Faction Feng's Knighting

n1bwi2l.png
Had this Knighting ceremony happened a week before, Oryn might not have worn his smile with such relaxed ease. There would be familiar anxiety of feeling left behind and dread for his own future. Now so much was changing for Oryn. Instead of bubbling up within himself he had sought out others, and found he was not alone. He even had a Master now. He was on his path, Feng Huang Feng Huang on hers.

The Force lights a path for those willing to take the time to listen.

It allowed him to feel happy for her, genuinely, and take part in celebrating her victory.

Oryn spotted Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell in the crowd, the once intimidating Knight now a familiar face, and walked up to him. "You know, it's funny" he said, coming up from the side. "I grew up idolizing the Jedi Knights. Now it's someone I know, from before." It didn't diminish it at all. Turns out, Knights are people too. The perfect warrior of legend could do no wrong, yet seeing someone he knew take the mantle… It helped him see the title more for what it was, instead of the illusion cast about it. It helped push some of his concerns away. He chuckled. "Times change."

He stood, watching in respectful silence as Feng's master completed the ceremony. Then he leaned in Balun, so as to not disturb. "Do you still keep in touch with those you knew as a Padawan?"

"Happy Knight Day," Dominique echoed. Not quite the right time to remark on the subtle humor in that sentiment.

The Chancellor's brow lifted at how brazen Feng and Ayumi flirted with one another. Well, it was a celebratory mood. "The question is whether the Knight can handle you." Feng was aware of just how wild Ayumi could be, Dominique hoped. Wouldn't do much for any belief in giving up worldly pleasures. Hopefully Wuxia and whomever else had taught the young woman wasn't that sort.

At Feng's insistence, of course, the group gravitated toward the food. "You know, I never have asked what sort of cuisine a Jedi favors." Were they predominantly vegetarians? Vegans? Dominique could appreciate the effort of maintaining a healthy body and mind, but an utter lack of the more exquisite flavors in the galaxy should be considered the sin -- not the responsible slaughter of animals.

Dominique looked over at Verity with a smile. The pistachios might not be necessary this time around.

Verity aimed a particularly warm smile at Feng. All the more extraordinary because it was from a woman who, on the whole, was not known for her warm smiled. "Congratulations, Knight Feng. So well deserved. Ah -- I have something for you, if you'll allow it." She snapped open her handbag and withdrew the small flat box. Inside was the cloak clasp that Verity had commissioned.

"I wasn't sure if this was a gift-giving occasion," she admitted sheepishly. "If it isn't -- well -- consider it a token of my thanks for looking after me when I'm out gallivanting with Senator Pallopides. For looking after all of us, really." Verity smiled and passed the box over to Feng. "The Senate Ethics Code compels me to reiterate that this is a token in celebration of a significant life event and not -- I repeat, not -- a bribe of any kind."

Feng noticed Oryn Selvar Oryn Selvar and Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell standing off to one side. A frown flickered over her face briefly, she wanted people to mingle and meet, but she didn't want to intrude on peoples personal space. Feng shrugged there was no harm in offering the invitation to meet others.

"Oryn! Balun! Come get some food!"

" Colette Colette Aileni Ifor Xeraic Aileni Ifor Xeraic you too!"

Feng turned to Dominique Vexx Dominique Vexx and Verity Stuyveris Verity Stuyveris .

"Thank you both so much for coming. I t means a lot" Feng said in gratitude.

Feng grinned unabashed at the Chancellor's comment.

"I'll do my best to keep what I've got." Feng said in reply

"Oh it's Aakaashian. From my home system it's vegetarian based lots of tofu replacements for the meats. It's really yummy! Please try some!" Feng gushed..

Feng the acknowledged Senator Verity with a small bow.

"Oh you didn't have to." Feng said as she took the gift gratefully. She admired the cloak clasp with a soft smile.

"Thank you." Feng said with another bow.

She laughed when she heard it was not to be considered a bribe.

"No getting past me for unscheduled appointments with Ayumi. Despite your wonderful gift."

Feng beamed at Master Wu and saw a strange look on his face perplexed, a little hurt perhaps. He glanced significantly at Ayumi Pallopides Ayumi Pallopides . Feng winced. Right time for her girlfriend to meet the person who raised her.

