PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

In the public gaze, Sylas Corak appears the very picture of noble dignity. As an aristocrat of Corellia, he often wears showy attire, along with a constant, charming smile. Sylas has brown hair and eyes, a parting gift from his late mother. When he assumes his true identity, that of a Dark Jedi, Sylas swaps the fancy, colorful clothing with simple dark robes, helping him go unnoticed. Additionally, he bears a lightsaber, which contains a blooded Kyber Crystal. As a Dark Jedi, his smile drops, often replaced with a far more sinister look.

INVENTORY

  • Lightsaber
  • Nau'ur Class Yacht (Crewed with Chefs and Bodyguards)
  • Star Courier (Docked onboard Yacht)

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Cold, composed, and calculating, Sylas Corak is a man who focuses primarily on keeping up appearances. As a noble, he appears to be gracious, kind and charming, even towards those of lower station than him. He's never opposed to banter, discussion of philosophy, or political discourse. Despite his relatively young age, he has taken to his position as head of his family admirably. However, there is another side to Sylas. A cunning schemer, he seeks to spread his influence across the galaxy, in search of artifacts of the Force, be they light or dark. He often deceives and manipulates those around him for the sake of this goal.

Despite his predisposition towards the dark side, Sylas is not beyond reason. He purely seeks power, and has no qualms allying himself with Jedi and the like if it achieves his goals. In a way, he is akin to a Grey Jedi, in that he is not strictly committed to the dark or light. However, he bears an extreme bloodlust, savoring the rush of adrenaline that comes with battle. This side of him lies dormant most of the time, but when he is challenged to a duel or faced with danger, it emerges, and he loses himself in the love of combat.

If there is a redeeming trait for Sylas Corak, it is that he cares for his comrades. However, even this seemingly selfless trait is warped, as he merely views those he works with as extensions of himself, and thus losing them feels like losing a part of himself.

STRENGTHS

  • Sylas possesses supreme technique with a lightsaber, owing to his pure dedication to the craft. He has mastered forms II, III, and VI of lightsaber combat, effectively combining them into a style that seeks to exploit the opponent's inferior skill, rather than their physical abilities.
  • Sylas has quite a cunning mind, being able to quickly come up with a scheme to exploit any situation. He also has sufficient charisma to persuade people to do as he asks more times than not.
  • Sylas was born naturally gifted with the force, and he has honed his skills over time. In particular, his abilities with telekinesis are prodigious, able to match all but the pinnacle of force users in this aspect.

WEAKNESSES

  • Despite his talent with a lightsaber, Sylas is not particularly physically strong, nor is he exceedingly quick. If forced into a physical battle against another force user, he may struggle.
  • Although he possesses great natural intelligence, Sylas loses this advantage when bloodlusted. While he still has a natural feel for combat, this can lead to him drawing out a fight or toying with his opponents, leaving him open to being surprised.
  • Sylas is always struggling to keep his cover as a noble while furthering his goals as a Dark Jedi. If someone were to discover his dual identity, they would gain significant leverage over him.

HISTORY

From the moment Sylas Corak was born, his life could not have been called normal by any stretch of the imagination. His mother passed from the world as she held him in her arms, and Sylas would never know her face. His noble father, having lost his only light in the world, would then dedicate everything to the last memory of his wife. He would teach Sylas all he knew of politics, piloting, and the galaxy from an early age. Though he did not wish to, he then remarried for political gain. A beautiful woman from the faraway planet of Coruscant, Sylas' new stepmother was named Talia.

Despite stepmotherly stereotypes, Talia was quite kind to her new stepson. She taught him more about the state of the Galactic Alliance, and educated him on the importance of the Force. Then, when he was nine years old, she revealed something to him. She was a force user herself, a Dark Jedi. Having sensed his strength in the force, Talia had sought Sylas out, marrying his father for the sole purpose of gaining Sylas as an apprentice. Surprisingly enough, Sylas was not angry at this revelation. Perhaps he had already sensed it, or perhaps he was simply detached from the situation. In either case, he accepted Talia's offer to train him in the force.

This training was perhaps the most formative time in Sylas' life. Having once been a reserved, introspective boy, Talia broke him entirely. She started by using psychological techniques, forcing him to delve far deeper into thought than any child could truly handle. This left Sylas entirely emotionally dead, hardly able to feel anything. Then, she would expose him to combat, and the adrenaline would make him feel alive again. Thus, Sylas began to live for combat, training and fighting at every opportunity. Finally, Talia taught Sylas everything she knew about people, and how to use them. When he reached the age of sixteen, Sylas defeated his master in a duel for the first time, and she declared his training complete.

With leave from his father, Sylas would then travel the galaxy with Talia, leaving Corellia to turn his practice into experience. For the next nine years, he traveled, first fighting against regular soldiers, then Jedi Padawans, and finally becoming able to match even the strongest of Jedi Knights. Then, one day, Sylas received a transmission from Corellia. His father had died in his sleep, and Sylas was the new head of his family. Talia instructed him to return home, granting him her space yacht as a parting gift. For the next year, Sylas would represent his bloodline in Corellia, waiting to strike at the right moment.
