Everything's not o-Kay

John Ash

Only by Fire do we become Ash.
There is was all over the holoscreen that was playing in the bar. A red haired woman was running for some kind of public office on Commener. She looked kind, caring, and generous. She spoke and people listened. Everything about this woman just oozed out the best kind of traits a good person could have. She was woman of the people, full of charity and goodness. There was nothing bad that could be said about her other than she didn't have a bad bone in her body. She would be a wonderful influence to the government of the planet, and probably do great things in the future......

John sat there watching this woman as he drank a beer at the counter. He had found himself on the planet, but for what reasons was he here? None of your concern that's why. He was here, he was drinking, and he was watching the feed on the screen. He ended up finishing his beer as the woman finished speaking. He said as he set the empty bottle down, " I'm gonna rob her." The bartender turned to the man with a raised brow and asked, " You are going to do what to whom now?"

John turned to the bartender and said with a grin on his face, " Oh none of your karking business to who giving a poodoo you acid thrown in face victim looking mothah." As he finished talking he was off of his stool and quickly walking backwards to the door while flipping off the bartender with both hands.

The bartender scowled and screamed out, " You didn't pay for your drinks! Get back here right now you bast-" But John was out the door before the sentence could be finished. He started walking towards the area that woman from before was giving a speech. He was gonna rob her and rob her good. Maybe he would even get something valuable out of it and be able to "justify" it to his bosses in the Black Ties. Course that was only IF he got something valuable out of it.

Kay was up on the podium, though she wasn't a red head. Perhaps the holovids made it look that way, but she was a brunette. It wasn't as though she was fond of watching herself. If anything, she tried to avoid it. Giving speeches was also something that she wasn't quite used to. Doing so in front of the Senate was different. This is in front of a voting public.

".....We have to continue to work together. Commenor is one of the best and most secure trade hubs in the Galaxy. Illegal goods are kept out of our borders, and those that try to smuggle them in are caught and charged. As we speak, Crime Lords are continuing to try to get a foothold on our streets, but together we can stop them, just as we commit to ending slavery in our sector. And with the One Sith inching ever closer, we will be protected. Our strengthening ties with the Republic will help that. Commenor will not fall to them, and if by chance we are overwhelmed, then like the patient and cunning people we are, we will fight back. I have allies in all corners of the Galaxy. If we have to fight, we will not fight alone. And you know me....I will not hide in some bunker. I will be on the ground, in the trenches, wherever I am needed most., wherever you need me most. Please vote with your hearts as well as your minds, but most importantly, vote for our future."

She smiled and waved to those in attendance before stepping away from the podium and heading backstage. Oh that was cheesy, and she knew it. But that's what those kinds of speeches were like, right? Kay wasn't a really good speechwriter, but she hoped it worked. She had the Elders' permission to run. In fact they orchestrated the whole thing. In a way she felt that it was her duty to run, though more than likely, those that put her up to it wanted her to be reigned in and not running around so much.

Kay had to wait now, wait for the crowds to disperse before she could go to her ship. She wasn't planning on going to the campaign office. She hardly spent any time there. There was always excuses for her to make up.

The speech was over, people were cheering still even though the red head had already left the stage, and John was waiting outside of the exit from the backstage that lead towards the docks. These were all facts of what was happening right now. He had been able to wait out there in secret because no one was guarding the door for some weird reason. The security of the place really needed to be better, someone could get robbed this way. And who would want that to happen anyways. John did. He wanted someone robbed. Specifically he wanted that red head robbed. By him.

John just kept an eye on the door as the crowd by the stage slowly drifted away. They sure had been pumped up after that pretty little speech of hers. Something about crime and illegal activities? It was as if she was wanting to be robbed. And who was John to not do what a pretty red head wanted him to do? So he just waited there for her to show up so he could do just that. He eventually pulled out his vibroknife and began to play around with it. Sure was taking some time, but he could wait. What was he in a rush for anyways? To go to his job? As if someone with as pretty a mug as his had a boring job anywhere. Nope, he was his own man doing his own thing whenever he wanted to do it. The good life. Yeah...... Now if only she would hurry up so he could go not pay at another bar again.

A half hour had passed, though it seemed like longer. She had spent that time on her datapad, sifting through messages and pledges of support. Her Jedi friend was busy tending to another smuggling operation. She figured that he'd enjoy himself more doing that than hanging around to watch her talk.

Kay packed up her datapad into her satchel and plopped it over her shoulder, exiting the stage door. She raised a brow as she spotted [member="John Ash"] nearby, playing with a vibro knife. Nobody just stands there for no good reason. She gripped the strap of her satchel as she always did when she was slightly uncomfortable. Time to figure out what the man wanted. "Can I help you? Or are you just waiting for someone?"

