After the Imperial Forum . . . .

Once, many, many years ago he was guarding these halls, patrolling them and protecting its inhabitants from threats, executing their enemies and hunting their opposers. Now it was his for they had died and their ideals and strength seemingly with them. Even the Empire of Kalidan could never revive the same feeling and light the same fire of loyalty as the actual Eternal Empire had done. It was a personal matter and Imperius was not the same person anymore.

The Imperial Forum was going better than anticipated but he also did not expect it to yield any results at all, considering the nature of Imperial Remnants and their proud warlords. Self-indulgence and imagined self-importance were all too common among those that found themselves wielding the power to decide for the first time, found a grain of authority in their hold and added Grand or Lord to their title without second thought as they now were the rightful ruler and successor of what once was. It was tedious. Just as the permanent adherence to fallen dogma and lost legacy.

The Imperial Confederation was the compromise the Imperials of the Galaxy needed. A necessary bonding of ideologies that otherwise would argue each other into the grave rather than overcome petty ideological rifts and see the Empire restored. With some visions stated and aligning, Imperius offered the Confederation representatives to join Sularen and him in his own antechamber and solar. It was of similar architecture as the rest of the palace, silvery grey metal, blue and white lights, bright, with planters of green and decorations of gold. Aside from the gentle movement of water in a central, shallow well, it was quiet and aside from the two white-gold clad Knights in front of the door, they were alone and could engage undisturbed.

"I want to personally welcome you all to Zakuul and thank you for your coming. I believe we have much discuss and even more to gain."

The room offered seats, highback chairs with armrests arrayed around a round table where some refreshments stood.

The corridors of Zakuul's spire hummed with quiet power. Polished stone and gleaming metal curving into vaulted ceilings, every corner watched by impassive knights in gilded white. Karl moved through them with the air of a man who had studied each shadow and sightline. His military-esque uniform was pristine, marked by the sigils of the Imperial Confederation.

Behind his composed eyes, Karl's thoughts flickered like calculations on a tactical display. The Forum had been revealing. Voices had clashed, egos flared, and doctrines were thrown into question. But now came the real business, the quiet conversations, the subtle alignments that decided the fate of empires.

The private chamber opened before him: a room, lined with high-backed chairs and illuminated with cool, ambient light. A table dominated the center, its polished surface bearing carefully placed refreshments.

"I want to personally welcome you all to Zakuul and thank you for your coming. I believe we have much discuss and even more to gain."

Karl remained standing for a breath longer than protocol demanded, just enough to project presence without posturing. One gloved hand rested on the back of his chair, the other behind his back. When he spoke, it was with careful weight:

"Thank you, Warmaster," he said evenly, his voice calm and firm, the inflection measured. "Zakuul leaves a strong impression, there is clarity in its structure, and that speaks to a discipline we can all respect."

"The Forum showed that our legacies are not without friction, but also that each of us carries a fragment of something greater. There's work ahead, yes, but I believe that work begins with listening. Understanding. And then building forward deliberately, and together."

He drew out the chair and took his seat with deliberate composure, folding his hands lightly atop the table.

"So for now, I'm here to listen. When the time comes to speak, I'll do so plainly."

He gave the faintest nod, then fell silent, offering the floor to the next voice.

OBJECTIVE: Attend Meeting via Holo
LOCATION: Undisclosed

Selrik has chosen not to attend the forum on Zakuul in part because of the necessity of someone remaining in place within the Confederation that had high level authority while the Exarch and the head of the Knights were gone. The Empress was there, of course, but the Empress should not be troubled with the day to day matters of the Empire and should be allowed to focus on the overall planning for the future of the galaxy necessary to achieve the goals of the Empire. He had chosen to stay and undertake the task of keeping things running while the others attended the meeting.

It appeared, however, that his presence was, in the end, necessary to some extent, as expressed by communication between himself and the Exarch. While he could not make an in person appearance, he could appear by holo, and so, shortly after Karl took his seat, the bluish projection of Grand Moff Selrik Lorcas appeared, seated, in one of the other chairs at the table.

