PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Manufacturer: Visanj T’shkali
Affiliation: Closed-Market
Model: Duppy Stealth Package
Modularity: None
Production: Semi-Unique
Material(s):
Component(s):
SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Thoroughly cloaks a vessel, making it extremely difficult – though not entirely impossible – to detect by blocking, confusing, and deceiving sensors and scanners and masking the craft’s heat, magnetic, emissions, and noise signatures.
  • ECM included can make targeting and tracking difficult, even providing some defense against incoming missiles’ guidance systems.
STRENGTHS:
  • Can reduce a ship’s signature and in some cases to such a degree that it is practically invisible to most civilian and low-grade military or law enforcement scans.
  • Conceals a ship’s emissions, noise, and silhouette.
  • Is able to confound, even jam, enemy sensors and comms at short-range, allowing time for a hasty retreat.
  • Included ECM is able to help counter enemy targeting and tracking, even deactivating incoming guided missiles, making ships using the Duppy much harder to hit.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Can only be fitted aboard ships up to and not exceeding 150m in dimensions.
  • Cannot be retroactively placed aboard a vessel as an after-market upgrade. Only vessels where the Duppy is included into the design can support it.
  • The massive military-grade sensors, found aboard ships of Star Destroyer size and greater oftentimes have finely-tuned, highly-advanced sensor systems. No system is impenetrable or foolproof, and against such powerful scanners as those, the Duppy can be compromised if one is looking hard enough.
  • The Duppy’s countermeasures aren’t foolproof either, and while they can make detection, targeting, and tracking very difficult, the package offers no defenses beyond it. If something gets through, the Duppy can’t mitigate the damage caused, only (hopefully) prevent the ‘punch’ from landing in the first place.
DESCRIPTION:

A potent stealth suite for smaller-sized starships, the Duppy seeks to help those ships virtually ‘disappear’, lowering their heat and energy signatures, confounding emissions tracing, dampening noise, and even jamming enemy sensors. Designed for smugglers or special operations capable starfighters, the Duppy is excellent for evading civilian police patrol ships, enemy pickets, bounty hunters, and enemy fighters. It lacks the power and polish to truly evade the kinds of high-powered, super-sensitive systems found on very large military-grade vessels, and if crews there are looking hard enough, they can usually find ships using the Duppy.

Able to deactivate and evade incoming guided missiles or confound enemy targeting and tracking systems, the Duppy offers no serious defensive abilities beyond that. If something makes contact, there’s nothing the Duppy package can do, and it is therefore recommended that ships not rely merely on ‘lying low’ to stay in the air, but rather that the Duppy is paired with armor and shield systems capable of mitigating incoming damage.

Yet, the Duppy has the ability to make a starfighter appear like a mere small, warm gas cloud or even less, and aboard a larger light corvette, it can conceal that ship, allowing it and its precious crew and cargo to slip past unnoticed in most cases. If needed, it can help to deactivate or disable enemy sensors and hyperwave comms, giving it the time needed to make an escape.

The Duppy is meant to be included into a ship’s original design and construction, and cannot be added as an after-market upgrade. Neither can it be used aboard ships greater than 150m in dimensions. It makes small ships disappear, but only small ships, and only those small ships for which it was meant from the start.
