Mara Corridor

Space was said to be the final frontier. Which was true in some ways, and others not so much. The Mara was not a frontier any-more, it was well travelled. What was odd was when a large War Ship had reverted to realspace, limping and destroyed right in the path of the Hyperlane.
There was only a single distress call, echoed in Morse code.
It played over and over again.
"Help us! Save our ship!"

Absentmindedly, I stared out the side viewport of the small shuttle whilst the pilot and the co-pilot managed the intricate flying on the return trip home. My mission, for the most part, had been a success; the only blemish mucking it's perfection was the event that resulted in the death of the business tycoon's son. The Lords in the Ascendancy might frown about me killing the boy, but they would be most pleased that I managed to persuade the tycoon to sign a contract with us; it all boils down to positive results, and I provided that. From within the cockpit, I heard a ping that ripped me from my daydream state. Rising up from the seat that was all to gracious to envelope me with comfort, I made my way to the cockpit.

"What was that about," I inquired after catching the last part of the exchange between pilot and co-pilot. The pilot replied, "We stumbled upon some sort of distress call. Makes no difference, really. Our objective is to get you back to the Ascendancy." A distress call this deep in space? My knowledge of the galaxy is currently limited, so I asked, "Where are we exactly?" All to eager to chime in, the co-pilot remarked, "The Mara Corridor. It use to be nothing more than an uncharted frontier. Recently, it became well known and now is frequented by almost everyone."

"We should investigate that distress call. No telling," I was saying when the pilot abruptly cut me off, turning my once relaxed mental state into an all out frenzy of anger. "Negative! We have strict orders to return you and the pact back to the Circle. No detours! No deviation of our course!" I looked over at the co-pilot, then back to the pilot sensing they were stalwart in their duties; which prompted me to act harshly. In one swift motion, I gripped the back of the co-pilot's head slamming it down hard into the shuttle's console, feeling the bone in his forehead crack. I didn't kill him, but he would need some recovery time in the near future. The pilot whipped his head in my direction, prompting me to flash him my canine teeth and let loose a nightmarish growl.

"We are going to investigate that distress call," I barked ripping the co-pilot back, hurling him to the floor. To further add my point to this, I placed my foot on the throat of the unconscious man eyeing the streaming blood from the gash on his forehead, feeling the pains of hunger rise up. "Or do you think the Lords will be pleased with you for denying them the opportunity for me to discover something of value on that ship?"

When he arrived into the pilot cabin, as requested, he asked "Venus whats up?" "A distress call" "Yeah and you know that we cant approach. Pirates with a trap and all sort of things" Acaleus took a panel and a holoproyector showed the ship "So you wanna go into that? We dont know its weapon system, the crew number or if it is a radiation hazard. Even if that cruiser would explode in any second" "The AT-120 has survived worst things. If this goes wrong, we could always go into hyperspace and fly away" "So you wanna go there?" "I have you for any fighting trouble"

Acaleus went out of the room saying "I´ll put the space suit. If things go south, its all on you" "Oh come on. The last day you went hunting rancors that were overrruning a village out of nowhere" "At least i was helping and got a contract to mine a mountain!" scream in the hallway "That was the reason i had to pass through the corridor in the first place..." whisper to herself why controlling the ship, and flying towards the war ship

Minutes later, the ship was close "The hull is too width for our scan sensor" "Try communicating" "This is AT-120 of Enryu Corp. You are talking to Venus, is anyone there?" said talking in the microphone. Acalues was already in the hangar bay waiting for anything to happen

---------------------------------

Eliza was peering through the viewports of the cockpit, watching as the mighty Warship drifted. From only a visual inspection you could see scorch marks, sections of rent and blasted hull, as well as starship plating that was hanging on for dear life. Her eyes roved each section of the hull as she manipulated the yolk, keeping a safe distance.

There were two other freighters in tow with her, carrying stolen goods. She was making a run to Nar Shaada to drop off some pirated goods. Weapons, Platinum with Republic markings, and a handfull of other items were packed into the freighters, along with her personal contingent of crewmen.

Some of them were mercs, but some loyal Pirates. They were hat comprised her fledgeling little enterprise, Black Flag Trading Company.

Trade was not good, because it had been delayed.... by this.

"Scan all the ship, give me anything you got." She said to Torval.

The bearded Pirate nodded, manipulating the controls to activate the scanners..

