Jedi Nomad

The air in the Naboo forest was different, alive, somehow. It hummed with quiet song, soft and sacred, woven through the rustle of leaves and the low whisper of wind through moss-covered branches. Pari Sylune stepped lightly over the tangled roots of an ancient tree, her boots damp from the morning dew, her senses open and alert. She could feel the presence of the Force here, old and deep and serene. She paused, taking it all in. This place felt… right.
The sacred forests had called to her, though she couldn't explain how. The vision had come during meditation, fleeting but persistent: a clearing bathed in golden light, a stone cottage nestled in its heart, and a feeling of peace so profound it brought tears to her eyes. Now that she was here, standing in that very clearing, it was as if the forest had remembered her. There it was, the cottage.
Small and timeworn, built of mossy stone and half-curled vines, it looked as though it had grown from the earth itself. Smoke curled lazily from a narrow chimney, and a wooden door hung slightly ajar, as if inviting her in. She stepped lightly towards the dwelling, and a rustling sound soon met her ears. She paused, searching for the source. That's when she saw a shadow moving from the side of the cottage. She changed her path and stepped lightly towards the side of the well worn home.
Her teak colored eyes fell upon an old woman who was humming to herself and tending a flower bed. Pari smiled at the pleasant sight, and was about to say hello when the woman spoke.
"Dearie whatever you are selling I've already got two of them."
Pari chuckled softly and took a few steps closer. "No ma'am. I'm not selling anything. I just came to visit the forest."
"I see." The woman still hadn't looked up from her garden. Her flyaway gray hair covered a forehead that had began to perspire. "Well it is a lovely day for a stroll."
"Yes ma'am. They say a great healer once lived in this forest."
"Do they now." The woman didn't seem interested in the tale at all, or perhaps she'd heard it a thousand times? Either way she still didn't look up when she spoke again. "That's an interesting necklace you have on there. Do you know what it is?"
"No ma'am. I've had it since I was born."
"Well child that is a lightsaber crystal. You know the weapon of a Jedi?"
"I do ma'am."
"Then you must know you can construct a lightsaber with that crystal. Tell me... why haven't you? Aren't you with that lot up in the Sanctuary?"
"I am but.... I don't know how ma'am."
"Well it sounds like you have some studying to do. Come back if you ever figure it out."
"I will ma'am." Pari sounded determined. Something about this old woman was curious and Pari felt instantly connected to her.
"Do or do not, it makes no difference to me."
As Pari turned to leave she couldn't help feeling like that last line wasn't quit right.
