• As songsteel is a very light material, the shield is lighter and easier to carry than others of its type.

Weaknesses:

• While the shield is good to deflect a few bolts or saber strikes, it is not large enough to hide behind, or turtle up.
• As this is a shield, and not armor, it is possible to disarm the wielder of the shield, and leaving them without a significant advantage.

DESCRIPTION
When Roella Arwyn convinced her mother to allow her to leave Talravin to find adventure, her mother, the Queen of Talravin needed her daughter to be protected. The Talravani had a taste for a more elegant and civilized time, eschewing most blaster weapons, but the rest of the galaxy did not have such qualms. As such, she used her considerable wealth to have Dawn forged. Made of songsteel reinforced with leather, the shield was forged with mobile protection in mind. As Roella was a swordswoman, she would not be sitting behind a hill, waiting for the enemy to strike her down. She would be on the move, taking the fight to them. Mobility is a key component of Dawn, wielded in one hand. It cannot be turtled with, or hidden behind.