"How did this thing even get here. Looks like garbage."

Eliza used her hand to swipe up, bringing a holographic readout of the vessel to life from the dash. She had a bad feeling about it. If she was laying a trap she'd use the very same methood. Pirate bait they called it.

"Ship registers as an old Republic vessel. Shattered Spear it's called. Nothing else, no life form readings, no reactor readings, seems to be empty."

"It can't be." Eliza remarked, zooming in closer with the external sensors.

"I'm picking up heat signatures everywhere on board."

"Anyhting bio organic?"

"No but the silhouettes are humanoid."

She paused, thinking her options through. They could board and try to help, or they could leave.

But the Guns on that vessel... and the size.

She had to check it out. If it could be salvaged, that would be an ideal vessel beyond her wildest dreams.

"Bring us about, begin scanning and tagging breaches in the hull."

"Are we gonna try and dock?" Torval asked. "The Hull integrity on that things is..."

"Nooo and I know. That's what I'm counting on. Gonna take a raiding party in, zero-g boarding action. Find me an opening large enough in the armor to put a couple bodies through."

Then she retreated to the rear, making for the gear locker. They had some space suits to don.

"Acaleus, are you getting this?" "Other contestants...the war ship didnt responded right?" said watching in his wrist the information "Yeah. What do you want me to do" "Send the other two ships a friendly message. Go weapons red but do not get close to them. I wanna have the position advantage if anything goes wrong. We are " Acaleus wore the helmet, the last piece of the space light armor. He was testing, trying to see if this design worked (X) It would hit the markets in a month or so, and his advisors predicted a good winning rate.

In this kind of situation, attacking at first would be predictable of a pirate and of course, everyone would be ready to return fire. Acaleus stretched his arms like always. The freaking suit was light enough for him to do that. At the time he had his wrist lightsabers and the sub-machine gun hanging at his back. Acaleus was sitting, waiting.

Everything was out of the regular procedure. The fact that he was getting close to an unknown ship with other unknown groups all around with only a freighter. Instead of flying around, they were flying ahead "And that wasnt the most crazy thing i´ve done in my life. So stop complaining" thought. If things went well, his guards and workers could salvage whatever is worth from that ship.

I watched with an unsettling nerve at the party gathered around the drifting ship. Compared to the others, we were gravely under equipped to handle any sort of attack. I can sense the apprehension in the pilot next to me, his eyes darting between the other vessels. "What the kark! We're receiving an incoming transmission," he spat reaching for the communication knob. "Wait," I said snatching his hand in mid-reach. I wanted to observe what movements the other players intended to make. After a few passing minutes, and no aggression from either side, I nodded to the pilot to open the channel.

At the conclusion of the transmission, the tone received was of a friendly nature. I ordered the pilot to respond to both ships, because at this point in the match it wouldn't be wise for me to offend anyone with bigger guns.

"Greetings! This shuttle X7 on a return flight to Arkania. Current passenger list consists of three. We are an scientific exploration vessel, and we seek to offer any assistance to the derelict warship."

In Space
Being Gansta

---------------------------

The cold was hard to cut out with a vac suit. Even so she kept herself focused, as the airlock cycled, Eliza kicked with her feet. Through the hundred kilometer space she floated, adjusting her trajectory with a jet pack as needed. Her helmet was tracking each manuever, showing her the course into the ship.

She was aiming for a gap in the hull where it had been slagged by some kind of heavy round. she guessed a rocket had exploded off the side of it, ripping a lotus shaped flower of scorched and torn starship plating.

Must've been a real heavy round. That thing looks like its got armor meters thick.

She pushed her thoughts aside and focused, tracking her way in. Behind her she had three of her best team mates, but she'd left Torval behind. The plan as to have him track her locator beacon and stay close to the hull, in case they had to bail.

"Ellie, getting a a hail, looks like we got some company."

Ellie grunted. She had hoped this vessel would be unclaimed, and unseen.

"What are we talking Torval?"

"Bout two other vessels, plus detecting more en route."

"K hit em up. Tell 'em we're here checking out a distress signal. Don't give em any-more than that till we know what their intentions are."

For all she knew it could be a trap. It could be pirate bait.

"ugh."

The rent in the hull loomed before her. Up close it was huge. From beginning to end it was about thirty to forty meters tall, vertical.

