Kilori: The story of the soldier boy
Chapter one:

The day that Des Kilori was born was not a pleasant one. Nearby there was a war ragging that was slowly tearing apart the entire city that his parents were living in. With his father off to fight, his mother was left with a few women to act as midwives during the delivery of their first son. Hours of painful labor ensued. Des's mother nearly fainted multiple times during the birth before they decided to do a c-section to deliver the baby boy. His mother was worried that he would be sickly and wouldn't make it long. But as soon as she saw her son, she smiled with joy, finally realizing why she wasn't able to deliver normally: he was plump and more than healthy. But the joy of his birth meant little within a few hours. A man from the military showed up at their door. The new mother's husband was now labeled and confirmed KIA.

Soon after the child's birth, Des's mother regained enough strength to flee from the war torn are that would soon spread to her home. With a few of her closest friends in tow, they made it to safety. None of them were very sure of what to do next. Eventually they decided to find an apartment for all of them as most of them were left widows. With the little money they had left they were able to afford an apartment. They each went out and within a month or two the most of them were able to get hired at jobs that kept them afloat at their apartment.

The years passed by and Des began to grow. The women did their best to raise the child and nourish him to be a good kid. It was seen at a young age that he would be very active and very smart. By the time he went to his first years of school, he was taller, stronger, and smarter than nearly all the kids in his age group.

One day, Des's mother got notified from the principal at the young kid's school. He had gotten in trouble and she was requested for a conference after the school day was over. When Des's mother showed up, the boy was sitting in the principal's office. It turned out that he had gotten in a fight. Now this wasn't necessarily a cause for alarm but it was also mentioned that Des has been showing signs of general violence up until this point. And it wasn't on a small scale either, he'd been angry and offensive towards even the teachers and some reports had him pinned to being testy even with public officials. With a deep sigh, Des's mom apologized and signed the disciplinary form.

Though he was violent, Des Kilori was always protective of the mom. Whenever they went anywhere on foot, he kept his eyes alert and acted to be tough. Despite his six-year-old-boy figure. Even though he grew up in a woman's household, he grew to be a manly man. For lack of a better phrase. He was interested in sports and working out and hair products. That last part might not be so manly, but he was always good with his looks for the ladies. especially when he got into his late teen years.

Chapter Two:

In his secondary school years, Des became a major sports player. A big rough soon-to-be-man became the star of the school's major teams. He also learned to develop the softer side of himself. Instead of bullying on the kids that he could easily pick on, he became not only a major jock, but one of the friendliest faces in the halls. Many people looked up to him.

At this point, he was a very well built young man who dang near no one ever even dreamed up fighting. The occasional school thug would attempt to challenge him only to be shut down fairly quick. He also started practicing martial arts and training hard every day. He took heavily to working out. He did all of this and maintained top marks in his classes. Des was a dream student in the eyes of teachers.

Late in the evening on a fateful night, Des was going home to his mother, who was no longer living with the other women. It was like any other day, the sun setting after hitting the gym, feeling refreshed, he didn't have a worry in the world. Until he saw the door to his house broken down. Instantly thoughts of thugs rapping his mother shot up. Breaking into a dead sprint, he closed the distance to his house with insane speed. Three men were standing over his mother with rather large knives in their hands. There were two Twi'leks and a human. None of them saw what came next.

Des vaulted over the foot table in front of their couch, grabbing the man on the right of the group and throwing him sideways into a wall. The wall immediately gave way to the man's head, creating a cozy little hole for the unconscious man to rest in. The two Twi'leks look at him with wide eyes, the one further from him ran headlong for the door. The closer alien shot forward, lunging with his knife. Instincts kicking in, Des used the momentum of the attacker against him, grabbing his arm and swinging the rest of his body around, instantly snapping bones in half.

He grabbed the Twi'lek, throwing him out onto the street, walked over to the man and did the same. Then his face turned soft. He consoled his mother and cleaned up the small cut on her cheek. After that, his training was doubled. He kept himself in the most peak performance he could possible. Nothing would threaten him or his family. But he knew he wouldn't be able to protect his mom for forever. He was growing up fast.

Chapter Three:

"Rise and shine ladies!" Last day of basic training and they were still woken up the same way. Though in all honesty, Des had been awake for about ten minutes before this more than familiar morning routine began. They woke up, had their morning workouts and then all gathered in the mess hall. Breakfast this morning was eaten slowly and it was savored. It was the last day and the shuttles had already gathered on the airfield. At the auditorium, the man they all called "Big Horn" gave a speech and announced certain awards (Des received two). Then they were packed to the shuttles.

Hours later, and the shuttle landed about an hour away from his old home. He couldn't wait to see his mother. The Republic Army had taken away all outside communication from everyone and he could hardly wait any longer. On the way home, he stopped at his mom's old favorite restaurant and ordered some carryout.

Finally he rounded the corner to his house. But what stood where his home was, well, nothing was standing. Remnants of ashes were scattered all over the place. Even though he knew there would be hell to pay for his uniform, he couldn't help but drop to his knees, as he starred, his face blank. Long after the sun had gone down, he finally rose. Solemnly, he walked over, and gently set the bag of food down where he could still see the foundation of the front door.

Months later, Des received a letter from his commanding officer. Some higher ups were curious of the man's abilities and wanted to do some evaluation. The message said to report to the hangar of his space station for departure within the hour. Hurriedly, Des gathered all of his belongings and set to the hangar bay. A funny looking man with bright pink hair was waiting for him, standing outside of a long range transport. It actually seemed to have a fairly low class hyperdrive. The funny haired man simply beckoned and went inside. He ducked in a few second later and found a decently accommodating lounge area with a few doors off in a few directions that seemed to be locked. The bay door closed and sealed. With a sigh, Des settled down in a chair.

Arriving in Onderon was quite a shock to Des. Someone really high up was interested. Stepping off the shuttle, a man stepped forward and asked for his name and military ID card. After those were given and the card returned the man simply said to follow him. Weeks of testing facilities and rigorous academic tests ensued. They tested nearly every possible thing he could have known and even gave him very short crash courses on other things which were immediately tested as well, probably to test his abilities in learning.

After they exhausted every possible angle, a knock sounded on his door while he was resting from a fairly physical test that day. He got up and opened it. Des saluted to the general standing in front of him, when put at ease, the broad shouldered, aging man said five words: "Welcome to the special forces." with that, he handed Des a datapad, turned and left.
