Dek was born without the luxury of eyes. While most who are born blind simply do not have functioning eyes, he literally has no eyes, just empty sockets. Because of this he is fitted with an optical device that replaces his eyes, allowing him to see the full spectrum of light. He is physically fit, and is noted for spending long hours working himself to the bone to stay that way.
BIOGRAPHY:
Dek was born on Adumar. The world known for its infamous starfighter pilots was an apt place for an individual such as him. The downside: he was born without eyes, immediately negating him from being a fighter pilot. Though he was systematically fitted with new prosthetics as he grew, the inability to grow comfortable with them do to the repetitive, necessary changes, created a habitat in which he struggled in schooling simply because of his discomfort. His teachers lamented this fact, as when he was able to focus he showed signs of great aptitude.
Resigned to menial tasks until he stopped growing, he didn't allow himself to become complacent. He dedicated his free time to strengthening his body and learning to adapt with his other senses. Notably his hearing grew stronger. Was he able to hear from miles away a pin drop? No, but he was quite capable of analyzing the noises immediately around him and seeing enough to not become a menace. When he finally stopped growing, he was fitted with a final prosthetic: a cap that covered his head, necessitating the removal of his hair, and attaching to his eyes. It allowed him to see across all spectrums of light, and for a time it hurt him. Sensory overload was real.
Adumar quickly fell under the domain of the Sith, and Dek fled with many others to the Galactic Republic. There he found a place working in their security forces, though he was forlorn at their lack of discipline and refusal to police their own military forces. Many atrocities occurred under the banner of the Republic. Thus, when he learned that some worlds were forming a New Republic, he approached their President with the idea of creating a Republic Security force, RepSec, for the purpose of policing the Republic at all levels, thereby taking over the role as Chief of Republic Security.
