would do that to you, but now with the added enhanced senses through his now-revealed force. How he endured his father's relentless ambushes. In dinner, while he was walking around aimlessly even when he was playing with his siblings. His father had been a cold man until he had completed his training. And by the end of his training his father was never able to have him by suprise again. Even then he had felt something before his father's ambushes. A slight twitch of father's hand, a strange coolness in the air, a ticking sensation before the weapon was prepared to be lodged onto his back...

"The act. Creation, destruction, all things that we are, will or have been" The master had told him while pressing each word's syllables. It was clear that he considered him a weapon. But his master's appearance told him that he considered everything a weapon. Even himself, mostly himself he corrected himself.

He lifted his head looking at the knives coming closer to his face when suddenly he felt a rush of fear, did his master decide that he was unworthy? No! He roared in his head. Fear is a waekness! Only the weak would gather power from what made them weak! So he steeled himself with all his cold fury and faced the possible end to his life with his head held high.

Instead, his master started another speech "When you lost..." The knives were know in level with his eyes and he could almost sense the eagerness of the steel to just dig into his eyes and claim his life. "See their faces, know what they feel. SEE IT!" And suddenly the knives were retracted.

And thrown back at him, with increasing speed.

He had only survived thanks to his long life training, he had rolled back and harnessing the strength of the dark side through his anger that had suddenly burst into life with the knives coming at him to claim his life, trying to prevent him from claiming his justice. He had barely enough time to be able to grab the knives, but not their hilts. But with their blades, the blood making his hands go slippery and causing the knives to sink through his hands to almost reach his head.

He tried to use the force to keep the blades in place but it was proving futile, so he did something crazy. (Not that he had any semblance of sanity left. He had left that within the moon he lost his family)

He let go of the daggers for them to simply resume their rocketing towards his head and ducked down, barely in time before the blades lodged themselves in his head. The daggers passed overhead but before they had the time to head back around with increased momentum, with all his strength he pushed one of the knives at [member="Raien Keth"] spinning -and was really suprised when it worked- and grabbed the other on its hilt and lodged it into the metal ground with all his might with the added strength through the force.

With exhaustion he collapsed down, his adreneline fading...

Seemingly satisfied with his apprentice’s first harsh steps into telekinesis, the incoming knife was pulled aside in the force with a strong tug sending it behind him. "Yes." More importantly using his emotions as a weapon, Jakkar had grown his ability and understanding significantly, seeing that he could go beyond limitations at their calling. “Stand.” His Master commanded, fueling the darkside through his own body, force enhancement, energy pooled into each muscle and unlocked, uncramped or rejuvenated his body beneath the armor, at least that which still existed whole.

“The body weakens, what’s Sith stands, your drive and purpose, forever cultivate it, look at what is going to sustain you.” Sustain to go beyond normal limits, push, control or drive. Sith faded into obscurity, fell to the Jedi, or often died when their purpose, or what drove them ran out.

“The death of family is the start, seek more.” His voice phased in and out, lacking for real continuity in expression, but befitting the final stage of his own evolution, which was unique to each force user.

There were many sabers to pick from, some small, some large to find technique fitting to Jakkar. How to twist the knife to create. “Take your choice of weapon.” Keth demanded, waiting for his apprentice to do so. “Arm your weak hand, and strike at me.” Because if his apprentice wanted to fight with two weapons, his offhand would need instructing. The weak hand… what did a sith do, or better yet Jakkar do when confronted with weakness, his Master had chosen his words very carefully, as both a means to find out, and a means to educate.

Standing there completely still, Keth waited for the apprentice to begin, his weapon not even yet in his own hand. “The unexpected happens. Those we care about die, because we are restricted to what we know, or are comfortable with doing.” It was time to go beyond it. He’d shown great promise utilising the past and emotional trauma as a weapon but the technique to greatness, and what was necessary to utilize it to its fullest potential, that would be taught as they went.
