STRENGTHS

• I see you: One of Chimei's properties as a quantum material is the unstable electron matrix that allows it to be used as a sensor for all kinds of electromagnetic radiation. The sensing capability is so fine that it is able to detect and map the flow of electrons in a computer circuit, allowing it to map the circuit and read the changes that come from the computer working, the sensor matrix is so fine it is able to read the computers processes and in connection with the computing power of the disk they are able to read the flow of electrons through a computer and translate that into a understanding of the computers actions and processes.
• Changing your mind: One of the properties of Chimei allows it to be used as a sensor for electromagnetic radiation, such as the field generated by the movement of current, while another allows it an exacting control over hte flow of electrons over it's own surface. This means that it is able to precisely control the electromagnetic fields which it generates. Since an electrical current can be generated by the interactions of an electromagnetic field and a conductor the Fasces Disk is able to generate an electric current in nearby conductors, such as those that make up a computer's internal systems. This ability to generate current in a computer allows the Fasces Disk to take over command of the computer by generating the signals and currents it needs to complete it's purpose.
• All your bases are belong to me: Most computing systems have some form of protection from viruses and hackers attempting to breach their systems, and many of these systems are very capable at dealing with cyber threats. The Fasces Disk is not a cyber threat but attacks the hardware itself bypassing the protections on a system. No matter how good the firewall may be, it can't stop an attack which targets the physical machine.
• Multiple Inputs: The Fasces Disk has a screen as well as a microphone, allowing for commands to be input where necessary through multiple means.
• Preloaded programming: The Fasces Disk is designed with one purpose in mind, to take over any computer it is attached to and have it obey the assigned user. While more advanced directives can be input it requires a knowledge of the programming involved and the quantum materials used in the Fasces...or Technopathy.
• Sticky tape: Micro repulsors attached to the bottom of the disk allow it to stay fastened to any surface needed without hte use of electromagnets that might disrupt the very electronics the device is attempting to control
• Oh no you don't: Each disk is biocoded to prevent anyone but it's user from using the disk.

WEAKNESSES

• Tick Tock: The more complex the computing system the longer the Fasces Disk to map the electronic pathways before it is able to take over.
• I cannae do it: The Fasces Disks only work on electronic circuits meaning that more exotic computers are beyond their control.

DESCRIPTION

For centuries the cyberwarfare holy grail was the hacking device, one which could slice through any defence while remaining easily portable. Not too much to ask at all!

The problem that confronted the engineer's attempting to build such a device was that offensive and defensive technologies always ran in lockstep, whether it be cyberwarfare, or physical combat. No sooner did a new offensive technology appear on the battlefield than a new technology to counter it would be created. It was a game of constant back and forth that only allowed for brief periods of capability before a new code was written, before defences were shored up.

That all changed with the discovery of Vajra and it's compounds. A room temperature superconductor and quantum material, which had the properties needed to allow an entirely new approach. Not a software hack as per previous attempts but a device capable of circumventing the defences of any device and hacking the hardware instead. A device against which no standard computer had any chance.

Almost immediately after he made it John started to realize just how powerful a tool he had made, but there was no putting the genie back in the bottle. Instead the devices were layered with all the security he could manage and only distributed to friends and family, those he could trust, as a emergency measure if they ever needed it.