His eyes examined the others present in the room. Two of them were familiar to him, Karl and Arthus. A third, Marlon Sularen, was familiar by reputation, but the last, the one that Karl had been speaking to when his holo appeared, was someone that Selrik was unfamiliar with. This must have been the one called Imperius. Not knowing people bothered him more than knowing someone was dangerous and in the room with him did. If you didn't know someone, you didn't know whether they were a threat or an ally, which meant you had to treat them as both, and he hated doing that because it was a fine line to be walked.

"I was asked to attend this meeting as a representative of the Moff council of the Confederation," he said, glancing around the room. "As the Exarch has said, I will listen and then speak when I deem it necessary."

That said, he sat quietly in his seat, fingers gently rolling the rings on his fingers as he waited.

EMPIRE REBORN

ZAKUUL, UNKNOWN REGIONS
Tp9eI99.png
So far the Imperial Forum on Zakuul had yielded little results due to the petty squabbling amongst it's attendees and the lack of proper direction. It was a shame that such a promising conference had devolved in such pointless arguments that had brought all the Imperials in attendance nowhere near a proper Imperial reunification. Nevertheless that wasn't to say that the Forum was a failure as there was still the potential to achieve an Imperial unification although the process would be extensive and time-consuming.

Among the various factions and individuals that had attended the Forum, the Imperial Confederation was one that had caught Sularen's attention. The two individuals representing the Confederation, Karl von Strauss and Arthus Karn, had previously brought up valid points to the conference and spoke with reason where others wasted time in pointless arguments just to prove a point. Thus when Imperius sought Sularen out to seek out the representatives of the Imperial Confederation to negotiate with them on the behalf of the Empire Reborn, the Lord-Executor did not hesitate to seize the opportunity, throwing himself into the current meeting, eager to gain a better understanding of the Confederation and potentially find some compromise with them.

Before long, Sularen found himself seated within the large antechamber as the three representatives of the Imperial Confederation arrived and greeted both Sularen and Imperius before taking their seats. Already both Exarch von Strauss and Moff Lorcas were willing to listen and offer their own thoughts, which only further added to the Lord-Executor's silent enthusiasm for this little meeting. There was much to be accomplished here and already it seemed that everyone present had a mutual understanding in terms of conduct, a good first step towards positive negotiations.

Thus, the Lord-Executor would remain silent and comfortably seated as he patiently waited for the arrival of the final representative of the Imperial Confederation and for Imperius to formally begin the talks, ready to further advance the cause of Imperial reunification.

Imperius lidless eyes glanced towards Sularen for a moment after he sat down as well. The thought of him leading the talks was far more sensible considering certain dispositions and backgrounds present and yet he remained passive. It was not a thought that made the Zakuulan rejoice in the slightest, it would actually make these negotiations harder than they needed to be.

"I do not expect anything less, Exarch. Only directness will pave the way for success for the Imperial cause."

"You are mirroring, in a more autonomous degree, the political parties of the last Empire, in the Confederation, giving the Imperial Sector Authority and the Risen Empire a place at the table in the sense of political parties. Our proposal is as straight forward as it can be - the Empire Reborn becomes the third party at the table."

A very brief pause followed before he continued.

"As remnant of the Dark Empire, we have eliminated the influence of Sith in our hierarchy and removed the taint of the religious zeal that was brought in by the false Emperor Solipsis. Our commitment to the Imperial cause is absolute and while our approaches differ and I believe also minor details in our philosophy, our common goals remain the same. You have commented and complimented approaches outlined in the forum earlier, Exarch." His gaze moves towards the holo-presence of Lorcas. "Essentially a common ground in readiness to wage war for our goals but not neglecting the aspect of internal stability, order and highlighting the benefits it has to be part of such Empire. We concur on the militarisation and total inclusion of any Force Order into the common hierarchy, rather than outside one and that it be under the umbrella and ideals of the Imperial Knights as they were under the previous Fel rulers."

The pureblood paused, his gaze shifting across the present.

"If your side is willing to integrate with ours, we may leave this room as members of the same galactic power that has the potential to claim the succession to old Empires as well as forge a new one, void of any faux from the predecessors and paving the way for a true unification of the Imperial Hegemony."
