SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Covert Presence: The shield geometry isn't apparent on the visible-light spectrum unless disturbed. However, its' lattice geometry is visible at rest on the ultraviolet and infrared spectrums.
STRENGTHS
  • High-velocity projectiles: The shield is designed to prevent penetration by fast-moving ballistic or directed-energy projectiles accelerating towards the shielded object or personnel equal to or greater than 28 metres per second or 101 kilometres per hour.
  • Ionizing radiation: The field of highly charged particles that constitute an energy shield prevents harmful ionizing alpha particles, beta radiation, gamma radiation, positrons and x-rays from reaching the target.
  • Malleable: Shield geometry can be manipulated using electromagnets placed throughout personal armour or a starship's hull, permitting the total surface area to be covered by the field, albeit with varying density according to distance from the generator.
  • Recharging: These energy shields recharge; they will maintain a field geometry density that is directly proportional to the power source of the generator; the more robust the power source, the more resilient the resultant shield and the faster it'll recharge after a collapse. Shield strength is inversely proportional to the surface area; the more the shield's geometry gets from the generator, the thinner it gets.
WEAKNESSES
  • Asymmetric strength: The shield's geometry and strength are inversely proportional to the distance from the generator or generators; projectiles can slip or brute through a part of the field where the flow of charged particles is low-density without collapsing the rest of the shield.
  • Dense mediums: When the field comes into contact with a viscous liquid medium like water, the field's constituent flow geometry is disrupted until the field's generator is removed from the environment.
  • Electromagnetic fields/weapons: Electromagnetic pulses generated by weapon systems are an effective means of countering the shield technology; they completely disrupt the flow of the shield's geometry by confusing the generator polarity and compromising its' integrity with rapid efficiency. For example, the strong electromagnetic field of lightsabres causes their blade to collapse the geometric field by repelling its constituent particles away from the edge.
  • Low-velocity: Low-velocity projectiles or other solid objects can penetrate through the shield technology without being interdicted; generally, the velocity at which the shield will begin interdiction projectiles is about 27 metres per second or 100 kilometres per hour. This has implications for infantry combat, where melee or hand-to-hand fighting is an efficient means of bypassing this defence technology.
  • Power draw: Personal energy shields draw significant power from hardware, dramatically accelerating mean-time before failure. Additionally, they generate a powerful infrared and ultraviolet signature making them highly visible in visioning systems where the user would otherwise be camouflaged. It is, therefore, prudent for a user to keep the shield generator offline unless combat is imminent, occurring or likely. This allows for successful sneak attacks on soldiers equipped with the technology where they would consider themselves safe.
  • Wavelength shift: The strength of a given energy shield can be determined by its colour on the visible-light spectrum when struck; shields close to full power create a blue-coloured lattice when struck; its' constituent molecules are knocked from the geometric field and steadily shift from blue to red as the protection weakens and approaches collapse. This can telegraph to an opponent how close the field is to collapse.
DESCRIPTION
Norr energy shields are an advanced defensive technology designed and manufactured by Ryk's State Defence Industries. The energy shields' behaviour and function are simple in theory: A generator creates a field of highly-charged particles controlled and shaped by electromagnets, which can be positioned throughout a personal armour system or warship hull to achieve the desired geometry. The shield's field deflects or absorbs various threats, including ballistic and directed energy projectiles; the shield geometry is sufficiently dense to prevent harmful electromagnetic spectrum wavelengths from penetrating its' field.

High-velocity projectiles: Energy shields will interdict, disrupt or destroy the motion of fast-moving ballistic or directed-energy projectiles accelerating towards the shielded object or personnel equal or greater to 28 metres per second or 101 kilometres per hour.

This will need to either be removed or reworded, calling hits as the defender is something you can do but making it so you can be effectively invulnerable to anything below an arbitrary threshold most won't know to match would be unsporting in a cooperative setting.

Hey mate. I do not understand your sentence or statement; apologies. It isn't invulnerable below the specified threshold. The opposite is true. It is vulnerable to projectiles with a velocity of less than 28 metres per second or 101 kilometres per hour.

According to this page: "In episode 236 of Mythbusters, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman set out to test whether a person could dodge a blaster bolt fired by a stormtrooper. Adam was able to determine, based on examining footage from the Star Wars films, that the average speed of a blaster bolt was 130–135 mph (209–217 km/h)."

Interdict, disrupt, or destroy are not indicative of being vulnerable. The factory does not deal in absolutes and mythbusters much like generation tech while able to be helpful are not a metric used since weapon speeds, damage and more factors. Dictating damage or dictating damage mitigation beyond resistance should be open and worded as such.

The original request stands, it will need to be reworded.

Ahhhhhh I see what you're driving at, all good. I've reworded it in a manner I think will be more acceptable.

Now it just reads as the opposite instead of below it is above. I'll repeat again, language on subs shouldn't be absolute. There is no threshold for an attack. So please just remove this from the sub, constantly asking for it to be reworded to remove the threshold and you not attempting to even try makes most of the recommendations I got to just deny and save the hassle.
