Description: Packing enough firepower to turn most smaller ships to dust, the Dreadnought Cruiser is an iconic design of Rendili Stardrive. First released years before the time of the Clone Wars, these ships made their way around the galaxies into planetary defense fleets everywhere, and the design itself adapted and customized by affiliated yards and clientele that eventually produced a number of variations on the original schematics. Like many other Rendili ships the Dreadnought Cruiser was long in service, appearing from its production up through even the Vong Wars in the age of the New Republic and even some existing and serving during the era of Darth Krayt's One Sith. Brought up into the modernization project with other old and effective Rendili Stardrive products, the Dreadnought Cruiser design now returns to the market with a rehaul. Its armaments increased and crew compliment made more reasonable, again partially as a result of system reworks becoming more efficient in the modern times, the Dreadnought now is capable of matching other vessels its size and then some. Still working with a reinforced hull and advanced shields, the Dreadnought has even taken them a slight notch again with more armor than before by cutting out the hanger bay completely, though with docking tubes now scattered about the hull to allow the transfer of people and supplies. Dedicating it fully to a warship meant for ship to ship combat, Rendili Stardrive has placed this refit onto the market for those interested in keeping their planets safe against hostile captial ships with a vessel to scare off anyone wishing direct conflict.

This looks mostly in order. However, a few things stick out.

  • You're over on your capital guns. Assault Cruisers have 90, you're at 114.
  • Likewise with your defense guns. Assault Cruisers have 15. You're sitting on 28.
  • You're under on missiles. Assault Cruisers have 10 heavy warhead launchers. You have 8.
While not at all wrong, I have noticed that your armament seems a little... widespread. Most capital ships, particularly the light capital ships (Anything less than 1,000 meters long), tend to stick to one or two types of capital gun and one or two types of defense gun. This keeps the design focused and keeps the ship's relative firepower up.

As I said, this is not something that you need to change, merely something that I noticed and thought I should mention.

I typically prefer both flak and point defense as they can overlap each other's weak points, while the quads at the same time fill in with rounding the defense out. I'm not normally a fan of the antimissile slots, but considering they are a weakness to shielded vessels I felt a few would serve well on an assault class vessel. And because missiles can be countered with such weapons, I am less a fan of them than of capital guns, so exchaning a few for them seems like a better trade off to me.

I do agree I was iffy about the mass drivers, but since I did remove missiles I did want a weapon more effective against hull than just adding more ion cannons so I threw those in.

I am satisfied with the current design. Thanks for the input though!

Well missiles exchange for 8, so exchanging one for defense guns, which are worth .5, allows me to increase them by 16. I'm within allowance on that. Though I do see I am over on Capital guns by 6. I'll drop another torpedo launcher.

We good now?

Six Heavy Quad Turboblasers: 48
Ten Turbolaser Batteries: 40
Ion Cannons: 10
Mass Driver Cannons: 16
Total: 114

Assault Cruiser pool: 90
Two Heavy Warhead Trade-ins: 16
New Pool: 106

Still short one heavy missile to hit this number.

I dropped a second Proton Torpedo launcher if you hadn't seen already. I mentioned it in the last post even.

I gave up 3 Heavy Warheads launchers total now not 2.

You gave up three heavy warheads.

Two went to capital guns. That gives you 16. You need 24.
One went to defense guns to give you 16.

You're still short one for capital guns.

You are right. Sorry about that my math sucks!

Dropped the 16 Mass Drivers and added 8 more Ion Cannons. This should work out better yes?
