DESCRIPTION

Perhaps the most pronounced quality of this armor lies in its simplicity. There is nothing revolutionary about its design, but it is rather the product of two lives dedicated to war. It’s stripped of all unnecessary features, reduced to nothing but the very core of what the two commissioners deem useful. Aver, who is famously stubborn about efficiency, and Loray, who loves nothing more than a perfected instrument of killing, put their expertise together with the technical skill of the Galaxy’s best and brightest, distilling their collective knowledge to create the brutally utilitarian suit of armor dubbed the Exodus.

The construction started with the Shark skin underlay, replacing the armorweave usually found in heavy- and medium-class armors. It’s highly effective in dispersal of heat and blaster bolts, and can withstand a glancing blow or two from a lightsaber, should one make it past the plates on top. Above it resides a layer of Kinetic Impact Gel – KIG for short – serving a double purpose as protection from the elements and from the kinetic energy that is arguably the most common reason for death when it comes to armored individuals. While it cannot annul the concussion damage, it does a great job of dispersing the force, greatly mitigating the potentially lethal consequences. The final stage was the addition of phrik plates in strategic places, layering the torso and back, the legs, shins, shoulders, upper and lower arms, and of course the gauntlets. The helmet (and its rebreather) were fashioned from phrik as well, and the visor from Solarium Glasteel.

That constitutes the crude base armor, and it is fully functional that way. However, due to the nature of the work they engage in, the pair sought to outfit their suits with a few essentials they have learned come in extremely useful in the field of battle. The boots of the suit can be magnetized for the purpose of zero-gravity movement, and a few mag-clamps can be found on the arms, thighs, and back, where various ammo packs, external utilities, and weaponry can be safely attached and held in place.

With all that said, it is doubtless the helmet that is most rife with systems meant to enhance and further the user’s deadliness in combat. For the most part they are what passes for standard military equipment, but with the Equalizers being who they are, they sprang for a few additional functions that can easily mean the difference between life and death.

Strengths:

  • Resistant: Seriously resistant. This thing can take a beating, and then some. The combined effect of Phrik, KIG, and Shark skin does wonders for all manner of incoming damage, furthering the wearer’s life expectancy even in the thickest of melées. This in no way renders the user immune, however, and sustained attacks will cause irreparable harm, just like with any other suit of armor.

  • Light: For its role in combat, the Exodus is fairly light. This is achieved through the stripped-down components of the design and the usage of Shark skin and Phrik, which are both lightweight materials. In turn, this allows for a greater degree of flexibility and stamina than most armors of this class.

  • Jack of All Trades: Ultimately, the Exodus is more than just a suit of armor; it’s meant to be a daily companion to its wearer, and it is therefore optimized to be used comfortably both in mundane and battlefield situations. This is further enabled by its modularity, allowing the user to add and remove features as needed.

Weaknesses:

  • Master of None: Due to its minimalistic design and the Equalizers’ need for versatility, the Exodus doesn’t excel in any particular field. While it may suffer no major drawbacks either, it certainly lacks any prominent advantages that would put it leagues ahead of other armors of such quality.
  • Heredity: Every armor is nothing more than the sum of its parts, and the same holds true for this suit. All the materials used in its construction retain their weaknesses, which can be exploited by the educated opponent.

Primary Source: Inspiration lovingly drawn in part from certain creations fashioned by ArmaTech.
