Intent: To create a bomb for battlefield disorientation.
Development Thread: [N/A]
Manufacturer: Krasnie Drives
Model: DE-B1 Krasnaya Fialka Bomba
Affiliation: The Rebel Alliance
Modularity: [None]
Production: Mass-produced
Material: Kiirium; Condensed-Matter Composite; Illerium; Beryllium; Magnesium
Description: Furthering development on the less orthodox of weapons, Krasnie Drives continues to produce under the mantra of effective simplicity.

At the size of a proton torpedo and launchable from both fighter craft and artillery, the DE-B1 literally lights up the sky upon detonation. This bomb is specifically designed to erupt in air over a battlefield rather than make a directly damaging impact, casting non/low-lethal radiation towards grounded personnel, weapons, sensory equipment, and anything else within a 7,000-meter radius. Thus, it disrupts visual, sensory, and communication calibration, and leaves the enemy temporarily blind in all senses of the word. The boom itself produces a sharp and unpleasant sound (much like a seismic charge), adding to the disorienting effect and causing temporary deafness and tinnitus to those nearest its point of rupture, as well as temporarily affecting sonar devices.

The Illerium is the catalyst explosive, which sets off the Beryllium, unleashing a magnificent, blinding burst of light, while the Magnesium releases considerable heat and prolongs the light exposure as its smoldering shards descend from the sky in a bright orange, flare-like display before burning out. All of this combined is a perfect recipe for battlefield confusion.

Is this a missile or a bomb?

Lets say its a missile / torpedo as it says as much in comparason. As it is compared to this class of weapon, it must abide this class of damage and range. It needs to have a range and blast radius equal to this type of weapon. Proton torpedoes have a range of 300 to 600 meters per Canon wiki . While that is crazy short i do not limit it to that I generally allow a fighter scale missile 2,000 meters range. I will go as high as 3,000 meters if it is on a larger craft or artillery mounted. As this is lets say the missiles range is 3,000 meters.

For blast range you are looking at a 10 meter blast radius. A comparable EMP grenade has a 3 meter blast radius. As fighter loaded missiles and torps are about .75 to 2 meters in length depending on the weapon. This about this a 9 meter A-wing can carry 12 starfighter scale warheads. So thinking of this one can assume a warhead mounted on a missile or torpedo this size would be about 3 to 4 times as powerful.

So I will allow a blast radius of 12 meters. with a range of 3 km for the warhead.

If is is a bomb, Much of the above is the same. But you can not really launch a bomb from artillery. That would make it an unguided warhead. But for simplicity a Bomb and an Unguided warhead would be about the same in terms of power. If this is a a weapon on this scale then it can no longer be launched from a fighter scale launcher and would need to be dropped by bomb bay or external mount and be unguided. As for blast radius a bomb/unguided warhead would get you 20 meters blast radius.

So
Option 1: Its a Missile/Torpedo with 3km of range launched from a fighter or missile artillery with a 12 meter blast radius.
Option 2: Its a Bomb/unguided warhead launched from a artillery piece, Bomb Bay, or external mount with s 20 meter blast radius.

Had some wording issues in my sub, I suppose. It was late.

It's essentially a shell, intended to be dropped freefall from a bomb bay or launched from an artillery cannon. The blast radius itself isn't meant to be large, but the area it lights up would be much larger. Consider this like a gigantic flashbang.

A stun grenade has a range of 3 to 4 meters Link
A real world flash bang has an effective range of 1.5 meters. Link

a warhead around 1 meter such as a bomb might yield 3 to 4 times

Since this is a bomb it would be limited to the blast radius of something like that. Also it could not be launched from a fighter scale Launcher.

So make the blast radius 20 meters and re-write this to show it can be dropped from a bomb bay, or mount and fired with artillary.
