The Admiralty
Intent: To reintroduce a method of tracking for people who do not have access to the Force and more specifically blood trailing.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Neuro-Saav Corporation
Model: DUST
Affiliation: Open Market
Modularity: No
Production: Mass
Material: Microscopic dust-like transmitters
Description:
DUSThttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dust was developed by an obscure R&D department of the Republic Army during the Clone Wars as an easy and cheap way to track people or objects of interest. Originally only made in the form of simple dust that could stick to virtually any surface it eventually disappeared from the Galaxy with the Gulag Plague sweeping through Civilization.
Until today.
Trying to find an alternative to blood trail by using technology Ovmar tasked his own R&D departement with the development of a viable tracking solution. After a set amount of time his scientists, using the same obscure information left by the original DUST makers, managed to create just that.
After some testing they settled the product into the following forms, the first and foremost: simple dust, in pill form, pellets for slugthrowers and even grenades.
Building from the foundation of the DUST of old Neuro-Saav has improved the power supply, incorporated the reverse-engineered electrostatic generators and long-distance transmitters.
The later for improved surface clinging, the former two enabling it to be used farther and longer.
The current range of the DUST is one solar system. If a target enters hyperspace a second tracker is used to determine the realspace reentry location so tracking can be resumed.
An EM filter can detect the substance showing it in a pinkish brown hue.
