Intent: To be the main production of EXO Inc. and to give NFUs a chance of matching the strength and agility of force users making melee fights between them more equal and interesting.
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: EXO Inc.
Model: Exo V1
Affiliation: Sold exclusively by EXO Inc. for military/factional use.
Modularity: Can be modified in size to fit different species, but only during production.
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Durasteel

Classification: Performance Enhancing
Weight: 10kg
Quality: 2
Special Features:

  • Increases the wearers agility by using the robotic movement of the legs to move quicker than if the user's legs were operating on their own.

  • Increases the wearers strength by using the strong joints of the suit to output more force into actions such as lifting, pushing or fighting.

  • Reads the wearer's brain and nerve signals to receive commands, making reaction times much quicker than suits that utilise hand controls.

Description: The Exo suit is designed to increase the strength and agility of it's wearer without becoming a permanent attachment. It is secured simply by retractable metal locks on the wrists, ankles, waist and back. The areas along the spine are scaled to allow maximum bending motion, and the arm and legs of the suit consist of two bars connected by a metal joint at the elbow/knee. This joint has a maximum of 110 degrees movement (from fully outstretched inwards). The bars of the arms are only an inch or so thick in diameter, whereas the leg bars are nearly 2 inches in diameter. Above the back part of the skeleton runs another scaled line that connects to the nerve reader. This is attached to the back of the head by a very small, but averagely long needle that intercepts the brains electronic signals without damaging or slowing them. This is where the suit receives it's commands to move the various parts.

The suit is designed and created in a way to keep the amount of durasteel needed to a minimum, without compromising its purpose of strength. This allows it to be mass-produced, which is helpful when it's market is for Military use. Each skeleton has a serial number printed on the back to allow for easy cataloguing of stock and as a seal of validity for the buyer. The Exo's main purpose is to even the playing field when fighting force-users, making it an ideal piece of equipment for military groups who do not have force-users and will be engaging them. However, even if the group is fighting other non force-users, it will give them the upper hand, making it even better in that situation.

The Strengths of the suit are it's primary purposes; to increase the strength of the wearer and to increase their agility. With the skeleton itself doing most of the work, the wearer can exert much more power and force when lifting, pushing, punching or kicking. Their agility is also increased as the suit's joints move much faster than the organic joints of the wearer (in most species' cases). Stamina can also be said to be increased, since the suit does most of the work and therefore the wearer's muscles feel much less worked. Even if the the wearer is at the point of physical fatigue, the suit will still function and move as normal as long as the person can think clearly.

However, the Exo suit has it's weaknesses. Firstly, it provides no protection from any form of attack, except for the slim chance a standard blade or stray blaster bolt may hit the thin bar of the skeleton instead of the skin. This is unlikely though, and so additional armour must be worn under the skeleton to provide protection. Secondly, although the suit is designed to be used against force-users, a well trained one could mess with the wearer's thoughts and brain signals, confusing the suit and rendering the wearer almost useless. Although in this case if the force-user did that even without the suit, the wearer would still be unable to act, and so it isn't a disadvantage that solely applies while wearing it. Also, because the bars of the skeleton's limbs are so thin and are unlike conventional armour in shape, they are easier to snap if hit too hard or be cut by a lightsaber. Finally, the nerve-controller on the back of the head could be ripped off, rendering the wearer unable to control the suit. However this could be prevented by wearing headgear, or simply by being aware of the need to protect the back of ones head.

RESEARCH REVIEW

Star Wars Canon

Starwars Chaos

WITHOUT DEV THREADS
  • N/A Based on current submission (With no development thread I would need anything that increases physical strength or agility removed, but that appears to defeat the purpose of this if that were to be the case.)
WITH DEV THREADS
  • 10 Post Development Thread for research & development (testing, applications, research, etc). Go wild with this, it doesn't need to be focused on any one thing, and I don't suggest you stop at ten - go as far as it takes you to get your thread to an end that satisfies you.
SUGGESTIONS
  • Any "power suit" types of armor or implants which increase the physical prowess, and in some cases mental prowess, will generally require a development thread. If you go to submit another of these kinds of technology in the future, it is highly recommended that you have a development thread ready, anywhere from 10 to 15 posts, and the more work put in the more you will get out of it.