"Stay frosty guys. I'll take point, blue three, four and five, stay behind me."

Lights blinked in her HUD in acknowledgement. Her small frame floated into the interior. Her helmet lamps flicked on, and her mag boots activated with a whirring sound. Both of her companions followed, flooding the deck with light. There was another set of whirls, and then they were all anchored to the deck.

"Wholy hell. Look at all these bodies."

"Wha--- Ooooohhh KARK!"

Ellie drew her Westar 35 pistol with her left hand, and her tommahawk with her right. The melee weapon came up at a diagonal guard, and the pistol was at the high ready as her helmet lamp swept the deck.

"Looks like these weren't done by the battle. These were survivors."

"Yeah I see it. Claw marks, bite marks."

"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Blue three said, turning towards her.

"Yeah." Ellie replied, lips pressed together.

"Reavers."

"Venus?" "Yeah. Apparently the first ship is a cientific exploration on a trip. The second ship is intentionally exploring that ship, and already sent a team there" "Oh like me" "Yeah and...wait what?" "I opened the hatch and took a stealth propulsor towards the war ship going silent to not be discovered" with that, he turned his comm off, and for a moment, even if it was impossible, he heard Venus screaming WHAT! in the silence of space.

Venus scratched her forehead, trying to control her anger and then talking to the radio "X7? Im approaching to assist with light and supplies. There is another vessel that doesnt respond. Shuttle YT a crew member already on his way, be careful with your guns" requested. If Acaleus was stupid, he would enter that ship

"Hi there. Name is Acaleus Thorn from the AT-120" said approaching from to the team of four already there ([member='Eliza Raxis'] ) The assassin left the propulsor. floating on the space and got close using his back jet "Please dont fire?"

I watched as the man 'flew' through space toward the ship. I knew we did not possess that kind of gear aboard this shuttle, and if we did, I would force the two men to go in my stead, caring nothing for the co-pilot's injury. I had no desire to go 'free falling' through the darkness and coldness of space, so I ordered the pilot to search for a docking bay. It might split us off from the other group and flying man, but until I knew who and what their true intentions were, that was for the best.

"Shuttle X7 proceeding to docking bay. Will contact when we board. X7 out."

After some time, we finally discovered the docking bay and quickly entered the ship. The pilot and I noticed the breach in the hull at the onset, and though we didn't have flying suits, we did have environmental gear; luckily for me it wasn't bulky and it allowed me bring along my weapons. The co-pilot, recovering from my outburst, would stay back to guard the ship; and if the occasion arises, make for a fast get away. Upon entering the vessel, the pilot send a transmission to the others notifying them one, we are now onboard and two, we are proceeding to the ship's bridge.

The first thing I noticed as we strolled through the docking bay area, were the ruined and half-eaten bodies that comprised the décor of the section. I could sense the fear radiating off the pilot, and since I was no Jedi; I fed off it rather than attempt to soothe him. "If you run, I will cut you down myself," I told him, adding to his growing fear of being in this tomb, or buffet.

On Board the Derelict
Still Being Gangsta

-------------------------------------------

The team turned an levelled their weapons at Acaleus. Eliza gave him a once over and then held up her fist, signalling for them to stand down. They did, but only just. As their weapons went down a few inches, she swept the deck again and grunted. There was definitely Reavers at work here.

Three Guesses who had set the beacon.

Was it stranded Sailors, or was it truly a trap for an all you can eat buffet of space zombies.

"Should we space 'im?" Blue two asked.

"No! How would it look if we came on a rescue mission and started flushing bodies out an airlock?"

"Well we are Pirates Cap'n."

Ellie chuckled, looked back at Acaleus and smiled.

"You are right."

She raised her tommahawk, setting into a diagonal guard and cocked her head.

"Start tracing the source of the beacon. You new guy. You willing to back us up in a fight? We can pay. Maybe even get this ship running again and transfer some loot off of it."

The bulkheads groaned. Something screeched from several hall ways down, echoing through the empty and desecrated decks. Blue three detected massive contact on his scanners. The bio signatures came alive in a flash of a hundred red blobs, moving through the vessel.

"Must've been jamming us."

"Vessels like this don't have jamming. Neither do Reavers."

The discovery of tech aboard the ship only confirmed her resolve to take it. All she had to do was activate the core, see if they could seal off damaged levels and get the Hyperdrive working again. In an extreme case, it was a gambit, but one ellie was all too willing to take. After all what was a couple of lives against a ship?