Still no one had come to challenge him being here. No one had showed up at all actually. He had been completely alone for who knows how long. Maybe half a day or maybe half an hour? He didn't know and its not like it mattered too much. He was here for a purpose and that purpose was to take what he could while he could. It was the life of a rogue, and the life he loved. Who wouldn't want to do whatever they felt like despite whatever the "authorities" or "laws" or "morality" said? Certainly not John.

Suddenly out of nowhere someone started to talk to him. He looked up and was pleased to see Lady Luck had struck again. It was the red head that he was after. He grinned to her as he slipped his vibroknife back into its place. He said in a cheerful tone, " Well you certainly can. I heard your speech and just had to meet you. Were you serious about what you had to say about stopping crime? What a noble thing to do! But how do you plan to stop it? Any special plan? Maybe something that is all worded pretty by a pretty red head like yourself?" John finished it off with a wink and a smirk. Oh how fun this was all going right now. Who would have thought his mark would come to him like this? Certainly made things easier for him.

John would wait for her to ease up, or not, and say something back to him. They always said something back whenever he spouted off some kind of made up poodoo that sounded nice. Although he was a little curious what her plan might be for stopping crime, because he was about to commit one. It might help with any future fun he might get into on the planet. He would wait for her to say a bit then suddenly whip out his vibro knife. With two quick flicks he would attempt to cut the straps of the satchel as he grabbed the bag portion of it and run away as fast as he could. The good old snatch and run. A real classic move for a real classy guy.

Kay blinked while [member="John Ash"] spoke. Now he was a sassy one, that's for sure. She raised a brow as he asked her for details. As if she'd give those away to perfect strangers? Hardly. And his condescending tone towards the end didn't help either. She wasn't a red head! The guy must be colour blind. Not that it mattered. "Excuse me? Who are you exac-" Her words were cut short as he whipped out his knife and tried to cut the strap of her satchel. But her hand was already holding it, so that when he tried to take it, she was already clutching the bulk of her satchel with her other hand. "Hey!!" There was no way that she was going to let go. She lost her satchel once to a bounty hunter and she wasn't about to lose it again. "Do you have a fetish for women's clothing or something?!" Hopefully that would give him pause.

John was a little surprised to see she was paying more attention to her bag than most women did. What was in the thing? She was holding it like her entire life was in it or something. Maybe this bag WAS valuable after all. He had to have it now for sure. Clearly this was something he could take back to the Black Ties and maybe get something more than a 'really? you stole that?' look from everyone. He sure was tired of them always looking at him like that. You steal a bunch of burgers from McYodas three times and suddenly you are a petty thief. They just didn't understand. Didn't understand at all.

John was upset she just didn't let him run off with the bag. That was rude of her and it kind of pissed him off. Who was she to deny him his hard earned trophy? Clearly this lady needed to be shown a lesson. A sharp lesson. If she was going to hold her hand onto the bag like that, then he was going to give her a reason to let go. He gave her a grin with a stern, upset look on his as he said, " Not too sharp are ya lady?" As he spoke he held onto the bag with one hand and attempted to stab the hand she was using to hold onto the bag with his other hand. He didn't even notice what she had said earlier about women's clothes. Honestly that would have been more reason to take the thing. Some real perverts out there would pay a pretty credit for used women's undergarments.

Kay saw [member="John Ash"] move his hand to stab hers as they both struggled with the bag. He was clearly quite determined. She let go with the hand that he tried to stab and kicked his left knee hard with her foot in an attempt to bend it backwards. She wasn't much of a fighter. But nor was she always alone. Appearances can be deceiving. [member="Veiere Arenais"] , her latest hire was always nearby, even if she couldn't see him. It was his job to look out for her, especially now that she was running for office. "You're not so smart yourself if you think that you can get away so easily! Now let go!"

John Ash

Only by Fire do we become Ash.
John didn't stab fast enough. She moved her hand away, but it seemed the red head still had a vice grip on her bag with the other hand. To make things worse, she kicked him in the shin! That hurt, not enough to bow his leg in, but enough to hurt. She then called him stupid. The guy with the knife trying to steal the bag which she would not give up and somehow he was the stupid one. Its like this woman had never been mugged before! Who in their right mind didn't just let go and call for police officers? Its like this woman wasn't sane or something. And this woman was running for office on safety policies. Clearly she didn't need to get elected.

