Primary Source: None

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
Manufacturer: Ahvulan
Model: Epicanthix Aura "Epic Hats" Head Gear
Affiliation: Closed Market
Modularity: Aesthetics
Production: Semi-Unique
Material: Folhet Treated Cotton and Other Hat Materials

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Classification: Anti-Mind Control
Weight: Varies (Slightly Heavy for Corresponding Gear)
Quality: 1

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Artificial Mental Shields - The company known to bring mass produced alchemy is at it again, with the Epic Hat, a lining that can look like any form of head attire (baseball cap, beanie, fedora, etcetera) made with alchemized Epicanthix blood. It provides a removable shield the same way the species has the inherent ability. Have the hat on? You get a defense against unwanted mental interactions. Get it knocked off? Back to normal.
Strengths:
  • Fashion - These are designed to have style in mind. When an order is placed, they are asked for color, style, shape, every specific one might think of, so it is the peak of stylability.
Weaknesses:
  • Weight - When it comes to hats, these are somewhat heavy. Its not like holding a boulder on ones head, but rather like the olden posture tests where one has to hold a book atop their cranium. Not heavy, but somewhat irritating.
  • Force Artifact - Ysalamir, Ysalam, Void Stone, things and areas that negate the Force, negate the effects of this attire. Not the weight though. You still feel that.
DESCRIPTION
Epicanthix Aura Head Gear, or Epic Hats, are not made for those intending to go to war, or even one expecting a generous workout. Rather they are for those that are extremely protective of their thoughts and opinions, in a time where every Joe, Mary, and Nathaniel, not to mention their moms and uncles, are all Force Users.

Its common belief that Space Wizards avidly fiddle with the masses beliefs, their opinions, even sexual orientation! Well not anymore! Now you can take off that tin foil hat, put on a warm, soft, and cozy Epic Hat and know that no one will be looking into your thoughts, or changing them!

Made from purchased, authentic, Epicanthix blood which is altered via the Ahvulan created Folhet style, or neutral alchemy. It is imbued with the Force during extraction, maintaining the Force ability of the previous host. Next it is soaked into cotton and other fibers, which become the basis of the Epic Hat.

All in all, the hats maintain a Jal Shey type aura of protection. It is not an all around catch, nor entire immunity. Rather it is a powerful defense, made to be masterful works by the Damien Clones employed by Ahvulan. They can help stop reading, influencing, or tampering with the thoughts of its wearer, mostly on par with an average mental shield. It isn't extreme. Yet, should the wearer possess an amount of knowledge in shielding their minds already, it aids this as well, to a higher result.

Ahvulan would like to reinforce that NO Epicanthix were harmed in these processes, and all were healthily imbursed. All Carnifex's rest easy.

I understand the situation with this company and its pending changes however please link the existing company this is referencing. A modification can be made to the submission in the future to reflect the updated company submission.

I apologize however due to a few overlooked items and a report this is being pulled from the approved list. The items that must be addressed are the following:

Force imbued items that grant resistances to the Force cannot be submitted as Mass Produced. The highest production level acceptable is Limited, depending on balance of the submission itself. Given this submission's content I would like this dropped to Semi-Unique unless you provide additional drawbacks or weaknesses to further balance and warrant a limited production.

  • This cannot be a catch-all against mental attacks. Reword this to "Can aide the wearer in the resistance of mental attacks dependent upon their awareness and skill level within the Force."
Fix those two items and I will re-stamp this.

Lmao! Not even roleplayed yet, and already a report? Some petty people on site these days.

Is there any way to make this work? Because it makes no sense to me as is. Selective species can have the ability, making them incredibly over powered, and can't get a report because its a species trait - but Mr Joe-Schmoe-Twilek can't cause he isn't of that species.

Its a piece of fabric with the same tensile durability as a T-shirt, that defends the mind. Not game breaking by any means whatsoever, but is reported and shut down.

Edit:

Not arguing mind you. You're my favorite RPJ and person to work with right now. Just, as said, confused what the issue is and how I can resolve it.

Unfortunately there are a great many things in canon that I disagree with (the vast majority of the EU), but they exist and thus they are as they are. Species created on SWRP go through the codex and face their own basis of scrutiny in terms of balance and fairness. That being said, the factory's stance on approving Force artifacts, specifically ones which grant unfettered resistances are required to be worded in a way that does not give them blanket coverage across the entire spectrum, and they cannot be allowed to be fitted to every NPC in the known galaxy, otherwise we will start the arms race for immunity to everything.

As the submission stands now, the only way I can pass this would be to reduce the production to Semi-Unique, and to change the wording surrounding its capabilities to something along the lines of what I mentioned previously: "Aides the wearer in resisting mental attacks to a degree, dependent upon their awareness and/or skill level within the Force."

I get that there are a multitude of species that already resist mental attacks, but unfortunately it isn't something that applies to the factory because if it did, it would uplift our ability to regulate and balance items.

Hmm... Ok, could it be met half way?

Something along the lines of the Jal Shey type, that it greatly defends against mental intrusion or something? It would, in doing so, achieve as close as can be achieved and approved, while still almost what I wanted in the long run.

Basically can I keep it mass but specifically noted as only PCs and then do as you wanted on the ambiguity.

The mass is for the company tier portion.

Unfortunately I can't leave this at Mass Produced because it is a Force Artifact. It's just not possible because it violates the procedures of the factory. The absolute highest I could allow for an artifact is Limited, but the submission would have to have more content, more details, a greater balance of weaknesses, and given that these are designed in their nature to be simplistic devices for resisting mental influence, I can't see a great many ways of expanding the submission to reach limited quantity, though I'm open to the idea of that.

I understand that this is intended to be used for your company upgrade, however I can only work within the framework of the factory's current standards.

Ok for future references, as you mentioned two separate things, is it all alch/imbued items are not able to be done mass anymore? Or was it what you initially said up top, that its just those providing Force immunities of whatever type?

I will get edits done now.

How is it now?

Also, for future subs, could a decent thread have helped? I remember my first mass produced alch had several thousand words solo thread that kind of gave it that hmph when Jon and I were talking it over. I don't mind doing those types of things.

In the end I guess I see why this whole idea all around would be an issue as you explained. It would be an army of beings with minds untouchable by the Force. Kind of OP. But most my ideas aren't this caliber.

This looks good now, thank you!

Also as for your question, we don't generally allow anything that could be considered a Force artifact to be mass produced. Basically anything that grants specific Force abilities or resistances have a cap of limited. Since we don't have development threads for anything other than restricted materials, the option to perform one for added benefits within the submission itself is no longer a solution. That was one of the trade offs for removing dev threads, everything then had to become balanced in the submission.

The only real exception to this would be something that is canon-icly mass produced.
