An aircraft design selected to join the First Order's Starfighter Corps modernization project. It is intended to fill the immediate need for a craft fitting the role for dedicated atmospheric flight operations. Aerodynamic compatibility with the most prominent worlds inhabiting First Order space was a chief concern, which in turn caused diminishing returns for the TIE Striker's space-borne capabilities. The craft is capable of operating in space alongside other space craft but must be unloaded of any munitions during planetary entry for fear of inadvertent detonation from the heat exposure.
