Strengths:
  • Fast: In and out of hyperspace, this ship is extremely fast.
  • Hidden Cargo: The cargo areas are shielded from most types of scans.
  • SLAM System: When SLAM is engaged, it becomes even faster at sublight.

Description: After several encounters with various authorities in Aurora, he felt that further smuggling operations would require a less unique ship, on the outside. Unable to just take a ship and leave it alone, he spent some significant wrench time tuning up and fixing up one of his favorite freighter designs. The Washburn Class freighter, an update on a millennia old Firefly Class Freighter, lacked any weapons, but had plenty of space for modification if you knew what you were doing. As he still maintained Aurora and Aegis Security, the lack of weapons didn't bother Keric in the slightest, as it was one less system to upgrade and maintain. Instead, Keric focused on making the ship fast.

To make it fast, Keric took an ages old hyperdrive design and tweaked it. The Series 401 Hyperdrive Motivator was ancient, but with newly machined parts it worked like new. He manipulated it further by removing a few failsafes, and adding in a few redundant coils spaced evenly throughout that helped stabilize the field it was creating when it jumped to hyperspace. This allowed him to increase the range and speed to something he'd only ever seen come from the hands of one of his all time heroes, [member="jorus merrill"]. Along with this uptuned hyperdrive, Keric installed a secondary that was just below average in speed and range. For both legal shipping and smuggling, time was always of the essence, and unlike the engines crafted by Jorus, his uptuned Series 401 would require extensive upkeep.

In sublight, speed mattered almost more than in hyperspace. As the ship was without weapons, his greatest advantage against pirates and system navies would be his speed. He modified the sublight pods on the starboard and port sides that housed the Washburn's standard sublight engines. In their place he put ion engines, each pod receiving a pair of 'twinned' ion drives. The twinning process required that the engines could only activate if both halves of the twinning worked. If one of the twins on the port side drive were compromised, the port side engine wouldn't turn on at all. To these pods, he also added a SLAM system. It would reduce his maneuverability to next to nothing, but give him an extra push to get him out of trouble. All of the modifications to the engine pods required extra control units within the ship, which required Keric to remove the wing side housed F-LER that the original Washburn maintained.

Keric completed his upgrades by installing military grade shielding and sensors, purchased through blackmarket connections, and installing two systems that would further help him to evade pirates and system navies. The first was a hyperwave inertial momentum sustainer system, allowing him to avoid interdiction fields. The second was Silk Holdings Olie Astrogagational Guidance System, which allows him to make significant course changes in hyperspace without having to revert to normal space first.
