I-Dead Drops
A Dead Drop is how you, as an Agent will communicate with your handler in the field, and other Agents. Direct communication when on assignment with coworkers can be a deadly affair, even with the use of complicated codes or encryption. To prevent you from jeopardizing both your own life and the mission certain rules must be observed. Both you and your ally will agree upon a location where information will be able to be covertly exchanged over the course of a few hours. The basic concept is, that when either wants to communicate with the other they will send a predetermined signal. Which can be anything from a chalk mark on the wall to a certain book placed in a window. Once the signal is set the other operative will meet at the agreed upon drop location to receive the information the other operative signaled for. The information could be anything from a holodisk to a scrap of notebook paper.
Direct communication is advised against unless absolutely necessary or otherwise specified by Command and mission directives. You never know when the enemy may be watching. They will not hesitate to kill or worse, capture you, if the opportunity presents itself.
II-Asset Building and Retention
Much of your profession relies upon your ability to manipulate the people around you into seeing the world as you want them to see it. This will draw upon your instincts, on reading folk around you. When you need to gain access to a certain group or draw information from them through an asset you will need to know who to pick. Look for marginalized members of the organization that may be aggravated with their status, patriots who have become disillusioned with their nation, or loners who simply want affection. Various methods can be used to attain and keep their trust. Again, when the mission is on the line, nothing is off limits. Use your own judgement and be prepared to ask for assistance from another Agent if you absolutely hit a wall with your mark and can't seem to make a connection for any reason.
Mimic their actions enough to make them comfortable but not enough to make you creepy. Appropriate eye contact based on your cover story is also needed. A confident soldier will likely maintain a rather steady gaze while an insecure bookworm likely will not, you may be called upon to play either or both.
