Drey, sometimes colloquially referred too as Drey Incorporated, was a foodstuff manufacturer, and distributor headquartered on the planet Lianna. It was founded at the beginning of the 9th century, approximately sometime in 900 ABY, in the prelude before the rise of the Dark Empire. Drey was founded during the reign of the Empire of the Lost: a confederate of Imperial Remnants who banded together to form their own Empire after the conclusion of the Second Great Hyperspace War. Seeing an opportunity in the Empire to create and expand a company who specialised in the manufacture, and distribution of foodstuff, Alicia Drey- founder of Drey, who subsequently named the company after herself- capitalised on a series of events that transpired in the same year as the company was founded in order to fill the need for a company who specialised in it's respective field, and markets. After all, everyone needs to eat.
Outside of the Empire of the Lost, Drey also came into the possession of a Cortosis mine that it's founder had acquired some decades before it was founded. Using contacts that Alicia made at a Trade Federation Conference hosted on the Meniium-Scrani Industrial Station above Garqi, Alicia consolidated the mine into the companies assets so that she could begin profiting off the extraction and subsequent refinement of Cortosis ore for distribution and sale.
Rationale
In the 840s Alicia Drey founded Chandrila Group: a foodstuff manufacturer and distributor based on Chandrila. In many ways Drey is the successor company to Chandrila Group which was liquidated by the end of the 840s. The subsequent liquidation of it's predecessor, combined with other companies and work gave Alicia a vast fortune that was later invested into the creation of her new company on Lianna. After being recruited into the New Imperial Security Bureau- an intelligence gathering organisation who worked on behalf of the Empire- Alicia became aware of the impending invasion of Lothal mere days before the Empire launched their attack.
Using her own personal fortune, combined with the impending attack on Lothal, Alicia capitalized on the market crash that transpired during the attack, leading to the acquisition of several assets which included land and property to create Drey. Using clever political scheming, intelligence gathering, and a considerable pocketbook made from previous business, Drey was founded as a means to expand Alicia's influence and wealth across not only the Empire of the Lost but with designs to also reach star systems all over the Galaxy.
Headquartered in Lianna City, Drey owns several farms and properties on Lothal; fishing villages, and vehicles on Ruisto; and a Cortosis mine on Obredaan, which was consolidated into the company upon it's foundation. Drey seeks to fill a void in the Empire of the Lost by becoming it's leading manufacturer and distributor of foodstuffs within the Empire whilst looking to expand into other worlds who fill this particular niche.
