PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

A man of slightly larger than average stature, especially for his age, Edwards has a face somewhat inconsistent for how old he is. The lack of wrinkles and age-related skin damage on his face and body as a whole contrasts heavily with his deep silver hair. His typical suit is ornate but not distracting, with dark orange lining accenting the black base. On his left wrist is a slightly curved smart-screen he can often be seen tapping at when idle.

INVENTORY

  • A data-wristpad
  • An Antiquated Pocket Watch
  • A Set of Dog Tags

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Edwards is a cool-headed person, only having been able to achieve his position due to his patience and ability to observe the things around him before acting. He is an idealist and a planner, and therefore can take a long time to reach the goals he has set for himself. Despite this, he has been known to hold grudges, especially against those he perceives to have wronged the people he represents.

STRENGTHS

  • Observant: Edwards observes things around him many overlook, keeping details in the back of his mind for if and when they become of use.
  • Economic: Edwards has always found himself to be relatively decent with money and wealth, at least compared to most.
  • Tactician: Due to his military background, Edwards excels at military tactics and strategy, especially with regards to firepower.
  • Logistician: When it comes to feeding people, managing large bureaucracies, or simple transportation of people and resources, Edwards has always been towards the front of the crowd in competence.

WEAKNESSES

  • Paranoid: While not severe, Edwards does still often feel like there are people trying to prevent him from achieving his goals, even if no such person exists.
  • Memory of an Elephant: Edwards doesn't let things go very easily, and if you have slighted him or those he cares for, he makes it an effort to slight them back.
  • Stoic: While he does experience emotions like anyone else, one would be hard-pressed to find moments where he openly goes into their detail. This makes Edwards frequently seem detached to others.
  • Poor Marksmanship: In spite of his military service, Edwards never quite excelled at precision shooting, normally opting for the 'volume of fire' route.

Background

Edwards was born on a relatively small moon in the far northern sectors. His people remained uncontacted for the longest time, and had developed independently of the action of the rest of the galaxy for many thousand years. Not much is known about the origins of the people living on this moon, but their legends states they were brought there as slaves. One day, their overlords mysteriously vanished and required them to fend for themselves. On this moon was a base built by their former masters, and it was law for many thousands years not to interact with this artifact out of fear it would signal the slavers to return. Edwards was a part of an extremely powerful company called Millennium, which got its start in cryogenics research, but eventually began to integrate many other industries and develop its own military wing. Placed in command of an Artillery Regiment, Edwards was involved in the moon-wide civil war amongst his people that erupted over this relic base. The central government wished to keep the base off limits and prevent anyone from tampering with it, while Millennium wished to use it for research. This war lasted nearly 25 years, and by its end, several million were dead. In the final conflict, known to the locals as the 'Siege of the Relic Base', Edwards ended up in command of the force after Millennium's general was killed by a sniper. He successfully utilized overwhelming firepower with artillery while maintaining a healthy logistics train to assault the base of the course of 187 days, eventually being successful, and ending the moon's civil war.

Edwards was hailed as a military hero to his people, but he had no true interest in staying a military man. In the years following the war's conclusion, he began to maneuver himself politically in the company. After several years of the careful game of politics, the CEO of Millennium passed away, leading the board to elect a new one. Edwards was the prime candidate, and he had was not only a hero from the war, but had also proven to be an extremely capable manager of company assets and their research projects. After a long series of failed votes between him and two other candidates, Edwards was elected as Millennium's 14th CEO and the company quickly consolidated control over the whole moon under his leadership, becoming the de facto government of it with their military wing.

As time went on, Edwards directed the company to continue its research of the relic base, discovering many breakthroughs in the process. This caused Millennium to be able to build its own ships with a rudimentary shipyard. The vessels had no hyperspace capabilities, but they could get them planetside. The planet they orbited was long since thought to belong to those who had enslaved their ancestors so long ago, and it was thus a priority to get revenge. After a nearly 4 year buildup, the arrival on this planet and its outcomes, could not have been easily predicted. It was littered with confusion, anger, and a hefty coincidence.
