the sound and the fury

- Intent: To submit a record of Duro's current state which adapts the core EU themes to modern Chaos canon.

- Accessibility: Duro straddles several major hyperlanes sharing close borders with the Corellia Sector. It is guarded by the Duro Defense Force but like most Core Worlds it is a freeport. Civilian traffic is heavy and only those with criminal records are turned away...if they're even noticed. Once transit to the system has been arranged there are thousands of local shuttle services which provide transport between cities and other space platforms.
- Description: One of the galaxy's great wonders, the Duro Arcology is a sprawling network of city stations and other orbital infrastructure which houses much of the system's population. Several massive orbital rings comprised of shipyards and factories are often used as reference points by the many residents of each space city, floating village, commercial outpost, and noble's estate. Bburru Station is the largest single structure, followed closely by Jyvus Space City and the Gateway Skyhook.

BBURRU STATION
Capital of Duro
Largest city in orbit of Duro and the current political capital. Overseen by the Bburru Docking Authority. Busiest spaceport is Port Duggan. Headquarters of CorDuro Shipping, one of the planet's most powerful megacorps. Bburru is an economic powerhouse not just within the system but throughout the entire Core.

HIGH ANCHOR
City Ships and Space Stations
There are nineteen other prominent city ships over Duro such as Jivv Space City, Jyvus Space City, and even little Urrdorf City. Anything smaller is considered station infrastructure although not all of these are commercial. Smaller colony stations of individual communities and even private estates for wealthy families also litter the space between each metropolis.

STARSHIPWRIGHT SHIPYARDS
Orbital Docks and Manufacturing
Source of Duro's continued economic influence over the Core Worlds. While surface infrastructure is still limited the duros have been building out their manufacturing centers and commercial stations in orbit for over a thousand years. Pri-Andylan Shipyards are here as well as Duro Delta Twelve and others.

LOWER SPRAWL
Duro Underworld
Not every city is fortunate enough to exist so far removed from Duro's atmosphere. Less wealthy stations like Rrudobar and Orr-Om must settle for shallow orbits. Floating above it all is New Tayana, crime capital of the system. Corruption is rampant here with less funding for local security force presence.

GATEWAY
Duro Restoration Project
Gateway was the first city to be established planetside since the Clone Wars. Constructed over Tayana Crater for its more viable conditions, the complex has since expanded to connect with the Duro Arcology via skyhook. Nexus of all Vongforming engines restored to operation. DuroDelve Industries has relocated their headquarters here. It is a rapidly growing major population center which ships significant amounts of personnel and material up and down the gravity well every day.

NEW RANADAAST
Duro Restoration Project
Most recent new Duro city. While the Ranadaast region is still not completely viable for habitation a small colony has been established using sealed off structures with artificial life support. Enough toxins persist in the atmosphere that it is still rated type II. Most species require a breath mask to survive. There is a strong frontier spirit here for those bold enough to rebuild their people's history. Ranadaast was once considered the planet's cultural epicenter and the colonists seek to make it so again one day.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
In ancient times Duro was a lush jungle world plagued by unrestrained industrial revolution until the Clone Wars when a military bombardment of the planet accelerated the atmosphere's pollution and rendered its surface completely uninhabitable. This great catastrophe caused a mass migration to where much of the native diaspora still resides in orbit. In the century that followed Vongforming technology was deployed on the surface reverting Duro to its pre-vibrant state. Then came the Gulag Plague and the knowledge required to maintain the Vong engines was lost. Toxic wastes once more began to reclaim the planet.
Once hyperspace commerce was reestablished the High House commissioned many of the galaxy's finest minds to reverse engineer enough knowledge of Vong tech to restore what was broken. Now the Duro Restoration Project seeks to revitalize their homeworld. Yet many duros have lived for so long in the Arcology that they see space as their true home. Centuries of expansion has transformed the planet's orbit into an artificial labyrinth. Political power still firmly resides on Bburru Station. Despite this trend of cultural reluctance Gateway is on track to outgrow the capital within another generation.
