Story:
An old friend of Karrik/Vykter named Eight-Eyed Edna calls and says she has herself some shiny stolen military tech. Calls it the "Hide and Seek" system. She needs to get rid of it fast, the authorities are practically on her door step. Vykter asks if he can bring friends along to cover his end, she agrees, and gives him coordinates in the Ison Corridor.
After gathering what friends he can, Vykter sets off for the meeting place. Upon arrival he is greeted by nothing. There's no sign of Edna or her salvage ship. After waiting a few hours, the communications panel dings with a laser transmission from Edna, who says she is only 15 light seconds away, close enough to practically be on top of him and yet she isn't on sensors. This is the point at which she switches off the system and appears, right where she said she would be.
After haggling over a price and where to set down to actually do the deal, a CSA patrol ship drops from hyperspace and launches fighters. This is where the Fire Confusion is demonstrated, and after destroying the fighters they are able to escape into hyperspace towards a nearby desert world for the exchange.
Once on the planet, Edna attempts to double cross Vykter and his friends in order to steal the Horizon with the newly installed ECM so as to evade a CSA ship that appears in orbit broadcasting the warrant for her arrest. After she is defeated, they set the scene up to look like her starship's reactor had overloaded from battle damage and exploded. After waiting for the CSA patrol ship to orbit the other side of the planet, they engage the ship in Deception mode and make the escape masquerading as a Republic Battlecruiser.
