Before the Empire, there were the Mandalorian Protectors—elite warriors who served Mand’alor directly—and the Journeyman Protectors—sheriffs of the Outer Rim, keeping the peace on their own terms.
Now? They ride again as One.
The Mandalorian Protectors are a living blend of both legacies: part lawkeeper, part legend. They don’t wear polished armor or sit behind desks. They ride the lonely roads of Mandalorian space—and beyond—upholding common law, settling disputes, bringing justice where none remains. They serve the will of the Mand’alor, not with speeches or summons, but with a loaded rifle and a steady hand.
Their duty often places them in isolated posts or small detachments along the frontier. Yet they are no mere wanderers, they are soldiers of the Great Heathen Army. When war rises in earnest and the Empire calls its banners, the Protectors assemble as one, a disciplined wall of deadeye precision and iron resolve. Few endure when they ride united.
You don’t earn a badge with bloodline. You earn it with grit.
- Warrior – Oftentimes referred to as Deputy Journeyman by their peers; frontline Protectors who maintain order in volatile regions.
- Shield Captain – Experienced Deputy Journeyman trusted to lead Protector detachments and oversee planetary enforcement operations.
- Rally Master – Senior Protectors known among their own as Journeyman Protectors; commanders who supervise frontier sectors and direct stabilization efforts.
- Field Marshal –Affectionately referred to as the Lawkeeper within the ranks; commander of the Protector division and steward of frontier doctrine and long-term stability.
- Warmaster – Supreme commander of the Great Heathen Army; chosen by the Mand’alor to direct all major divisions, including the Protectors.
They are the badge behind the beskar.

As a formal division of the Great Heathen Army, the Protectors are tasked with maintaining stability across newly claimed territories, contested systems, and distant frontier holdings. Their authority extends wherever the Empire’s banner flies, and with that authority comes responsibility to the citizens under their watch.
They operate in smaller detachments than most Heathen divisions, often embedded within planetary governments or stationed at remote outposts. Where pirates raid, insurgents fester, or local disputes threaten Mandalorian control, the Protectors respond. They settle disputes before blood is spilled. They keep the peace when tensions rise. They stand between the innocent and those who would exploit chaos.