"Master Wu this is Senator Ayumi… my girlfriend"

Wu was a little hurt that Feng hadn't introduced him to her girlfriend. Did she think he wouldn't approve? Wu was of the believe that love wherever it was found was one of life's greatest gifts to be cherished, acknowledged and celebrated. He was happy that Feng had found someone. Someone who was evidently unafraid to claim her in front of a crowd of people.

Wu grinned and bowed low to the Senator.

"A pleasure to meet you, Senator." Wu greeted the newest most important person in Feng's life.

It was a little odd to no long be that person, but not in a jealous way more in a nostalgia that the young girl he'd seen raise to adulthood was all grown up. That she was moving on was a good thing, the right thing to happen. Exploring her life in ways that Wu couldn't help her with. It was a natural progression of life. Still a small part of Wu couldn't help but remember fondly the girl who had dyed her hair purple in a braid for all those years.

Wu put on a mock serious face.

"Tell me what are your intentions towards my Feng?" Wu asked with mock severity.

Feng's face was mortified in horror.

Wu broke out into a laugh.

"My apologies I just wanted to pull one over on Feng. An old masters prerogative."

"I have intentions to get her to join me on a clothing optional beach and make out." Ayumi looked at the jedi master as she said it with a completely straight face. Letting it hang for a moment but she was enjoying the moment. "That is if she wishes to, alas Denon is still developing is oceans but we have a beach and she has done wonders protecting my body from harm. Jedi Feng is very hands on in her endeavors and goals of ensuring nothing touches me. I compliment and respect the discipline you taught her." SHe said it while she was there and didn't need to look at Feng, she didn't know if her face was going to be red but Verity and Dominique knew plenty. At least they were not going to Mcyoda's though she had some recommendations.

"Ah, Oryn", Balun smiled as Oryn Selvar Oryn Selvar approached from his right, a welcome sight; "I wondered if I'd see you here", he warmly added. Perhaps his assumption had been on the mark, and the young Nautolan was indeed part of the same pack as Feng Huang Feng Huang ; "Yes, it seems we have one less Padawan to teach, and I'm no longer the new guy in the mentor roster", he chuckled softly, glancing back towards Feng, her Master Wuxia Wukong Wuxia Wukong and Ayumi Pallopides Ayumi Pallopides .

Padawan Selvar's mention of reverence towards the Jedi didn't go amiss, though Balun couldn't quite relate. The Jedi had been all he had ever known, even on the outside when he had walked independently as a rogue Force User. A lack of belonging and residual resentments towards a family he hadn't yet come to know had marred his own perspective of the galaxy in his early adolescence. The Jedi life had been the one he had received, but not of his own choosing, and thus, he had instead admired those with family, normal lives, and trusted friendships. All things he had found in life now, yet none of which had come with ease.

"The temple on Coruscant was my home as a boy, the New Jedi Order the family I was raised by", he explained in vague answer to Oryn's question of his former peers. There was only one who came to mind, she who had started out with the Jedi and inevitably succumbed to the Dark Side of the Force. The mother of his young boy, Kellan Dashiell Kellan Dashiell . "Unfortunately, I'm not certain where any of them are today", he added, speaking without a hitch in his tone, despite the emotions that sought to rise in his recollections. He kept them buried deeply, focusing instead on those he saw before him.

When Feng Huang called out to them, encouraging them both to eat, Balun's gaze flicked back to the newly knighted and raised a hand in a wave, an acknowledging gesture, and accompanied by a fond smile, though he didn't call out above the chatter of others among them. "Though born on Coruscant, I am very proud to say that the Jedi of Naboo are home to me nowadays", he concluded, speaking to Oryn as he glanced back to the younger man.

Happy for the distraction from the subject of his past, however, Balun took no hesitation in suggesting: "Shall we grab a bite to eat before your pack mate throws something at us?"

Food was always welcome, even if a bit unorthodox. Colette took her plate and nibbled at a token portion. In reality she wasn't particularly hungry, but when food was offered—

Oh wait, that was a sushi platter.

Nevermind. Colette stacked a small pile and took a seat.