"I just wanna see if i can move this ship towards another place. My company uses this route to travel my merchant. Anyone would be afraid of pirates and i would lose money" with hands pointing at the bodies and moving them aside, leaving a path. With his jetpack, he float forward when his radio was being jammed and a sound came from deep inside the ship. But Acaleus didnt stopped with his sub-machine gun and close radar

"Venus? Open a channel for all the people to join" the pilot obey and in less than a minute "Alright turning it on in 3, 2 , 1..." "Alright listen up, name is Acaleus Thorn. I dont care if you want this ship for yourself or need to salvage anything from it. My only accomplish is to move this ship away from the corridor" the communication was private, so nobody, except the ones accepted could hear it.

The assassin went for a full stop when his own radar detected those signatures "I see it too Ac. You are not a invencible"Alive people or pirates already inside damn. Do you have a name? I wont risk myself alone, so if you need weapons i got a pair to share"

I led the pilot through a ruined bulkhead, where splatters of blood littered the walls in the new corridor, on our slow procession toward the bridge. The sight of the blood, and the unceremonious dissection of the bodies, began to make my stomach rumble with an insatiable hunger. This was not one of those survival moments, so there was no need to scavenge the tainted meat strewn about like a cannibal's all-you-can-eat buffet. Besides, until we could reached a section of the ship where the removal of our helmets would be safe, my stomach's needs will need to wait. Suddenly, and without any advanced warning, I felt a strong presence closing in. Then another. Then still more. Then came the cacophony of deafening screams echoing down the corridors toward us and around us.

I caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye as the pilot tightened his grip on his hold-out blaster, prompting me to unhitch my hilt from the environmental suit's belt. Before I could thumb the activation stud, the floor beneath us, I now noticed was grated rather than solid, erupted all around the pilot causing him to fall into the hole; but later as I thought about it was more like he was dragged into the dark abyss. Quickly calling on the Force I threw up a Force Barrier, not strong but strong enough for my talents in the Force, then ignited my wrist hilt drawing out the shoto length blade in a defensive position. The hilt in my hand would not aid me in such a close quarters scenario.

The presences I felt began to retract as quickly as they came, and along with them the fainting sounds of my former pilot's screams. I glanced down, relieved that at least the pilot was kind enough to drop his com link before abandoning me, and called the metal device to my hand. Now for the first time I spoke making myself known to the others. "There is something hunting aboard this ship. Whatever it is, they took my pilot and I now believe cut-off my exit. If anyone is hearing this, I'm continuing toward the bridge." Next I sent a message to the co-pilot, trying to give him a warning and a head's up, but after some passing minutes and no reply, I suspected he met the same fate as the pilot.

Powering down both my secondary weapon and the Force Barrier, I slowly stalked through the corridors pushing my Force senses to their limits. Whatever was aboard this ship might have surprised me in the first round, but these karking creatures weren't the only predators aboard. Next time they came at me, I would display my apex predator mentality on them; savagely and brutality.

The shrieks grew louder. Ellie closed her eyes and breathed deep, letting the senses of the vessel guide her. She was force sensitive yes, but she only possessed a handful of unique abilities. She would never wield a lightsaber, nor force lightning, but she could navigate, and she could see. Just. about. Anywhere.

As the creatures closed in she was seeing them. Through a blurry white force visions she watched a three sixty degree panorama of monstrous beings surge down the halls. It was too late she realized. There as definitely more at work here than Reavers. There were too many variables that weren't them pulling the strings.

Then her commlink chattered.

"There is something hunting aboard this ship. Whatever it is, they took my pilot and I now believe cut-off my exit. If anyone is hearing this, I'm continuing toward the bridge."

One of the team chimed in.

"Cap'n you want us to track that?"

they stepped in closer, forming a box around her facing out as the halls began to echo with thousands and thousands of screams. Ellie remained silent, with her eyes closed, trying to track down the source of the transmissions. the force flowed through her like a river, connecting things and people and places like a spider web.

"Cap'n?"

"No, hang tight."

Whoever this was had sent a distress call. Despite her being a Pirate, the Code of the Outer rim still applied to her. She put honor as a true Spacer before everything else.

