OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Deep Rim
  • Classification: Administrative Facility
  • Location: Oraim Mei
  • Affiliation: Outer Rim Military Engineering (ORME)
  • Accessibility: Deep Rim is located high in the mountain ranges of Oraim Mei, hundreds of kilometers from the nearest settlement. There are no foot trails up to Deep Rim, and jagged cliffs and advanced security measures alike minimize entry points to a small number of monitored hangars and landing pads. Additionally, a unique security code, changed daily, is required to enter Deep Rim.
  • Description:
Deep Rim is the ultimate headquarters of Outer Rim Military Engineering. All of its operations, across all ends of the galaxy, are run from Deep Rim. Workers often stay in the Deep Rim for weeks at a time, having meals and drinks exported from offworld. The Deep Rim's three massive towers together coordinate the legacy of a megacorporation.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The Three Towers - There are three massive towers in Deep Rim, with the largest of the trio being nearly five kilometers in height. They are all heavily armored, though lightly armed, as most of their energy goes to administrative function.

Tower One - Simply known as the "Central Tower" to most of its employees, Tower One looms above the other two Towers, as well as every artificial structure on the planet. Its main purpose is housing a vast array of offices surrounding an extremely powerful supercomputer. In Tower One, every single daily transaction, altercation, and company policy is put through rigorous scanning. The Central Tower's work force of nearly a hundred thousand accountants, financiers, cooks, suppliers, and managers, sweep through incoming records from Coruscant to Tatooine, applying organic judgement before downloading the files into the central supercomputer. The computer then organizes the files in a fraction of a second, and submits them to higher administration, who then proceed to alter the company's choices based off of the data.

Tower Two - Tower Two resides to the immediate east of Tower One. At two and a half kilometers tall, it is the second largest of the three Towers. The function of Tower Two is ensuring the security of Oraim Mei and all company assets. Inside Tower Two, massive stores of Outer Rim produced weapons are amassed. They are then organized and shipped off to other Towers, the local military forces on Oraim Mei, or Outer Rim benefactors throughout the warring galaxy. All security requests on the planet pass through Tower Two, which also specializes in eliminating corruption and moles.

A vast majority of the organic personnel in Tower Two are placed in soldier training on the lower floors of the Tower, where there are environmental and battle simulators. Additionally, as new groups of soldiers graduate, new recruits are pulled, causing a constantly shifting population.

Of all the Towers, Tower Two has the greatest armament, including around a hundred each of turbolasers, laser cannons, and ion cannons. They are mostly used for gunnery practice, but also provide a formidable defensive screen.

Tower Three - Tower Three is the smallest of the Towers, at only two kilometers tall. It is located much further left than Tower One or Two, having a separate bridge connecting the Tower to the other two. Tower Three's primary purpose is maintaining the planetary government and economy of Oraim Mei. In the Tower, qualified politicians and bankers carefully manage the planet's vast natural resources and plan city expansions.

In all non-military functions, Tower Three controls Oraim Mei.

Additionally, the Deep Rim houses the area's local shielding and Oraim Mei's planetary shields. The latter is over ten times the size of the former, and extends deep into the mountain.

Deep Rim Power/Shielding Generator - Located in front of and below Tower Two, the Deep Rim Power/Shielding Generator (DRP/SG) provides extended protection to the three Towers of the Deep Rim. The generator is lightly defended compared to the rest of the Deep Rim, as more space is needed for power. Additionally, the DRP/SG extracts solar energy from the sun above and geothermal energy from the core below, satisfying the Deep Rim's vast power requirements.

Oraim Mei Shielding Generator - Located in front of and below Tower One, the Oraim Mei Shielding Generator (OMSG) is easily visible as a colossal circular facility.

  • Crew Capacities
Tower One - 100,000 varied organics, 1 supercomputer
  • Tower Two - 1,000 varied officers, 25,000 varied organic soldiers, 25,000 varied autonomous guards
  • Tower Three - 10,000 varied autonomous guards, ~300 bankers, charters, & conservationists, ~100 politicians
  • DRP/SG - 1,000 automated mechanics, 50 organic engineers, 100 varied autonomous guards
  • OMSG - 3,000 automated mechanics, 200 organic engineers, 500 varied autonomous guards

SECURITY

Maximum - Oraim Mei was designed as a fortress world. As the most important part of the planet, Deep Rim is a massive fortress in itself. The walls of Deep Rim are two to three meters thick, constructed of durasteel reinforced by stronger alloys. The walls are also home to a scattering of turbolasers, anti-starfighter guns, and everything in between.

Inside the three Towers, cameras are extremely common. Blast doors are heavily reinforced, and ventilation hatches can be closed with the flick of a switch (located in Tower Two). While Oraim Mei already has a strong planetary shield, Deep Rim has its own separate, translucent shield wall.

The Deep Rim is further protected by multiple facilities outside the main complex.

Sentinel Platforms are well-armed military fortresses, centered around a single Cerrus-class Demolisher. There are five Sentinel Platforms distributed in strategic locations in a hundred-kilometer radius of the primary Deep Rim complex.

  • Sentinel Platform (SP) 1: 5 km SE of Deep Rim
  • SP 2: 15 km N of Deep Rim Center
  • SP 3: 35 km W of Deep Rim Center
  • SP 4: 75 km NE of Deep Rim Center
  • SP 5: 100km SW of Deep Rim Center

All Five Platforms are coordinated from Tower Two, but can act independently if the connection is severed. Like the main Deep Rim facility, the Sentinel Platforms are located at high altitudes and are inaccessible by foot. Unlike the Towers, Sentinel Platforms are typically run by skeleton shifts of around a hundred soldiers, and only filled during invasion drills. Otherwise, their primary purpose is policing obscure areas of Oraim Mei.

Each Platform also has light energy shields.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

After the devastating loss of The Blade, ORME sought another headquarters. In doing so, their main priorities were security and functionality. The former would be essential for holding off another round of invaders, while the latter would guarantee the facility was always in use. Upon acquiring Oraim Mei, a massive team of Outer Rim engineers, even larger than the one that created Pickle Rick, began creating a new facility.

In merely a year of work, Deep Rim was complete. It satisfied security requirements, with thick armor and a scattering of sentinel fortresses. Functionality was also achieved, with multiple massive and unique Towers put to service in administrating Outer Rim.

From the Deep Rim, ORME was able to regroup. With vast new assets, it began producing more products than ever, all under the direction of Tower One. Thankfully, Outer Rim's trade secrets had been spared when The Blade was destroyed. Consequently, they were stored deep within Tower One, heavily guarded and constantly monitored.

The Deep Rim was the fifth major structure to be built in Oraim Mei, only preceded by the planet's capital and multiple large mining facilities.