John scowled at her as he finally got enough. He could stab the woman, and wasn't entirely opposed to it right now. But that got messy and she was a public figure and he liked red heads so he shouldn't. So instead he said, " Yeah, thats right. I'm the stupid one here. Red you got some major problems, and should feel lucky I'm not going to stab you to death today." As he finished speaking, he would try to stab the bag and rip down it so all the contents would spill out onto the ground. Hopefully it worked because it would be easier to just snatch something off the ground and take off with it. Why were red heads so stubborn?

Kay's eyes widened as [member="John Ash"] stabbed her satchel with his blade. Already she could hear her tea cup and kettle breaking, as well as her datapad. Not to mention her clothes were probably ruined as well. The water bladder burst, spilling it's contents throughout the bag. Even so, she still did not let go. Instead she grabbed his wrist that held the blade and dug her fingernails into his skin. Then she stepped towards him and attempted to knee him in the groin. There was no way that she was going to use the Force on him. The last thing that she needed was for the thug to blab off her secret to the entire Galaxy. "Only a coward attacks those that are weaker than himself!"

The sound of the satchel's contents getting completely ruined was the best thing John could hear right now. It was so satisfying to know that he was ruining this woman's day right now. She should have just let go of the bag, but no she had to make things difficult. Well this is what she got for it. She got a bag full of torn clothes, ruined china, and a shot datapad that might not be recoverable. It just felt so much better than if he had actually gotten to steal her bag. Now no one could use it.....till it got fixed.

John frowned when she grabbed his wrist. Who did she think she was? She was still acting like this? Well he was done playing nice with her. If she wanted to be so stubborn he would teach her why it was a bad idea. Before she could move in to knee his groin, he let go of the ruined bag with his free hand and swung a punch straight for her nose as he stepped into her body. He would attempt to knock her to the ground with the full weight of his body after the punch. If all went well, she would be on the ground and he would just take off. Kark her and her bag. He could just steal more beer from the local bar after this. Maybe even spread some slander about her on the holonet. Now if only he knew her name.......

The force pooled to the right side of the outdoor clearing, a shift in presence that only [member="Lady Kay"] would notice due to her sensitivity to the Force; it drew in around the right hand of the older male, dressed within gray worn robes of the old Jedi Order, he focused all his concentration to his center and then to his hand of which he extended towards that of [member="John Ash"] with enough precision that the wave of telekinetic energy would not connect with his employer. The blast was brief, it would be enough to propel the two away from one another should it connect with the assailant, though not nearly enough to cripple the man; Veiere wasting no time to jog the short distance to make Lady Kay's side whilst looking to John having caught him mid-act of assaulting the former senator and with a bit of luck, soon-to-be president. His left hand moved to sweep the cloak away from his side revealing the lightsaber hilt attached to his brown leather belt, it was a show of authority yet he did not draw, instead hoping that the man would take the hint and cease the rather foul choices he had been so intent on making prior to Veiere's arrival.

"Assaulting an Electoral Candidate is considered a capital offense in most worlds, the punishment for which is most often severe regardless of the circumstance..." Veiere's tone came firm, not cold nor hostile, showing no real hate for the man yet again issuing him a clear warning that proceeding further would result in a far worse fate than that should he take the hint and run. As far as he'd been able to piece together, this man was a thief. That didn't make him a priority one threat, that meant him a Rogue yet this was a petty crime and given Kay's list of enemies ever growing, the fact was that this man could have been an assassin; she was rather lucky.

Slowly he moved to step ahead of Kay, positioning himself between them so that even Kay could not interject. Veiere expected her to disagree with what he was about to say next yet again, for such a petty crime, there was no point in someone being injured or worse, killed over such a thing; it was his nature as a Jedi to see the medium and decide a morale justice based upon what he saw in and of others. "I suggest you leave, quickly and quietly, it would not be below this woman to call upon her security; if however you choose to persist, I'm afraid I will be forced to act in a manner you will regret a great deal in your future days...".

Kay was shocked as [member="John Ash"] let go of her bag as she stepped in. With him about to punch her, he was stepping in to meet her halfway. It would have been a brutal blow to the face had [member="Veiere Arenais"] not used a Force push to intervene. Still clutching her bag, she stumbled back as her body guard took over the situation. She trusted the Jedi's judgement and remained silent as she waited to see what the would-be robber would try to do. Already she was berating herself for being so foolish. It was growing quite clear that she would hardly have any time alone now, given the increasing size of a target on her back. The state of crime on Commenor was worse than what she thought.

John was about the have the sweet, sweet satisfaction of fist against face when something weird happened. Instead of the sudden impact of his knuckles ruining that red head's pretty face, he was pushed backwards away from her. It was as if he got hit by a blast of air strong enough it knocked the breath out of him for a moment. A strange man walked over from somewhere nearby and began to talk. He went on and on about crimes and security and boring stuff, but John didn't hear any of it. He was fuming right now. Who did these people think they were? This was a damn robbery not some kind of cheesy romance movie where man saves woman from mugging and then woman falls madly in love with man. No this was real life and in real life when someone held a knife up to you and tried to take off with your shit you let the handsome rogue take your shit. But no these two were ruining EVERYTHING.