Her concentration was robbed, and the visions began to fade. She settled into a slow breathing exercise and focused. She brought all her will to bear on a razor sharp point, probing and seeking the woman.

"This way!"

They were alarmed, maybe surprised at her sudden sense of direction. They knew better than to ask and fell into twin files behind her. Ellie bounded off, running as fast as her legs would carry her. She ran through a bulkhead, through a hall, down a hatch.

And then emerged onto an even larger deck, this one crawling with creepy silhouettes in the shadows.

"Picking up massive life form readings!"

Ellie nodded, and twirled her tomahawk twice. The woman that had hailed was between the horde and the next blast door, which hung crooked and shattered off her twelve.

She blinked twice, illuminating a mass of bodies. They were a horrifying sight. Half blighted bodies, fangs that were long and sharp. On their bodies were human skin, stretched and sewn, on their ears and necks, necklaces and jewelry of fresh bone still covered with blood.

There was a screech so loud, it drowned out her thoughts, and then they surged.

Ellie blinked again, activating comms in a tight beam transmission over the small area.

"Whoever you are, this Eliza Raxis of The Crop Duster. I'm right outside your location, but your trapped. If you can get through the blast door, come towards the sound of the fighting."

"Here they come!"

"Kark!"

Repeater blasters lit up the space in an explosion of fireworks. Blue team dropped to knee, forming a static fire line across one half of the bay and unloading. Beams of sizzling blue and green smashed into bodies, tearing flesh, creating brilliant flashes as they struck bodies.

"YAAARRGHH!"

Ellie roared, and hefted her tomahwak high. She charged in, head first. The tomahawk swung down, cleaving flesh and bone, loping off and arm of a reaver. Her knife in the opposite hand came across, slitting the throat and then reversed, stabbing into the guts of the next reaver.

Blood sprayed across her visor, clouding her vision in drops of red.

It was on....

The girl started to scream while lights of blasters weapons being shot started to appear at his vision. At least the space suit had alarm for danger approaching from the back. The beings appear from a destroyed hallway, crawling through the walls or floor and pushing themself forward. Acaleus raised an arm and created a force barrier. Strong enough to receive the first wave while he took a grenade and threw it "Fire in the hole" the mistake of the assassin was creating a bigger hole for the zombies kind to pass towards him "Venus. I need you to fire towards the red light" said leaving an small beacon on that hall.

Venus appear and used the auto-firing program "Already arrive" the weapons started to fire, giving back up to everyone near it "If everyone need to retreat, go to my ship!" he then used his jetpack to fly towards the survivor of the exploration ship, opening his way threw the hallways. His lightsaber cutting everything in his path, watching his scanners for where would enemies would come from. In minutes he arrived, before the creatures launch towards her. The assassin swept the space with a force barrier, crashing the zombies to the wall "If you stay here alone, this place is going to be raided and overwhelm!"

A horde of rotting flesh moved toward me in jigging movements. Snarling, and feeling the call to war course through my body, I ignited my weapon in my hand. The red snake-like blade emerged, forming my lightwhip into the fray of battle. There was no need to get fancy, this was survival at all costs. I twirled the blade over my head, then released it forward when enough momentum was bred. The first wave lost their heads, but more continued forward. Extending my free hand, the burning sensation of Sith Lightening spewed forth, engulfing the next creature; sending it into a violent convulsion. Still they came. Snarling and howling, I charged toward them snapping my whip ahead of me, dropping one on first contact and another when my whip whirled back around toward me.

Growing closer to the hoard, I first ignited my wrist hilt, brining out another red blade, and tossed a Force push at them, They staggered but didn't falter, but that was the small amount of time I needed. I charged through their ranks, cutting them down with my wrist lightsaber, whilst my whip danced murderously behind me to finish what that weapon didn't finish. Whirling around after passing through them, I barred my fangs, and finished the job. But more screams howled at me. That's when my com link burst with a voice.

Fighting was erupting behind me, from the blast door I had managed to reach. Just as I reached to punch the door open, a new hoard began to emerge from the adjoining corridor. Rotting corpses that didn't understand they were dead, and walking about. As a Sith, this what we craved; a test of our true self. However, common sense bred from the need to survive overrode this need to kill, so I hit the button watching as the door opened up. On the other side, there was much as the same, but this group were standing their ground.

"Satia", I said to the group, giving them my name, just as I shut the door behind me; ready to engage the new menace.
