SPECIAL FEATURES

[*]Navigation:

[*]Defenses:

[*]
Stealth:

Strengths:

  • Ability to penetrate interdictors due to HIMS
  • Ability to penetrate shields (planetary, static) but not capital ship shields
  • Ability to perform stealth operations even in Otherspace
  • Can fly long-distance flights in non-straight trajectories in hyperspace or Otherspace
  • Great resistance to ion weapons
  • High transport capability
  • High resistance to slicing attempts
Weaknesses:
  • Once the armor takes a hit at one place, another hit at that same place will likely penetrate the hull
  • Limited point-defense ammunition due to the use of slugs in point-defense (it can be a liability if forced in prolonged firefights against enemies firing missiles or using attack craft)
  • Exposed engines
  • Mobility is reduced when the stealth suite is active
  • Forward shields must be momentarily dropped when the field disruptor is engaged
Description: Bewildered by the Sith factions' ability to make stealthy insertions of rapid-response and other special forces in the Tython campaign, with Therapy Command describing their stealth insertion capabilities as being akin to teleportation, the Galactic Alliance commissioned a new class of infiltrator ships for the purpose of stealthy insertion of ground forces. Due to bureaucratic entanglements, causing a rapid rise in requirements, the Doppelganger stood unfinished for a prolonged period after the Tython campaign. Using a very similar stealth suite to the suite installed onboard the ANS Rockrender, but accordingly modified to suit the much smaller size of the ship, the Doppelganger can slip past standard enemy sensor arrays, thanks to its stealth suite, comprising thrust trace dampers, thermal dissipators, sensor masks/bafflers, optical shields, electromagnetic shields and gravitic amplitude modulators. Also, the use of the HIMS allows it to pierce interdiction fields or hyperspace mines, allowing it to slip past these sorts of defenses. And even when confronted with planetary shields, it can use a field disruptor to create a hole in planetary or static shields large enough to slip the ship through. However, it creates a weakness in the shields when the field disruptor is active: the forward shields must be lowered when the field disruptor is active.

As a combat ship, the Doppelganger infiltrator also possesses Haruna regenerative cap drains, allowing it to absorb ion weapons fire back into the ship's shields, but its weapons suite is otherwise not much different from escort corvettes of that size. Should it enter combat while in service, the Doppelganger has two liabilities: its exposed engines and the explosive-reactive armor making it so that, while the first hit will project shrapnel, a that hit creates a weak spot in its hull through which a second shot may be fired and possibly penetrate the hull. The real purpose of the Doppelganger is to allow stealthy insertions of sizeable rapid-response forces: it can carry a squadron of main battle tanks plus 500 men, including a company's worth of heavy weapons infantry and its ammunition. Finally, its Otherdrive allows it to evade hyperroute surveillance grids, at the cost of much lower speed.

- Consumables: 6 months
- Crew: 70 (skeleton: 30)
- Passengers: 500
- Cargo: 2,000 tons

These are weaknesses that came up in another ship I subbed and that you judged yourself.
Times change, thank you for your cooperation at least.

Long range weaponry is a specialized variant and not having them is not necessarily a weakness. The Imperator-class line of star destroyers lacked them and they were one of the most efficient destroyers in that era.

Having 'Otherspace operation is very dangeous' on the other hand, is a given. Navigating hyperspace is dangerous as well but you don't see other vessels with this 'weakness'.
