Diamant is one of Ashin Varanin's cover identities: a House Varanin retainer, a combat instructor and sometimes a bodyguard or aide. The guise of Diamant lets her publicly support, protect, teach, and watch over her daughters (
Noelle Varanin
and
Quinn Varanin
) on Eshan. This role has become particularly important since Noelle began working toward filling her mother Spencer's former seat as Queen of Eshan. It would be politically difficult for Ashin to spend significant time with her daughters, particularly in public - but acquiring a new body with shapeshifting capabilities has solved that problem for the moment.Diamant has a reasonably well-falsified background as a private security contractor - emphasis on the 'private' - at least for a few years before she joined House Varanin's service.
