Following the collapse of the New Jedi Order, Jedi Master
Katarine Ryiah established a new enclave in the deserts of Chalacta, hoping to create a safe place where a new generation of Jedi could learn the ways of the Force.
The Praxeum's first students arrived for its grand opening and quickly began their training. They faced the Praxeum's obstacle course, designed to test mobility, ingenuity, and adaptability, while Jedi Knight
Solene Beroya introduced students to the Way of the Sparrow, a lightsaber technique of her own creation. As their studies continued, many padawans also undertook
the gathering, making the sacred journey to the crystal caves of Ilum to retrieve the kyber crystals that would become the hearts of their lightsabers.
For several months, the New Jedi Praxeum became a home for its students and staff. That peace ended when Black Sun attacked. Furious over the Jedi presence within their territory, the criminal cartel struck the enclave, destroying the Praxeum and scattering its students. During the chaos, young Padawan
Faelyra Vynn was abducted from the Jedi Order.
The surviving students were sent to the safety of the Jedi Order on Naboo, where they continued their studies at Shiraya's Sanctuary. But their refuge would not remain peaceful for long. Following the Sith invasion of Thyferra, the High Republic stood on the brink of total war, and even the Jedi Order began considering abandoning its home on Naboo.
Unwilling to allow another generation of Padawans to become displaced by the turmoil consuming the galaxy, a group of Jedi began making plans to return to Chalacta.
The New Jedi Praxeum would be rebuilt.