John was about to say something when he got an idea. He threw his hands up into the air and held them there as he said, " FINE! Have it your way crazies. Count yourselves lucky I am letting you keep your lives. I am done with the both of ya." He began to walk backwards away from the both of them. He kept his hands in the air and his eyes locked onto them. They were about to learn their lesson. You don't mess with the natural order of things. Next time that crazy woman got mugged she would let just let them take her stuff and not try to put up a fight. And that guy......kark that guy. Lecturing like he knows everything about everything. As he got to the corner, he quickly reacted into his pockets with both hands and pulled out thermal detonators. He activated them and tossed one high and rolled one low at the both of them. After he did this he sprinted around the corner and hauled it. Kark those two! He hoped they just had a blast with his going away presents.

[member="Lady Kay"] [member="Veiere Arenais"]

[member="John Ash"] appeared to be conceding and slowly stepping away; for all intensive purposes it seemed that he was taking the break while he had it and yet on the edge of Veiere's mind, his focus solely upon John, the Force still seemed to call to him as if to alarm or warn him of an impending threat. This was not a particularly rare skill for Jedi to have, precognition lay at the heart of reading and understand the communication between ones self and the force, each different to the individual devoted to their training. Even as the man turned away to leave, Veiere did not take his eyes away from the scene; Lady Kay at his back and to his appreciation, not trying to argue the former Jedi's decision to let him escape soundly.

The moment came swiftly with little precious seconds to react and the life of [member="Lady Kay"] as well as his own, Veiere watched in sudden anticipation as John Ash released two spherical devices low and high of them. Explosives, it was the only explanation and these particular ones he had come into contact with long ago, nasty little explosives far more powerful than your typical grenade. "GET DOWN!" He yelled loudly and with more authority and aggression in his voice than the Lady would be used to hearing in him. Both of his hands extended to either explosive en-route and mid-air, taking a hold of them in sustained telekinesis, he quickly attempted to throw them skyward. He was desperate but they weren't propelled fast enough to escape the impact of the blast. Veiere turned as his senses erupted about him first, grabbing hold of Kay before being thrown from his feet, an intense heat surrounding the two of them while the environment behind the Jedi crippled and flung shards of rock and lifted the dust from the floor clouding them and the criminal's escape.

He sputtered, trying to push the smoke and dust from his lungs that he'd inhaled, his mind rocked though his body still intact and his cloak saving the rest of his attire from any real severe burns. By the will of the Force it seemed that he had just narrowly kept them from meeting their end. He shifted, trying to give Kay some space, worried that he might have injured her in his attempt to shield the former senator; his right hand tearing the searing cloak away and tossing it to the side while he, in full stumble, attempted to regain his footing, his mind still in crisis mode and trying to establish where the male was. "Motherless Kriff..." He swore under his breath, finding little but smoke and debris scattered around them, his attention returning to Lady Kay and offering a hand in assistance back to her feet. Unless Kay had other idea's, the local authorities would need to track this man down, a report filed as petty theft had suddenly become attempted murder and that of his charge. Soon taking Kay by the arm, he looked to her in concern and spoke with haste, "Come on, we need to get you back out of harms way; C-Sec can take care of the rest...", Commenor Security hopefully able to live up to the job. If not then Veiere would have to keep his focus keen.

Kay gasped as [member="Veiere Arenais"] yelled at her to get down. He grabbed her and then almost instantly, the shock waves from the explosions caused by the detonators that [member="John Ash"] tossed, threw them both into the ground. As Veiere coughed to clear his lungs, so did she, keeping her eyes shut tight as she waited for the dirt and dust to settle.

And then she was lifted to her feet. Kay opened her eyes then and checked herself over as she dusted herself off. "Yeah, I'm okay." He didn't ask, but her ears were still ringing. It was only a matter of time before she could hear normally again. "Let's go back to The Free Lady. I need....I need some tea. I need to think things through. Are you okay? And thank you."

She couldn't quite get over what happened. It wasn't as though she knew the guy. Yet he wanted to kill her. C-Sec would have to find him. Hopefully it wouldn't take long to bring him in. In the meantime, she had to try to play it smart from now on. Yet she didn't want to seem as though she was different from everyone else and ran on different rules. But that was the way things were now. She had to rely on those that she hired and trust their instincts, no matter how much her stubbornness says otherwise.
