Historical Information
Darken Rahl was born among the Thyrisian people, the son of a prominent Sun Guard officer. Little of note happened in his youth, and every day was spent training for the day that he himself would eventually rise and join his fathers lineage as a Sun Guard warrior. When the time came however for Darken to take up the mantle, and serve his people within the Sun Guard, he struck out. He barely speaks of what happened on that day, but during the ceremony to see him join the Sun Guard, he struck down his father and fled in the chaos. He still keeps the severed hand of his father, now but a skeleton, in his private quarters to remind him of that day.
Rumors abound as to the reason behind Darken's flight, with the most common thought being a growing disinterest with the isolationist lifestyle of his people. Others claim that he grew disillusioned with the creed of the Sun Guard, or the religion of the Thyrisian people. Whichever story rings true Darken himself has never acknowledged, and in time, people stopped asking. Following in the footsteps of ancient Thyrisian's, Darken Rahl traveled to, and joined the One Sith, seeking to serve in the ever growing Empire. He became a promising Acolyte and Apprentice to a rising Sith Lord, and served across the breadth of the One Sith's domain. He was nearing the end of his trials as an apprentice when the One Sith began to crumble. Across the borders of the great realm, the enemies of the One Sith began to advance, and internal dissent saw to the inevitable victory of the galaxy.
Seeing which way the wind was flowing, Darken Rahl struck down his master, claiming her title, power and resources as his own and fled the One Sith. He remained in hiding for many years, slowly expanding his knowledge and understanding of the greater galaxy until the rise of the new Sith Empire. He returned to the Sith fold then, taking position within the nation as it grew and expanded, bringing the glory and might of the Sith back across the galaxy. He became a Lord of the Sith among the Sith Empire, and rose to the highest point in his life up to that point. He remained loyal during the civil wars that engulfed the Sith Empire, and fought across the various fronts of the war against heretical Sith and Imperial dissenters alike. He thought to have earned a reprieve when he answered a call along with many other Sith and traveled to the gathering of Darth Solipsis.
He was pleasantly amused when the new Dark Lord of the Sith's plans were made clear. He watched as his comrades were cut down around him, and while he struck down those that tried to bring him low, he did not openly resist the Brotherhood of the Maw and their New Sith Order. In the aftermath, he joined this organization, his survival over the corpses of several New Sith Order warriors his proof that he was strong enough to survive within their ranks. He departed Sith Empire space, and has since begun to establish himself within the New Sith Order.