Once she caught the attention of Feng she gave the newly-knighted Jedi a smile before chowing down on the food that was inarguably her favorite.

Good ceremony, good knighting, happy councilor.

"Aakaashian. I haven't had the pleasure," she replied to Feng Huang Feng Huang . Though the idea of tofu replacing meat didn't sound... exquisite, Dominique stepped closer to acquire a few samples anyway. One of the benefits of being a Senator of home was not needing to indulge in other cultures... and in particular their culinary selection. As Chancellor, however, people needed to see a lack of fear in trying or embracing the familiar.

To think Dominique had to forego wearing one outrageous outfit after another from Denon to inspire young girls everywhere to break out of their fashion molds. It pained her. She'd just have to inspire them to other pursuits and hope someday they'd learn just how much variety there was in self-expression.

She looked up from the dishes to observe Feng accepting Verity Stuyveris Verity Stuyveris 's gift. A slight nod of the head and a smile accompanied the exchange; and the smile may have been a touch more bemused than usual with the Senator's very clear statement it wasn't to be considered a bribe. Sweet Summer Child, the woman wouldn't know how to bribe someone if a planet's existence depended upon it.

Wuxia Wukong Wuxia Wukong then receive a friendly introduction, and seemed delightfully accepting of the arrangement at that. Some times Jedi were surprisingly open minded. Shame she'd yet to find one that understood the stark necessities of corporate politics, but Dominique might one day find a diamond in the rough.

It was in that moment, however, that the Chancellor stopped, set the utensils down, and looked up at Ayumi Pallopides Ayumi Pallopides . Sweet Merciful Heavens. If Dominique didn't have as much control over her physical reactions as she did, the Chancellor of the Republic would have been seen palming her face. Instead, they'd merely find her staring and blinking with Ayumi in mind. Obviously, Ayumi hadn't quite caught Wuxia playing the doting Father figure. Or perhaps she had, but Dominique doubted any malice had been intended if so.

Dominique stepped back over to the group with a soft clearing of the throat. "Yes, Knight Huang has been exceptionally adept at her duties, and embodying the ideals of the Jedi Order. Which is way no one here today would object to her passing the trials and receiving the honor of being called Knight." Try to refocus the conversation back on why they were there, and not on Feng's optional clothing state on a Denon beach.

"Nothing of the sort," Verity assured Feng with a half-smile. "In all seriousness. A great accomplishment. Congratulations, Knight Huang, and well-deserved."

Although Verity's eyes widened as Feng described her relationship with Ayumi, but to her credit, the Senator didn't allow her head to swing over to Ayumi immediately. It was hard to tell with Ayumi; she had displayed a flirtatious nature around Senate staff and others, so it wasn't terribly surprising that she ended up in a relationship with Feng. Both attractive women, in close quarters, things happened...

Verity was painfully aware that this was none of her business.

She was also concerned about the ethical implications. A Senator, a Jedi bodyguard, office politics, a power imbalance --

No, Verity told herself. Feng is a Jedi -- now a Jedi Knight. If she has a problem, she will address the problem.

She cast a glance at Dominique and allowed her brows to lift as if to say: Well then. She considered whether it would make good sense to add another few thousand credits to the Senate slush fund for the settlement of hostile work environment claims. Just in case.

As the food began to pass, Verity carefully added a few things to her plate. She was an adventurous eater, luckily, and this all looked delightful.

"Here, here," she added to Dominique's commendation. Then she indicated something vivid red on her plate and said, "Now, Knight Huang, can you tell me what this is? It looks... very opinionated."

Aileni gave a small applause as Feng was knighted. It was always good to see another member of the Order progressing. Aileni knew that his time would be long from now, he was still seeking a Master that could handle his direction and nature. As well as someone who would understand his prodigal skills that he seemed to display when training. His arms crossed over his chest as he watched the ceremony, seeing the way that the knighting ceremony went. It wasn't dragged out which was something that he thought was a relief.

The Padawan Shadow gave a wave to Feng, with a small smile on his lips, showing that he was happy for her. Then he stepped over to the table of food, looking at the various items of foods on there. The usual pang of hunger triggered within Aileni as he looked over the different items. Everything looked good and he was curious to see how it tasted.
