Dawn of a New Frontier

[member="Eliala Tallera"]

Aeshi had had enough of galactic politics. Even for a tramp merchant, those free-spirited traders not typically involved in the schemes of empires and armies, she was done. Nearly two years imprisoned in a Sith prison- alternating between a cold cell and slave labor - was enough for her to abandon the Core for good. But here she was, striding down her ship ramp onto Nubia.

Part of her was excited. Everyone with spacer's experience knew of Nubia and the famed Nubian Star Drives. Their ships were elegant and beautiful. Not always the best for hauling freight, but they had elegance, and now she was here to meet with their Primarch for a charter on a trade base at the end of the Hydian Way. Imynusoph was its name- isolated, unimportant, and on the very edge of the frontier. Beyond it? Well, there was lots of open space on the map.

Surely there were other worlds out there, just waiting for people to find them. For her to find, really. Chances for new trade routes, profits, and trade empires were justifications, of course, but not her reason. No, she was there to explore. Seek out new worlds, new life forms, new adventures, and a place away from Sith and Jedi both.

Some guards arrived to escort her to the meeting- in elegant uniforms and a polished military appearance. Aeshi felt rather out of place in her Outer Rim spacer's gear, still grease stained and a little battered by Rogue Sith forces and their none-too-kind treatment of their prisoners. But then, the two pistols holstered at her waist seemed to make the guards uneasy.

No worries. She would check those at the door with security like any civilized, mostly law-abiding citizen. Then she was in the building, winding her way through the elaborate halls, until reaching the meeting point. She stepped inside and took a seat at a table, leaning back and crossing one leg across her lap.

It was a nice room, she had to agree. Not quite her style, but it was nice. She would give them that. A protocol droid brought in refreshments.

"Here you are, Captain Tillian," The droid said, arranging the drinks, "Your meeting will begin shortly."

As the protocol droid moved to the door, the large mechanical door slid aside and a elder but, handsome gentleman in white suit entered in with a data pad tucked underneath his armpit. He marched right up to the captain and pulled up a chair beside her. He rested the datapad on the surface of the polished business table and smiled at the young woman.

"Captain Tillian is it?" He began with a professional bureaucratic tone. "I am Foreign Officer Edvan Nuba, I will be briefing you before before her grace the Primarch addresses you for the Charter Reception Ceremony." Edvan reached out a hand to shake with captain's. Afterwards her cleared his throat and activate the datapad and the holoprojecter lens flashed and projected the holomap of Imynusoph and adjacent planetary systems.

"Firstly, I would like applaud your sense of adventure, Ms. Tillian." said Edvan. "Reaching right into the depths of the Hydian Way. Imynusoph is a relatively under developed planet with small link to local trade."

"But, nevertheless the Nubian Chartered Merchant Council will lend as much aid as we can, even though to reach your Chartered Merchant Base there is a bit of a trek."

"So before I begin are there any questions you have on my role and the governments in establishing your post?" Edvan's cold blue eyes posed the question along with his lips.

Aeshi stood as the man entered, taking his hand and shaking it firmly. First rule of business, look confident. Second rule, know what you were doing. But if you couldn't follow the second, always follow the first because that seemed to matter more, and a good act of confidence could usually bluff through a lack of actual knowledge. True story there.

"That's me," She answered, before taking her seat again. "Pleasure to meet you." She leaned forward to look at the holomap. Looked just like the one on her ship. Mostly empty space, nothing tying them directly to major powers and an awful lot of empty space, but the end of the Hydian Way and awfully close to the Corellian Trade Spine. It didn't run directly to Nubia, but it went elsewhere in the galaxy, right into the heart of the core just a short hop away, and through First Order and Alliance space. Lots of opportunities there to be worked with.

She shrugged as he commented on her sense of adventure. "The more adventure there is, the more opportunity, and I appreciate the aid offer. Once it's up and running, I think I'll be able to manage on my own, and I can levy contracts and favors for that."

Aeshi leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table. "What is your government's view of the regular involvement with the outpost? The natives haven't always been friendly towards off-worlders, so I would prefer to keep things as potentially non-threatening as possible. I'm looking at a small outpost here- nothing big. A landing field, refueling station, small structures in the tree. Assimilated into local culture for the most part."
