DESCRIPTION

Many years ago, two rings of gold were forged. They were ordinary, unremarkable things when they were first made, destined for the shelf of a jeweler's shop on some common Core planet. These plain gold bands were eventually bought by two people who wished to bind themselves to one another for the rest of their natural lives.

But the bridegroom was a young and ambitious alchemist who couldn't leave well enough alone. In his study late that night, he worked to alchemize the rings, imbuing them with the Force. Over time the twin bands of gold would become attuned to the wearers, strengthening the connection between them until it became possible for the pair to communicate with each other across vast distances, sensing each other's emotions with crystalline clarity no matter how far apart they were.

It was a mistake. When the time came for one of them to die, the other felt their demise, amplified across light years. Grief is one thing; actually experiencing the death of one's beloved is quite another. It is said that we all die alone, and this is true, but a part of him died with her that day as the connection between them was severed forever.

The pain of loss has dulled with time and age, but the alchemist doesn't want to forget. He took his ring, the sole survivor of the two, and made something very different from it. When worn on the finger, the original gold band is no longer visible. Only the meteoric metal of the Void Stone can be seen, obscuring whatever lingering trace energies might have remained of the broken bond. It creates a void in the Force, a blank emptiness in which thoughts and feelings are rendered pure.
