APPEARANCE:
Ek has white hair that is close cropped on the sides and longer on the top and swept to the side. He also has a Bionic right eye through which all the standard Obsidian Armor helmet visual features feed. Ek has a minimalist modified version of the (now old) Techno Union's Obsidian Armor with some aesthetic allusion to his Sith training.


He wears an Obsidian Armor grade mask that covers the lower half of his face as well as the back and sides of his head, leaving his eyes, forehead and the top of his head exposed. the front of the mask has a grill similar to the old imperial scout trooper helmets. This mask/helm is steely grey. He often wears a stripe of purple war paint across his eyes

Ek wears a black "quilted" (like the one vader wore under his armor) armorweave body glove with armorplast plates inserted within the suit in vital areas that are not visible. He also wears black armorplast gauntlets and greaves, with black boots. Ek sports a set of durasteel knee pads and shoulder guards as well as a Phrik upper chest/full back mantle (very similar to Galen Marek's original armor) Over top of this he wears a Black sleeveless hooded robe with White trim that is mid calf length. He cinches this robe at the waist with a wide leather belt that has several pouches, over which he wears his standard CZ-830 Utility Belt. Ek always carries two lightsabers on his belt, a curved hilt regular saber and a straight hilted modified Obsidian Lightsaber. Strapped to his thigh is what appears to be an oversized pistol. Strapped to his back is a rifle. He wears a grey cloak in the cold or rain.

ORIGIN

Ek Vilibro Griz was born on the planet Tython, which came under the control of the Sith. When he was found to be force sensitive by the Sith, he was taken from his family, and though they resisted his parents were killed, and he was taken anyway. He does not know what became of his two brothers.

Because he was taken later in life than some, and his parents were truly benevolent people, the ways of the Sith did not come naturally to Ek Griz, with the exception of his new found understanding of pain, hatred, and suffering caused by the loss of his parents. This established Ek's connection to the dark side of the force. His powers grew and he was trained in the arts of lightsaber combat, Form II in particular, at which he excelled.

In spite of his intense hatred of the Sith, he understood that this obsessive and relentless hatred would lead him down a path of endless suffering, which is of course what the Sith wanted for him, to become what he hated most. Fortunately, Ek was able to hold on to his calmer and more reasoned upbringing enough to realize that while the power of hatred and of the dark side certainly had it's uses, he felt that the Sith were weak and foolish to be consumed by it. He also came to the conclusion that by taking what he learned of the dark side without complete surrender to it, to resist and control it would be his ultimate revenge.

Once he became an Acolyte and was apprenticed to a Sith Knight, Darth Nemo, he was taken on his first mission to a system outside Sith control. On this mission, He and his master were engaged in a battle with Republic forces, what was supposed to be a fairly routine mission ended up being slightly more difficult. Ek saw this as a perfect opportunity. While his master was engaging a squadron of republic fighters, Ek threw a thermal detonator at his master. Knowing that, while it may not have killed his master, it would sandwich him between a deadly explosion and his enemies, granting Ek Griz the time window he needed to get back to their ship in time to escape.

Ek Griz took his masters ship to Neutral Hutt territory and sold the ship to avoid being tracked by the Sith. He then used the profit, which was in the far less traceable currency of wupiwupi to barter passage on a smuggling ship to Techno Union Space, further from Sith territory. Once in Techno Union space he used the last of the credits earned from selling his former master's ship to gain Techno Union citizenship, he then joined the Neutral Force User group the Obsidian Order as He shared their view that the Force was just a tool available to him, Light and Dark mattered little, And while the Sith always seemed to embrace technology more than the stoic an lofty Jedi, the Obsidian Order truly embraced it.

THE OBSIDIAN ORDER AND FALL OF THE TECHNO UNION

Ek Griz then trained under new masters, Draco Vereen and Sor-Jan, ones from the Order to help him complete his training. After brief training and some field work Ek became a full fledged Obsidian Knight, a Savant. He hoped to continue training and to grow in his power and to increase the power unity and influence of the Obsidian Order.

However, following a mission he was injured and put into stasis. Shortly after, the Techno Union fell and in the chaotic transition, the facility where Ek was being held was abandoned. It wasn't until roughly a decade later that the area came under the control of the new Confederacy that Ek was discovered and brought out of stasis. In the decade since his stasis the Galaxy has changed much. Empires rose and fell his Order had died off and been reborn as the Knights Obsidian. He still had much to learn before his long sleep. Now he had much more.

