Federal Cooperative (FedCo) is a consortium of state-owned enterprises, worker cooperatives, and designer collectives. It’s origins lie with a cooperative founded in the city of Tyrena, planet Corellia, in 453 ABY by graduates of a local college. Their first product was a cigarra lighter receptacle for starship dashboards. This cooperative would partner with other worker-owned enterprises to eventually build their own ships,and this collaboration would eventually lead to coalesce into FedCo.

FedCo source all their starship parts from worker cooperatives across the Core Worlds, and strive to responsibly source their raw materials from the Outer Rim. They strive to maintain a supply chain system that shares prosperity, and meets the material needs of all involved workers.

FedCo accepts manufacturing requests from governments, and more discretely, from resistance movements engaged in the fight for freedom. While not loyal to any particular government, FedCo is committed to empowering people and believes the end goal of all economic activity should be to meet the needs of the people. Because of this FedCo primarily contracts with organizations aligned with the light and democracy. However, they’re not above working with shadier corners of the Galaxy.

RATIONALE

The Federal Cooperative was founded with good intentions, and has continued to strive to fulfill those good intentions. Unlike corporations which are profit-driven and beholden to shareholder primacy, the Federal Cooperative is people-driven and has been beholden to its workers. And while not a charity, the Federal Cooperative has reinvested significant resources into the communities it operates in.

In a Galaxy dominated by ruthless corporations, the Federal Cooperative stands out for being PR-friendly for democratic leaders, being a favorable choice for democracies and regimes that identify with the light side of the Force. The Federal Cooperative is co-owned by state-owned enterprises, worker cooperatives, and designer collectives, each sending a representative to attend the Cooperative Council which guides the Federal Cooperative through consensus. The day-to-day operations are handled by the Executive Director.
