Ryley Maevis

Spicehead/Fresh Prince of Belgaroth
Ryley turned to look at the man when he approached and removed the helmet. A battered but good looking face was revealed that looked like it had seen a lot. It was impossible to not notice Darkgear's scars, and Ryley had a feeling the man had more than a few galactic tales to tell.

"Pleased to meet you, mister Darkgear, lovely junker you got here. I'm Ryley."

Ryley winced at the slap on the back, noting the solid metallic feeling of the man's hand. He was intrigued as well as intimidated by the man who called himself Darkgear.

"Let's get outta this chithole."

Darkgear made his way to the cockpit, going around the red speeder before reaching a rusted ladder. He climbed up to the main cabin with ease and looked at the messy area before him. Torn seats, trash strewn about, rust creeping in around the corners. Yup, this place was one step above a prison barge. Plopping into one of the damaged chairs, Liam flicked a few switches, turning on the engines. They fired with a shudder and a large groan, shaking the whole ship. The ramp was closing automatically, and the experienced mercenary prepped for takeoff.

Ryley watched Darkgear walk away and sit at the cockpit. He couldn't resist following, stepping over some rubbish along the way. The controls up there would be interesting to see. When he laid eyes on the numerous switches in front of the pilot, Ryley wasn't disappointed. Even with how junky the ship was, there were too many controls for him to be able to guess what they all did. He wanted to ask about the function of each one but kept his mouth shut, just watching Darkgear's hands for now. The rumble of the engines was like nothing he had felt before and it excited him. He could practically feel their energy as they sent vibrations through the ship.

There was one thing Ryley couldn't help asking.

"Got a destination in mind, sir?"

Darkgear shrugged, looking behind him at the junkie.

"Dunno. You've heard of Dxun before?"

A few more flicks of switches and the Outer Heaven was floating up, ready to fly off of the planet. A button was pressed and the main engines fired, sending the rust bucket flying out, ready to exit the atmosphere.

It also sent the spicehead flying back, out of the cockpit and back into the cargo hold.

Liam smiled to himself. He 'forgot' to mention that seatbelts were needed during lift off. Oh well. He was sure the kid, that Ryley, would live.

Ryley thought to himself, trying to recall a time where he had heard any mention of a place called Dxun.

"Dxun? I don't think I have."

He placed a hand on a seat beside Darkgear to stabilize himself when the ship began to rise. He watched as the scrapyard planet sank below them. What a view. There was the boom of more engines firing up, and before he realized what was going on, his feet were off the ground. He flew backwards like a rag doll and was caught by a hard wall, the back of his head smacking into a cold surface with force.

Ryley's limp body slumped onto the floor in the cargo hold. It would be a while before he was awake again.

Darkgear looked behind him, saw the unconscious Ryley, and smirked slightly. Well, that took care of one problem. With a jolt and a shudder, the ship exited the atmosphere of Belgaroth and ascended to the stars.

With a few button presses, Liam plugged in the coordinates for Dxun. The Outer Heaven zipped out of the mass shadow of the planet, prepping for the jump to lightspeed. All was silent as the only thing heard was the clicking of switches and presses of buttons as the hyperdrive warmed up, ready to leave this dumpster and head to the jungle

Hours later, Ryley opened his eyes. It took him a while to move as he quietly sat there in screaming pain, trying to figure out what had happened. He was extremely disoriented and once he realized he was on a ship, he couldn't remember how he had gotten on one.

Eventually he planted a hand on the wall to assist him in getting to his feet before he struggled over towards the pilot.

"The hell happened?" was all he could manage as he sat in a seat beside the man, slouching in pain. The question was addressing lots of things, including how he had ended up on the ship and why he was in so much pain. The answer hadn't come back to him yet.

Ryley would have been staring at the stars in fascination if his senses weren't all blaring in pain. He felt a little nauseous too, to make matters worse. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply, almost falling asleep again to ignore the agony.