THE CONFEDERATE KNIGHTS OBSIDIAN: a New Beginning

Ek seeks to find his place in this new galaxy he has awoken to and to learn more about his new home.

PERSONALITY:

Ek is easy going and intelligent. He is a good soldier and has a good mind for battle strategy. Ek is not particularly ambitious; he of course wants to better himself and improve his skills, but his time with Darth Nemo taught him that blind ambition may lead to power but just as surely to misery. He dislikes the Sith due to his personal experience but has no predjudice towards use of the darkside itself. He dispises and pities the Sith ideology and culture of misery in exchange for power. Ek views the Jedi as to dogmatic and restrictive, viewing things in such extremes just doesn't sit well with Ek Griz.

Ek accepts the fact that he will likely never be as strong in the force as those extremists who dedicate themselves to a single aspect or swing between those extremes. But Ek is strong in other ways. While most Jedi eschew the use of technology in favor of dedicated study of the force and many Sith are only slightly better but still neglect it due to their pride. The Obsidian Order had no such scruples, and Ek embraced it. Through the Force his aim was perfect, through the Force he could conceal himself. He could time detonations perfectly, know when to strike or retreat, which Ek is never too proud to do. Ek uses his force abilities to augment his use of martial technology and uses technology to fill gaps in his knowledge of the force. This makes him easily underestimated by proud powerful Force users and makes him an extremely effective guerilla fighter and assassin against force users and non force users alike.

Ek is easy to get along with having an open mind about most things, He functions well alone for stealth missions or in a team as support in more combat oriented situations.

Description:
General

The Obsidian Armour is a hi-tech, modular suit of armour designed to enable Knights of the Obsidian Order to customise their loadout with a range of modules supplied by the Techno Union. Often the Obsidian Knights will customise and tinker with their armour, and suits will often have very different appearances. All have a few aspects in common: a number of sensors across the front of the helmet, black armour plates over an armorweave underlay, various bits of technology, and data and power ports across the suit.

The basis for the design is an armorweave underlay as in previous designs:

Armorplast is used for plates on most areas, but durasteel is used for the chest and back.

The armour, whilst shielded to some extent, is vulnerable to direct EM attacks, such as Ion weaponry. As all components are integrated, loss of the main power supply, or damage to the data and information transport fabric can render all systems inoperable.


The armour is also complex and requires regular maintenance. A long time in the field can lave systems damaged or inoperable. The batteries included can only power a full suite of systems for forty-eight hours without recharge. Leaving just the standard systems running extends this to ninety six.

All Knights are expected to customise and adapt their armour. Significant changes to the base (such as using phrik etc) will require an additional submission for a unique item. New components will all require a new submission, linked to this submission. Any use of the armour can use the loadout of modular components below. Limitations on quantities and usage of subcomponents (from their submission) all still apply!

The armour suit has data and power running through it, and has a standard fit for adding new components. Those components available or optional are shown below, but Knights may submit new components separately and list where they fit.

The maser blasts may be blocked by lightsabers (provided the spread misses center mass) or other weapons/shields capable of doing so, but the sonic projection will cause knockback/knockdown in all but the sturdiest and heaviest targets.

Description: This weapon is the updated and specialized version of the sawed-off shotgun. This weapon was specifically designed for use in ship hallways, trenches, ect. and for use as a one time surprise against a more skilled close combat opponent. In appearance this weapon looks like an over-sized pistol with a circular 10cm wide emitter.

Special Features: Weapon fires 5.5mm long 13mm in diameter tungsten rods at 2,000m/s. The Tungsten rods could be blocked by lightsabers (in theory). However the kinetic energy and speed of the projectile would probably disarm or even break the hand/wrist of the Jedi/Sith/Other using it. Larger lightsaber-esque stationary plasma shields would probably be more effective, but the kinetic force may still cause some damage in all but the sturdiest and heaviest targets.

Description: This weapon is the Barret M82 on steroids. This weapon was specifically designed for use against opponents skilled in deflecting blaster bolts. Due to its weight and recoil can only be fired in a prone position without the wielder being very large or using some force augmentation.
