Event Proposal: The Desrial Project

THE DESRIAL PROJECT:
Sand swirled around him, whipped up by the warm, dry wind. It was not his job to mind. No, his job was to look through ruins uncovered on Belgaroth. While most of it was hard work... the rush of discovery made it all worth it in the end. Learning about the past was all he cared for. Though he couldn't say the same for his teammates. Most of them were here for the money. Not the wondrous, full, exciting history! Just the credits they were thrown when it was all over. At least a few of the guards found his work to be important. Only a couple ever slacked off. If it was up to him, they'd be fired! Maybe they would be when his findings changed everything...
Ishmael smiled at the thought.
"Hey sir... I think we found something!"
One of his underlings rushed up to him, wiping a bead of sweat from their brow. For once the woman seemed pleased to be working on such a project. Ishmael knew she was telling the truth. Otherwise she wouldn't have interrupted his lunch break. No one ever seemed to bother him unless they had to. Not that he minded. So with a grin he jumped up, and dashed to the dig site's main area. Doing so required weaving in and out of piles of scrap. This wasn't exactly the Protectorate's most important archaeological zone.
Though that would change soon. Another worker was walking towards him, holding what appeared to be an old datapad. The markings on it suggested that it was from during the height of the Gulag Plague. That made it priceless. More importantly... it appeared to be in functioning order. That did concern Ishmael. How had it survived for so long? Especially out here, in this wasteland?
Before he could try and answer his own question, a loud explosion filled the air. Dust was thrown into the air all around them. It sounded like several junk piles collapsed as a secondary result. Instantly their comms were filled with chatter... and a strange wailing.
"Sir! We need to get out, now! Something's coming on the horizon!" A guard yelled, pulling on Ishmael's arm. Screeching started, growing louder with each second. Several assistants lay on the ground. Dead. What had happened? No answers were given. There was no time. The few that had survived the blast were running to the shuttle. In the distance more junk piles were toppling over, sand was being kicked up, and mechanical whirring threatened to burst their eardrums.
Someone screamed.
One member of the team was pulled underground, never to be seen again.

Only two people made it onto the vessel in time to escape.
Ishmael quickly set to work on the datapad, hoping it would lead them to an explanation. It turned on without issue. There was one, and only one, file on it. The file's name?
"THE DESRIAL PROJECT"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Long ago, during the height of the Gulag Plague, a group of dark-sided force users banded together in an attempt to survive. They isolated themselves on several barren planets Belgaroth, Asmeru, Dagobah, and Moorkja, to name a few. For decades they worked in underground labs. Not once did they leave. It's unknown what exactly they worked on...
But one thing is for sure:
Whatever it was, it's still out there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:
The discovery of artifacts on Belgaroth lead to a devastating chain reaction of events. Suddenly various dig sites and ruins across countless planets seemed to be destroyed overnight, with no obvious cause. Relics of a time long past are popping up more and more, the finding of each seeming to lead to more disasters. Some believe it's a curse created by Sith Lords to protect their hideouts. Others believe it's something far more sinister...
Sightings of strange creatures pop up. Horrible things that can move incredibly fast, break through durasteel walls with ease, and move about without making any noise. They start to appear more. Soon they're attacking in broad daylight, destroying towns, killing innocents, and bringing sickness wherever they go.
The Protectorate must act. They must discover who created the beasts, what they are, and why. They must heal the sick, rebuild towns, and fix what was broken. And they must defeat the monstrosities.
Or they will die.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y'all asked for event ideas. I came up with an event idea. This allows for people of any type to join in. Fighters work with beating up the monsters, scientists and doctors research the diseases the beasts bring, and techy/history-lovers get to explore the history of the Desrial Project.
Suggestions, feedback, questions, and etc are welcome.
And appreciated.
