SPECIAL FEATURES
 • Eyebeam - The key feature of the EF-G Eye Laser Turret is its "eye", the blue circle located at the center of the turret. It is a hub where five tiny tubes in the interior of the cannon send beams of light to. The light is provided from focused energy at the auto-recharging power cell at the center of the turret. When the beams of light meet in the circle, a small bit of plasma provided by the power cell is superheated and begins to change form, trying to leave its container. As it happens, the "eye" opens up a tiny bit, allowing a concentrated part-solid, part-gas beam to fire outward in whatever direction the turret faces.
Strengths:
 • Infantrybane - The laser of the EF-G turret inflicts massive splash damage near the impact point of the blast, making it effective against infantry and armor alike.
 • Zap! - Designed to function as a heavy laser cannon, the EF-G's concentrated laser bolts can easily melt through most armored vehicles and fortifications.
 • Bulletproof - Due to the agrinium and durasteel plating completely covering the laser cannon, the EF-G is practically immune to handheld weapons. Better yet, the curves and bumps of the base of the cannon make it very likely for heavier solid projectiles such as HE rounds from tanks to ricochet off its plating.
Weaknesses:
 • Right Back At You - Perhaps the greatest weakness of the EF-G laser turret is that its beam is so close to being a solid that it can be reflected back at the turret. If a beam from the EF-G is perfectly parried with a strong enough material such as beskar or an alloy of multiple resilient metals, the beam can be sent flying back for a guaranteed instant destruction of the turret. This was learned the hard way when a wandering swordsman decided to ruin Outer Rim's day.
 • My Eyes! - The "eye" of the EF-G turret, the blue circle where the laser is fired from, is extremely vulnerable to fire. Even a single sniper bolt to the eye can cause the firing cycle of the laser to reset, even if it was a millisecond from firing. Additionally, launching any form of explosive into the eye will not only reset the firing cycle, but also inflict enough damage to temporarily paralyze the turret, with the second or third hit usually destroying it.
 • Friendly Fire - Due to the splash radius of the EF-G's laser beam, it is not ideal for picking off enemies if they are locked in a melee with allies or near mission-important objects. The splash damage also nullifies the turret's effectiveness at close range, as any laser bolt impacting within five meters of the turret is likely to damage or even destroy the laser cannon.
 • Why Look Up - The eye of the EF-G laser cannon is rigid in its positioning, and unlike a barrel of a tank's gun, has very limited vertical accuracy. The turret can only tilt about 20 degrees upward, and 45 degrees downward.
 • Hacked - When automatically run, the EF-G cannon's large size and lack of cyberdefenses makes it very vulnerable to hackers and EWAR systems. Once hijacked, a cannon can easily be turned on its users, and can cause chaos throughout the battlefield.
DESCRIPTION
One day, as Outer Rim was making the foundations of a new mining facility, they discovered ancient relics that were largely intact, only five feet underground. Upon realizing that they were weapons, the relics were immediately shipped offworld and brought to Mon Calamari for experimentation.

A dissection of the weapon revealed an incredibly durable frame, determined to be almost a thousand years old and yet still highly resistant to damage. The weapon's effectiveness relied on a unique mechanism involving the focusing of light and plasma to make a powerful, concentrated laser bolt. Intricate layouts of armor plating added to a very high chance of enemy fire ricocheting off.

Upon realizing the potential of the weapon, the ORME weapons engineering team scanned the weapon and copied its blueprints. They added slight updates to the weapon to keep up with modern countermeasures, while still maintaining most of the ancient components. But the most important of all the parts of the cannon was a power cell capable of cooling itself and recharging on its own. It eliminated reload entirely, with only a cooldown limiting the cannon's rate of fire.

After the replicas were produced, they went through combat testing. It was revealed that their bolts could be deflected, but Outer Rim was unfazed, knowing that only the strongest of metals could do so. After the fifth prototype, an automatic and manual crew function was added to the cannon and it entered open production.

Crew: 1 gunner or automated systems
