Private Do you need a minute to think?

Looking at the cracked mirror in front of me, it had been smashed for some time now. But it was the mirror I liked whenever I was here in the back. Just looking into it for a moment. Steeling myself to be prepared for the day. I took a deep inhale and held it for a moment. Letting my lungs burn before releasing it through my nose. Calming myself down as much as possible. Looking down to my arm from what happened last night, All I could think of was how close it came to me having to move again. I had just gotten this job for like two weeks before some nerf herder wanted to try and hit on me after my shift. His hand had been rough on my arm. But the surprise on his face as I moved out his grasp last night. Just the look on his face sent a smile to mine.

The thought was shaken from my head. I need to keep it low. Not use it. The problem was being exposed. I could have made it much more worse if I had been in a bad situation. Luckily a co-worker came outside so the dude left and I hadn't seen him since. Another deep breath before a release. Washing my hands. Hoping to make myself clean enough to wipe away whatever sins I had committed to earn this fate.

Brushing my hands through the towel, drying my hands from washing up before clocking in. Grabbing the little apron and tying it around my waist before walking out of the kitchen. The diner was taking care of a host of people. All kinds of different walks of life and styles. I plastered a fake smile on my face as I walked up to the Host. He eyed me hard. Looking to the bruise on my arm and then to my face. His voice low and judgmental.

"I'd cover that up if I were you."
"So I need to cover up a simple bruise around people who see death every day to look professional?"

A silence hanged in the air before I grabbed some utensil wraps and some menus. I just gave the host a look of clear disappointment. He wasn't my boss, and I'm not going to have him tell me how to dress. A roll of my eyes as I walked away and started to put the utensil wraps and menus on the tables. Making a mental count of what tables I would be waiting, some of them already had people waiting to be served. Placing them down, I spoke to the first group. Just three guys in for lunch from whatever job they had. Taking their order of whatever drinks and they wanted time to figure out what they wanted. The fake smile carrying me through the conversation as I moved to the next one. Setting the menu down in front of a woman, I slid the utensil wrap onto the side where it would be out of her way but within reach.

"Welcome to Kaigs Dine In. I'm Rin and I'll be your waitress today. Can I get you started with a drink? libations? or any appetizers?"

Just doing my job like every other day. Trying to just... live somewhat.
