Intent: To build upon the previous Copycat: Kaleido model and add mutual IFF configuration.
Development Thread: [None]
Manufacturer: ECHO Esprit
Model: ECHO Copycat Mk 3: Sprite
Affiliation: The Rebel Alliance; The Republic
Modularity: No
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Ferrocarbon housing; Crodium interior; Halurium backup independent power source
Description: The third installment of the Copycat line, Sprite continues with the initial false-friendly IFF ‘stealth’ configuration but makes squadron synergy possible without risking friendly fire in battle.

The physical device is rectangular, measuring at 10.5cm x 6cm X 1cm. A halurium-grain power source enables the Sprite hardware to continue functioning for a period even after power to non-essential systems has been cut, potentially saving pilots' lives in desperate situations. The interior mechanisms do protect from power surges but, unfortunately, the housing does not shield from EMP.

Being an expansion of the Kaleido model, Sprite features the same IFF bounce, copy, and save functions, as well as the comms channel decryptor.

What Sprite brings new to the table is the ability for starcraft utilizing this new Copycat model to mutually pair with other ships with a Sprite (or later model) package installed. A pilot may send a ping to a specified craft within range communicating to the other Copycat device. The receiving pilot may select to accept the ping, thereby coupling both Sprites and mutually marking each other as friendly, enabling true IFF identification between the collaborating parties and preventing possible friendly fire incidents. Linking may be activated among multiple ships featuring Sprite to create a chain of correctly tagged IFF craft, giving full squadrons the ability to confuse enemies while maintaining coordinated combat. The couple will, however, drop once the paired ships are out of range, meaning later encounters would require the process to be redone.

Copycat: Sprite is simply hooked up to the main sensory, transmission, and HUD systems of a small craft and does its work.

So to clarify, the difference between this and the previous one was that this one allows for a manual addition of friendlies?
