First Order Fitness Drive-OOC/IC Drive

How many of you write characters with much higher physical abilities than yourselves? I know I have at a pretty high frequency and have begun to feel a bit.... guilty? Because of it, so, within reason I'm setting various goals for myself based on what I'd imagine my character could accomplish and invite others to do the same! This will be a shifting sorta deal that will advance further as goals are met, shooting for December 1-7 with these.

2 mile run time- 16:40
Goal-15:00

Pushups (2 minutes)- 70
Goal-100

Sit ups (2 minutes)- 65
Goal-90

Weight-215
Goal-175

ICly we can work OOC experiences into our characters and push them as we push ourselves.

[member="Collin Calhoun"] It's good to see you back man, if under a different guise!

A little faction-wide fitness competition? Eyy, I'm in. I've been working on my running lately too, as luck would have it.

The First Order - the fashiest faction both OOC and IC!

Likewise dude. Yeah, got on with another road crew so ended up traveling around again with suppperr long work days.

Noice. Hoping we can get a lot of folk on board, build camaraderie and whatnot.

Where ya at with the running?

[member="Collin Calhoun"] I've been working on improving my endurance as well, with a slightly different routine than yours but still basically working on the same thing.

Just ran 3 miles the other day in 25:49. However, that was on super hilly terrain because there's no such thing as a flat road around me. I have no idea how much faster I would be on a track. My goal is to get around the 24 minute mark. I'll post my numbers tomorrow. What running shoes do you have?

Currently boots, gotta buy some more running shoes, was hitting it hard (9 miles on the eliptical in a hour every other day with the two mile at the end of every week) when I was in Tulsa but slacked off pretty heavy when I hit the road, started to notice a gut :p

Monarchs though back at the house. You?

[member="Collin Calhoun"] Boots? Don't kill your feet!

I have a pair of cheap ass Under Armor running shoes right now, but I need to upgrade. Probably going to go with New Balance or Basics, as I hear they're the best. I know there's the crazy minimalist people out there who run essentially barefoot, but I'm not about to learn an entirely new running style in order to accomodate that.

Being flatfooted I wear insoles in everything anyway xD Definitely wouldn't be a good idea for me to go minimalist.

I'll probably do swimming at the hotel pool until my next paycheck.

Oof. Dunno, it's been a year since I got out of the Marines. My best time there was a 21:15 3 mile time. Now though, I know that's likely upwards of 30.

I'm just starting to get back into the swing of things, took a year off and looking at myself in the mirror isn't exactly fun anymore, so time to get back on that horse!

I'll have to post a 3 mile time the next time I do one, I've been working on doing weights and plyometrics so I don't have a solid run time. I'll let you know when I do get out there!

New Balance make really excellent general running shoes. I don't know if it's quite applicable where you guys live, but if you're somewhere with a lot of municipal/state/federal parks, I really highly suggest getting a pair of dedicated trail running shoes, and run trails. Bonus points if its hilly terrain. :)

It's a more intense cardio workout, but it can be worth it. Plus I really enjoy natural scenery while I'm running, as opposed to a track or city streets kind of environment.

I have no idea what all your highly advanced sports-jargon is, but I shall try to contribute, IN THE METRIC SYSTEM, MUAHAHA.

No one makes the hero bleed.
All I know is I'm less fucking fat than I was months ago. I was 242 lbs or 110 kg and now I am 226.5 lbs or 102.7 kg. Just walking, lifting weights and being less of a fatty at the dinner table. Oh, and stopping with the being a lush.

This right here is what keeps me coming back to the faction. Awesomeness folks. @Mael Ten That's some solid progress man, I've always had a problem with managing the diet part of it myself. Pizza and Fast Food are a bane on my progress that I'm cutting out.

Update: Push ups at 78, Sit Ups Holding, Run should be (At a hotel with work so taking advantage of a chance to do water workouts for cardio) holding. Adding a goal to hold my breath underwater for 4 minutes. At 1 currently.

My workouts have been on hold due to the fact that I've been sick for the past couple of days, but I'm going to attempt to hit the roads again today for a run. I'm almost better but still not 100%, so I won't be taking my normal pace.

I'm also running a 5k on Sunday. Will post the results of that too.

So, my best 3 mile run time is now 23:30 (with some hills/elevation changes).

Still have no idea how well I'd do on a flat surface, but I'm happy to finally get under 24 minutes. On a good day I'll run under 24 minutes pretty consistently. On days where I'm tired from other workouts I'll hover around the 24 minute mark or slightly above.

Pushups and situps - honestly I don't even keep track anymore. I just go until I can't go anymore. For pushups, I'm trying to do them slower now and spend more time in a plank position.
