An ancient philosopher wrote that if one had to choose between being loved and being feared, then it would be best to be feared. Darren Apollo rejected this notion in his life. He believed that his purpose in life was to make people's lot in life better - bring light to worlds with the superior technology of the contemporary age. He sought to be a friend to each of his employees and business partners and he made money not just for the sake of a profit but for the sake of uplifting the galaxy.
Darren's commitment to the well-being of others showed in the flow of his money. His average contribution to charitable organizations - ranging from those that built homes for those displaced by war to those curing diseases - totaled to 40% of his yearly personal income. The rest of his income was spent with frugality - and he would always feel pride in himself for getting quality items for discounted prices.
Companies that Darren managed would also be heavily involved in volunteer activities that benefited the community - food drives, running a soup kitchen, managing a marathon in support of a non-profit.
When it came to politics, Darren believed that the political landscape should not heavily influence the acquisition of money and value for himself and his companies. Business with the One Sith could be as valued as business with the Republic, in Darren's opinion. He would also invest in companies that might have a significant amount of people with negative opinions about the company: such as arms dealers that profited off the wars in the main galaxy.
Darren kept himself in good shape - giving himself forty-five minutes a day for five days of the week for a workout regimen with his personal trainer. He has a personal nutritionist that also helps plan for most of his meals - though he will have his cheat meals every once and a while. He also had regular check-ups in order to make sure that he caught any potential issues his body might throw at him. As a result, this has made him appear to be a very youthful 53-year-old.
Normally, Darren would keep his naturally black hair relatively short and clean - opting for a simple hair cut rather than something expensively styled.His choice in attire also usually emphasized sharp corners and creases that emphasized his thin, fit build. He would also avoid expensive designer brands - opting for economical suits where the most expensive cost was actually the tailoring.
One other distinctive feature of Darren's appearance was a cybernetic right forearm. He used it as a demonstration of his commitment to the idea of cybernetic augmentation for all beings - not as a necessity for lost body parts but as a necessity to better oneself. Beneath the skin, there were also many other cybernetics that helped keep himself in shape.
Born on Coruscant in 791, Darren came from a middle-class family. Since a young age, he was very interested in technology - specifically in robotics. His usual hobby was to have a robotic kit to built small droids - which he would frequently sell to people that he new. He attended the University of Coruscant starting at age 17. During his time there, he started selling specialized small droids to people that he would build with a group of friends. Eventually, he dropped out of university to focus on what became a small business around building specialized and unorthodox robots for people.
This business, which was called Undercity Robotix, grew in popularity. At 813, the company itself had grown large enough that an electronics conglomerate asked to purchase the company and its assets. Darren along with his companions accepted the offer. Soon after, Darren left Undercity Robotix to focus on creating more start up companies in order to sell them.
This practice gave him a surge of income. By 820, he became a multi-billionaire through the creation of successful business related to robotics. Major companies would also ask for his consultation on their businesses as well. It was at that time that he began to focus on areas of the galaxy in need of development - such as the Rishi Maze.
In 830, Darren Apollo founded Stellar Energy with a single shop. The company began by making specialized power cells for industrial equipment. Darren Apollo was actively involved in the company as the majority owner and CEO. The company eventually transitioned to creating reactors for worlds that needed power and saw a great deal of growth. By 840, Stellar Energy created its utilities division so that it could continue to gain income through power generation and distribution on planets.
Under Darren Apollo's guidance, Stellar Energy had its initial public offering on the Galactic Stock Exchange in 844. A flood of cash from investors followed. Darren planned to expand the company's business into the main galaxy as well as push the bounds of reactor technology.

As an experienced investor, Darren was smart enough to keep his wealth spread out among a diverse portfolio of investments. This meant that even if Stellar Energy and other companies he worked for tanked, he would still have considerable net worth.
Still, Darren had a lot of business with companies and organizations that were, in his opinion, extremely volatile and heavily reliant on the condition of the galaxy and nation-states - and were also very involved in the wars that plagued the galaxy. Knowing that, Darren assumed that he would likely be a target for violent action even if he did remain in the rather isolated Rishi Maze for most of his time. In addition, should Darren ever be threatened with violence, he knew that he would be at a great disadvantage against anyone trained to fight due to his limited combat experience.
