Starlin Rand is a teenage punk from the Coruscant underworld. After discovering his Force sensitivity, he has begun training under Syd Celsius, a member of the Silver Jedi Order.

Born on a smuggler ship to a Balosar father and a human mother, Starlin Rand's childhood was surprisingly normal up until the age of nine, when his dad went out for death sticks and never came back. Ol’ Dad fit the Balosar stereotype to a T—he was a drug dealer entrenched in the petty criminal underworld, as well as an all-around spineless sycophant. There's a chance he was murdered, but since no trace of him has ever turned up, there's no way of knowing for sure.

His mother, Jen, was a spacer with an even sketchier past, including connections to the Black Sun. The birth of her son served as a wakeup call, and she did all that she could to distance herself from the dangers and demons of her prior life. But lingering resentment runs deep, especially from her estranged family—she has wealthy relatives who refuse to acknowledge her because of the despicable things she did a decade and a half ago.

Believing it would be good for her son, Jen gave up the nomadic spacer lifestyle and moved to Coruscant, where she hooked up with a Zabrak named Silo. He’s a washed up ex-military engineer who makes a living refurbishing used and/or scavenged parts and selling them. Silo and Starlin had a mutual agreement to live and let live, but they didn't particularly like each other all that much. Add to that the usual trials and tribulations of adolescence—angst, selfishness, laziness, irresponsibility, awkwardness, all that icky stuff—and you have a ticking time bomb.

His momma raised him right and deep down he is a good kid, but he inherited many flaws from both his parents just as surely as he inherited his daddy's antennapalps and his momma's pretty blue eyes. At thirteen he's already been arrested multiple times for drug possession and petty theft, and he's already gotten involved in the criminal underworld on Coruscant. It would be easy to blame peer pressure and a bad crowd of would-be mentors, but Starlin is standing on the edge of a very, very slippery slope that has no visible bottom. Whether he takes the leap into that abyss or manages to claw his way out, only time will tell.

TRAITS:

+ Antennapalps (Balosar): He keeps ‘em hidden under his cap, but they let him hear sounds even at the subsonic frequency. The sense of physical intuition that comes with this trait is sometimes mistaken for Force sensitivity, but it’s just a sensitivity to sounds and vibrations. Please don’t yell at his hat.
+ Resistant to Toxins (Balosar): A Balosar’s natural resistance to toxins and most poisons, particularly the stuff death sticks are made out of, can definitely come in handy.
+ Not a Drug Addict: Despite the stereotypes about Balosars and the fact that all his friends are totally into it, Starlin actually doesn't have much of a taste for narcotics. He'll smoke a death stick to keep up appearances, but he secretly hates it and will stop at the very first opportunity.
+ Force Sensitive: Hello hello hello, what’s this? He can use the Force? ...Well, I suppose it is in his blood... (see second post for more info)
+/- Thief: Do not let this kid anywhere near your stuff. He will rob you blind the minute your back is turned. He’s also been known to rob businesses, warehouses, and even ships. While he’s not as good at it as other types of theft, there’s a 50/50 chance he’ll be able to pull off pickpocketing. When caught in the act, however, he is basically defenseless and will have no choice but to run away to evade capture.
+/- Deadpan Snarker: They say sarcasm is a sign of intelligence, or at the very least proves a heightened awareness. Starlin does have a decent brain underneath all that messy hair and could probably achieve much more if he were to put it to good use, but that likely isn't going to happen any time soon given how things are going. As it stands, he remains a lazy cynic.
- Prone to Peer Pressure: He's fallen in with a bad crowd many times, and he probably will continue to do so many more times in the future.
- Inferiority Complex: He's insecure about his own capabilities to the point where he will fail to acknowledge any reservations he might have about a bad situation or poor decision.
- Blind Follower: He tends to assume anyone who shows the slightest bit of confidence must know what they’re doing. This is a huge mistake.
- Teen Angst: I'm just a kid and life is a nightmare...
- Jerkass: He’s self-centered and somewhat petty, if only because he doesn’t really know who he is yet. Cut the kid some slack. Or don't. He probably deserves it.

APPEARANCE:
A skinny kid badly in need of a comb. Bit of an old soul. Soft-spoken with a throaty voice. Dresses in hand-me-downs that are too big for him. Always wears a black cap.

Uhhh she was born on Alderaan, her parents died when she was 2-3 years old, three years later she got abducted by the Sith and experimented on, oh hey Force powers but oh no they're too strong, help! Then her dad Nimdok suddenly reappeared back from the dead and she was like "Daddy! " and he was like "what the nuts, aren't you supposed to be in an orphanage?" and then some action stuff happened. And Nimdok realized she had been experimented on, and he felt guilty, but only kinda, because he wasn't really her daddy, he was actually an alien shapeshifter named Arimanes who was posing as her daddy! :O But then her real daddy's ghost possessed him and said "I'm raising my kid and you can't stop me" and Arimanes said ":/" but he at least complied and went along with it. Then they went on adventures that I have yet to write.
Some day hopefully I will be able to RP as yo gurl Miri, assuming I don't bounce outta here before she ages up to thirteen. In that case I'll probably still use Jodelle Ferland until she reaches adulthood, at which point she'll be replaced by some vintage lady.

She definitely won't lose the dark curly hair, deep-set eyes, and slightly pointed ears, though.
